These are brass plated. I saw one of them cleaned up and it looked beautiful but there is some surface abrasions. There is some residue buildup on these. These will have to be cleaned. When these are cleaned there will likely be some surface wear. I believe that these probably exposed to cigarette smoke as well. The actual electric parts on this appear to be fine but of course I cant really tell. One of the white mountain screw nuts is missing. This part of the fixture is hidden from view so 2 new caps or one substitute can be utilized. You can see this in one of the photos. PAIR ANTIQUE Gothic Tudor Renaissance Revival WALL SCONCE lamps lights 1920s
I have up for sale a wonderful matching pair of Antique Vintage circa 1920s or there abouts Gothic Tudor Wall Sconces.Complete with original Amber Crackle Glass Chimney Shades. The underlying metal appears to be brass- with factory applied finish. The metal frame measures approx 14-1/2" with the amber chimney- the height is approx 16" The back plate measures approx 4-1/4" wide x 9-3/8" tall. Both sconce frames are in Excellent Original as found Condition! There are no damages and wear is minimal-the finish is excellent. No breaks. No cracks, Etc. The lamps will need new switches- as the old ones are absent. The shades are in very good shape. They have some minor nicking/ nibbles on the top rims but this is fairly trivial and not something at all noticeable. One shade has a small chip. Shown upclose in pic#10. They are ... morea heavy thick glass- and have excellent color and effect when lit. The bulbs that fit the lamp have to be the long slender type. You may have to screw the bulbs in from the top as the inner diameter of the shades are approx the same as the bulb and they will slide through the bottom but the sides touch on the lower section of the bulb. No big deal just do this from the top and no problems.They are old replacement shades-dating to the same era- almost identical to the originals-which are shown in my last pic. I have 3 more identical sconces- the only difference is that the shades on the set that is listed here are a bit darker in color and slightly heavier. From the same era. PLEASE HOLD OFF ON PAYMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED MY INVOICE. I will only package once the lamps sell and will then submit the invoice. Very detailed pattern, measuring 11" x 8 1/2" at the longest and widest points. Fits a standard candlestick. Came from our family estate in Brooklyn NY and date to the late 1800s, early 1900s. Original mounting hardware and glass chimneys cannot be found but a replacement should be easily obtained from any home improvement store. Designed to fit into a socket type cylinder mount that allows it to swivel once mounted. Beautiful workmanship! Mint condition, only tiny flecks of rust inside the holder. Overpainted on one of thw two sconces with multiple gold paints. Both carving in great condition with several stress/ age hairlines on the back panel starting from top( 3 total. One on one and two on the other) none critical or in view, all about 1/4 inches in length, together with very minor warping of back panel which again is not critical or in view or noticeable when on display. They would be fantastic pieces if re-gilt. Very good craftsmanship. They measure 12" long.15 1/2" with the crystals by 3 1/4" wide and stand out from the wall 6 3/4" The sconces do work as shown, they each have a clicker switch on the front, that does work. The wiring in one of the sconces appears to be original and the other has been rewired at some point. They take standard Edison base light bulbs. The sconces have pretty crystal bobeshes and each has six spike prisms. Note that the bobeshes have their Made in Austria tags, only one pictured, but they are both there. There is a slight difference in the color of the sconces, shows up best in photo#4. If they are hanging on either side of something it would not be very noticeable. We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL AND RARE DESIGN. Antique(c1940s) French wall sconce lamps. This grand pair mimic climbing rose bushes which are attached to center poles/stakes. The vines/branches and leaves are gilded iron tole with ivory/white porcelain roses in full bloom. Each sconce features 7 porcelain roses. The sconces are quite grand in size and measure 29" tall. They have ornate wall plates of gilded bronze or brass with a flower petal design surrounded with a beaded pattern. Long arms extend the sconces out from the wall for an even grander effect. The sconces operate with one regular sized, 60 watt bulb(not the small candelabra type bulbs) Each sconce retains their original harp and finial. The finials are also porcelain roses. These 2 Paulding sconces came out of a bathroom in a old Victorian house being remodeled and had layers and layers of paint on them. I cleaned them in off the best I could. No chemicals were used. No cracks breaks or repairs. A few very tiny flea bites along the edges. Needs re-wiring. The chains are snapped off inside. Only a little shows as seen in the pictures. There were a lot of these fantastic pieces of hardware being tossed into the dumpsters. There was so much paint on everything no one knew. Unfortunate I came along too late to retrieve some hardware.
