Wonderfully kept Art Deco 1928 era Chandelier and 6 Matching Sconces made of solid cast iron with original paint with barely a flaw anywhere. All are stamped in iron"Moe Bridges Milwaukee Wisconsin" Three wood type candle covers need a little repair but they are solid. Everything else is superb including the paint job. I see no rust though I could have missed some surface rust its possible like where it was not painted on back.Ready to hang. Most have new wiring. There are all parts including wall screw fasteners with nice matching flower tops which were the original for the lights. Moe Bridges known for their quality craftsmanship. I bought this several years ago and was told everything is there for it. There may be a screw or a bolt missing to attatch the hanging part on bottom of chandelier. Another wonderful aspect of the chandelier is how totally original it is(see second image) Except for the new cloth wiring and sockets. Everything you see(including the glass finial, chain, and canopy) was there when the fixture left the factory! A HISTORICAL ANOMALY As you can see in the original Markel catalog image(see second image) The sconces listed here(see last three images) do not precisely match those in the catalog. They also have a Globe sticker(not Markel) Yes, this is very curious, indeed! The shades are clearly the same but the brass back-plate is different. My assumption is that Globe either sold their design to the much larger Markel Company(or Markel simply stole the design) which then redesigned the back-plate. Or, who knows what happened? Nonetheless, the sconces are unquestionably a match to the chandelier although the shade on the chandelier is shiny while the sconce shades are frosted. ABOUT THE 1940s: Just after WW II. Antique hanging light chandelier fixture brass 2 socket with sconces Perkins
Antique brass hanging light fixture. It has 2 sockets and white milk glass sconces. It comes with 3 sconces. It hangs down 39" and is about 22" across. The sconces are 5" long. 4 1/2" across the open end and have a 2" fitter. The glass has no cracks and no chips other than some small chiggers on the rim. The fixture has the base mount and one side has a pull chain and the other side has a turn type switch. The turn switch has Perkins on it. Has nice patina and I did not clean it very well to preserve the original look. I have described the items condition to the best of my knowledge. UP for sale is a beautiful set of 4 Markel wall sconces. I bought them at an estate sale some time ago and had them restored. I even had them redo the electrical sockets and switches. The guy that restored them put original Leviton turn switches on all 4 wall sconces. I only have two of the glass shades and two are missing. They are French Empire petite basket chandelier style and date early to mid 1900's. Each holds one E-14 chandelier base bulb and I will include adapters for US bulbs upon request. These are out of a grand home in Indiana. The chandelier measures 18" across the bottom. The body is 21" long and when you include the chain and canopy the drop is 39" It is much more attractive than the pictures show. There are no breaks, cracks or damage that I can find.
