An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. We have for offer here a beautiful french rosewood armoire dating to the end of the 19th century. This good sized example has an angular cornice with carved frieze which is detachable over a large mirrored door flanked by reeded columns enclosing the original adjustable shelves over base with two blind drawers raised on turned feet. The wardrobe is in good condition for age with no worm or splits and comes ready for use in the home. Antique Victorian Armoire Knockdown Wardrobe Extra Closet Gun Safe
Spectacular original knockdown wardrobe from 120+ years ago. Original finish; well cared for since new. 48" wide; you can use it as a closet for that room that has none. 87" tall including top cornice piece- make sure it will fit before bidding! Completely disassembles with no tools- top. Middle, and base all are held together with sliding wood clamps that cleverly attach the sections. This has been in the same family since new. It was last used as a gun safe judging by the racks on the left side. Both doors lock. Beautiful oak grain with no damage anywhere. No makers mark; just the number 31 stamped on a number of pieces. No wood damage or repairs. No rot. Two pictures show the underside without the casters or feet mounted- last picture shows misc items that came with it- the hook& eye holds on the top trim though it's ... morepegged and sits there just fine without it. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MAHOGANY LARGE 4 DOOR WARDROBE ARMOIRE CLOSET HOOKS DRAWERS
This is an absolutely fabulous antique one piece Victorian four door mahogany closet or wardrobe. With original cloak hooks and campaign drawers and carved decorative finial. Currently having several shelf papered covered shelves someone added to increase storage space, a new owner could have additional or shelves more appropriate to the age of the piece made if desired or it could simply be used for that always needed extra space to hang multiple jackets and store books, gloves, scarves and sporting equipment within a stylish yet functional old Victorian wardrobe, most recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland. This terrific four door closet stands 86 1/2 inches tall and measures 67 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches deep. Front to back. There are a total of three brass cloak hooks around the wall in each end closet as well a three ... moreprong hook in the center plus four along the wall and two more 3 prong hook's in the large center closet, with hooks for a total of 22 coats, jackets or scarves. The two end closets are each 15 inches wide and 14 inches front to back with 58 inches clearance above the large campaign drawers in the bottom of each closet. The drawers are each 13 1/2 inches wide by 11 1/2 inches front to back and 13 inches deep. The large center closet, with hooks for 10 coats within is 2 doors wide, 30 inches across inside and also 14 inches front to back with 64 inches clearance above it's low shelf which has 8 inches clearance below, above the base of the closet, designed for shoe storage. Up for sale is a turn of the century American made antique armoire/ wardrobe. Armoire is in pretty good overall condition and can be used the way it is. Needs a little refurbishment to be in perfect shape. Everything is missing from the inside except the lock. Which is missing the key. There are places where pieces of the veneer has come off. Armoire was originally built using tongue and groove and the back was held on with wood dowels. The dowels are missing and the back has been nailed on. The hinges have been replaced. Gorgeous piece of mid to late 19th century furniture. Thing I like most about this piece is that it is easily dismantled and reconstructed. No twisting or struggling to get pieces to fit. I did it myself but would recommend two people. Nice lines and beautiful wood inside and out. I believe exterior is walnut and interior is southern pine. Has some minor flaws that could be ignored or repaired. Top is missing some veneer and abrasion to back corner. One piece of trim needs glue. This Ar-moire is in beautiful condition and has been passed down to me with the following info. The items actual date of manufacture is unknown. But has been stated as being 1890-1899. Material used for construction has been stated to be Burl Walnut. Item was originally purchased at an estate sale in Beverly Hills, CA. Weight of item has been stated to be in excess of 300 lbs. but never actually taken. Item is stated as being 100% original in hardware and materials used. Now for what we know for sure. This Ar moire is very large! Measures 76" tall(from bottom of legs to tallest point. Center) with 72 1/2" across(from left to right edge, center) and a depth of 19 1/2" Diagonally(from bottom left corner, across face, to top right corner) it measures 102" The wardrobe is sectioned into three pieces. The left two thirds share ... moretheir interior space and have a beautiful brass closet style rod spanning its length, with original brass hangers and hooks.The right most third of this wardrobe is partitioned, and has three adjustable shelves and an original glass mirror(48x14x1/4) mounted on inside of door. Incredible French Carved Single Door. Mirrored, Armoire/Wardrobe. Incredible detail all over. This one is from the mid 1800's, I do not believe it has been refinished ever, looks all original to me. You will see a few age marks here and there, and a few flecks of veneer off along the bottom of the door. In the last picture you will see the door is open to the piece and the left hand side is seperated, this is because a tightening bolt is missing. These pieces break down in several pieces and have to be attached, the bolt that attaches the left side to the crown, or topper, is missing, I will get a new one and have it in there before it is delivered to a customer. An antique Arts& Crafts style solid oak Hall Wardrobe of American origin. We are pleased to present this antique Hall Wardrobe for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood. And is of American origin with an Arts& Crafts or Mission style look. Unusual for an American piece, it has a mechanism for disassembly to simplify the task of moving it from one place to another. A single door is found on the front, and hooks(not original to the piece) are found on the back, near the top, for hanging garments. Limited depth on the inside is not sufficient for a hanger to fit front-to-back. So this piece is better suited for use as a Hall Wardrobe, rather than a full armoire. Other possibilities, with the addition of shelves, would be use as a Bookcase, Spice Cabinet, or Kitchen Pantry. The outside measurements are 69 inches high. 33-1/2 ... moreinches wide, and 15-1/2 inches deep. There are four(4) pieces of sliding wood locks on the inside. When slid towards the front and removed, they allow the top and bottom to be removed for transport(see three close up pictures to get an idea of how the mechanism works) On the inside. Measurements are 63 inches high, 28-1/2 inches wide, and 12-3/4 inches deep of usable space. Five(5) sturdy hooks are available at the top for hanging jackets, hats, or similar items. The Hall Wardrobe is in great shape. The finish on the outside looks fresh with minimal wear. There are a few water stains on the interior. But the wood is solid. Stunning Antique French mirror wardrobe/armoire from the Belle Epoque Era
This has been in our spare room for several years and we absolutely love it- it is truly beautiful. Sadly we need to part with it to make way for a new member of the household. The top piece comes off above the mirrored door. And both drawers and shelves come off/out to make moving/transport easier. It is very sturdy, not a light piece. The paintwork is distressed and it was bought like this 11 years ago, and only the knobs and handles have been changed as they were in poor shape or not existent and 1 shelf added. It measures 252 cm high at middle point 124 cm wide. 46 cm deep plus the top piece sticks out another 25 cm as you can see from photo 2, but is removable. wickedcrazymom Store Antique mid 1800's Wardrobe~Chifferobe~Armoire. It is a beautifully constructed and very sturdy piece. This came from an old farmhouse in Alabama. I refinished the piece about 30 years ago. Since it is pine. I decided to try to stay in the same color family that would have been common when the piece was built. I used as an entertainment center and. Years ago, I modified the piece to allow for the back of a pre-flat screen TV to stick out the back of the piece. I know, I should have waited for flat screens to come out. Anyway, I built a shelving unit which can be removed~it simply sits inside the wardrobe. At the top of the inside of the unit, I attached some pine shelving via some angled metal brackets, which can also be easily removed. The boards that would have originally been on the top were missing when I found ... morethe piece. I used some old reclaimed wood to replace them. This is a great piece- look at the detail in some of the pictures. The builder used wooden pegs and square nails to attach the wooden pieces. The trees that were used to build this piece must have been large in diameter, the door panels are 14" wide, and the back of the piece has boards that are 11-14" in width. This piece has great presence in a room, and makes either a nice entertainment center, or could be modified to be used once again as a wardrobe. It is very big and heavy. So local pickup only. A very large French Empire wardrobe or armoire circa 1850-1870. Past down by decent in the same French Canadian family and then through marriage to Norwegian American relatives in the 1920's. Made from beautifully grained mahogany veneer over pine secondary wood and always kept indoors. There is absolutely no fading of the rich wood colors. It is approximately 87 inches high. 24 inches deep, and 61 inches wide, and is in excellent overall condition. Only minor veneer chips as expected from age and use. I will give it a dusting and a coat of paste wax and it will be ready to enjoy for another 100 years. It is easily disassembled for transport thanks to the original wood keys which attach the sides to the base and the tapered wedges which lock the top to the sides. It is believed to be Scottish in origin. To enable the piece's use as an armoire without disturbing its original pristine condition. Removable shelf units were fabricated. These easily slide into the wardrobe and provide ample room for storage. Inside are the original sliding brass hooks for hanging clothing. There is a deep drawer on the bottom of the main section and two in the narrower section. The mirror and glass sections are beveled. A shaped crest rest over three doors the center door have a full length mirror. Paneled doors on either side are topped with framed carvings. Behind one door are pull out shelves and drawers. The larger side offers a bar with hooks and hook mounted around the inside. This great piece offers a fantastic amount of storage.Being made of solid Tiger Oak it is very solid showing only signs of normal use. There is slight separations in the carved panels.
