MEASUREMENTS Approx 23" long x 13" at widest. CONDITION Item shows a lot of wear including chipping paint and surface rust. The bottom glass piece is broken. The top glass piece is missing, two panes have fallen out, and one pane is missing a yellow piece of glass. The frames of the two panes that have fallen out are a little misshapen. These French candelabras are made out of wrought iron in the Gothic style with a Fleur-de-lis design. I am not sure about how old they are. But the construction looks crude and they have a great patina. This pair did come from a 1920's mansion, but not sure if they were original to the house. There is a hook on the back to hand them up. These hung outside of a residence in Brussels Belgium. On the front door left and right of the door. But covered under a roof of the entrance. So these were protected from the rain etc… On another note. These sconces are not made to hang them straight in open air. These are not waterproof etc… These come with 5 pieces of glass each. We replaced these with new ones as the old ones were cracked and missing. The glass is new. 4 on each side of the sconce and one underneath. Originally these were painted or finished is a black paint. Rust was coming trough here and there. So somebody in the past finished these in this reddish color finish. This is a very pretty and rare old French 3 branch chandelier combining an old wrought iron and gold painted frame with amber and clear glass droplets and beads. The 3 branch arms each have faux candle sleeves and the original adjustable hanging chain has its ceiling rose attached. The wiring needs to be checked prior to use. At some point the chandelier was painted a light green and has weathered nicely to give it this beautiful look. The wiring is missing and must be re-wired before use. Description of item for sale: This elegant antique chandelier is from France and it dates to the Art Deco period of the early 1900's. The delicate salmon colored glasswork carries the mark of the French art glass maker P. Maynadier. This is classic Maynadier work made to the highest quality standard. The metalwork is also very nice and beautifully patinated. The glass is in very good antique condition with only minor scraches and no cracks or significant chips. We started the lights for some photos with temporary wiring to give an idea of how it would look properly lit but the wiring and sockets are in poor condition and must be replaced before the chandelier can be put into service. It is an ornate shape and has acanthus leaves under the arms and on the central cage. The round central section at the base also has a hammered metal effect. HUGE Vintage Wrought Iron French Italian Gothic Dragon Head Chandelier Fixture
Hello! Up for bids is a stunning. Huge, gothic wrought iron chandelier. Either French or Italian, I'm not sure. It didn't fit my dining area, at all, I totally underestimated the length. It is still dusty, and there is some paint missing in some areas. It needs some TLC. I was told it worked, but I did not bother to hook it up. It is about 53" long, the rod is permanent, and about 2.5" wide, depends on where you measure. It weighs about 27 lbs. Rumour has it it came from a castle in Redstone, Colorado, but that is only rumour. I have no proof or paperwork, just interesting! This is pick up only, or we can meet somewhere.
