Very Ornate with Scrolling Leaf ... moreDesigns and Turning Swirls. Both with 5 candle holding arms. Very attractive pair of early Wall Sconces or Candelabras. No markings found. One sconce still has the gold gilt leaf on the wall mount and on the scalloped candle arms holder. The other one is still showing mostly silver paint which has been on for a long time and has the Gold Gilt Leaf showing through the silver paint. No damage or repairs on either one. I believe they could be solid bronze but can't guarantee it. There are two top candle drip pieces that screw off and were stripped years ago showing the old solid bronze metal(Pic. 5- 8) It also shows through in different areas on both sconces. All 10 top 2 piece drip plates unscrew off for easy cleaning. These were bought out of an old Hotel which was being torn down. The two Candelabras were mounted on the sides of an old Marble Top Fire Place Mantel. They are complete and ready for mounting. One has the two original wall mounting brackets and the other one has only the one(Pic. 11& 12) These will be beautiful if refinished. They are also beautiful in the condition they are presently in. Entirely up to the buyer. This is a very useful set and would look lovely in a restored Victorian Home. Please see all pictures and ask any questions. Be sure to use close up. I am not an expert on Guilted Bronze Items but these appear to me as Bronze but I can't guarantee it. So, be sure to ask me any questions before bidding. At first I thought they were cast iron but now I am not sure. With the two top pieces stripped and definitely being either brass or bronze and seeing a brassy/bronze metal look under the layers of old patina and paint. They could be bronze. It originally had a central oil lamp with a ring of 9 candles around the perimeter. The oil lamp is now converted to hold an electric bulb. The bronzework on this chandelier is superb. With massive construction and fine Louis XVI styling and details. It is nicely patinated to a medium bronze color and we did not attempt any restoration or polishing. This is a counterweighted chandelier that can be easily adjusted up and down. However, the adjustment chains are short and not much adjustment is presently available(replacing the chains would solve this if additional height adjustment is desired) The wiring and socket are old and in poor condition and must be replaced before use. This chandelier is in very good antique condition: the only defect we note is that one of the rings holding sections of the upper chain together is smaller than the others, noticeable only on close inspection. Chandelier lights have bobeche cups that can be removed on each branch, and this could easily be made into candle burning. Very very heavy solid brass with patina, probably sealed with lacquer? Has a almost bronze finish, but probably just the brass mellowed with age. There is some extra pieces of chain included and currently it has approx 36" total of chain and cap. The chandelier is 23" Wide. It measures 32" tall, not including chain and cap parts. It is many cast brass construction which has various removable center parts and branches, around large screw core. The candle covers are okay but some have cracks or pieces missing and should be replaced to make it look perfect. The wiring to branches is on top of arms not inside like cheap hollow chandeliers. NO REPAIRS or SOLDER OR DAMAGE, EXCELLENT condition! Chandelier may be partially unscrewed in center to accomodate a smaller shipping size, so please be aware, though getting it ready for your room will take minimal reassembly, just simple attaching together again. Up for consideration is a fine set of 4 or 2 pair of Antique French Wall Sconces. The sconces date from about 1910 or so and measure 14 1/2 inches tall by about 10 inches by 5 inches deep. This set consists of 3 arms on each piece with great casting and super casting. As with good fine quality French Sconces they are cast in many separate pieces. The backplate consists of 3 separate pieces. There is a lacey bowtie top cascading down and tying into the top of the torch with descending bell flowers in the center body of the torch. ANTIQUE CRYSTAL LOUIS XV CHANDELIER GOLD ORMOLU BRONZE FROND 10 LIGHT
We are pleased to offer this SPECTACULAR antique chandelier. The chandelier is brass with an extraordinary gold plated finish. It is accented with arching bronze fronds at the top of the fixture and attached to the arms. The fixture is 10 arm and 10 light. The arms have alternating heights and lengths: 5 arms are longer and extend lower than the other 5. The arms also have alternating positioning of the bronze fronds that are attached to them. The longer arms are"double" with a decorative. swan" shaped upper arm that attaches to the frame. These attachment arms have acanthus leaf tips which give the"swans" a nice appearance. Bronze fronds extend outward from the top of the chandelier with crystals hanging from each. The chandelier is also adorned with an ornate bronze arm hub, on the bottom of the fixture and the ... moreceiling canopy/cover. There are accent finials both on the bottom of the fixture as well as on the inside of the lower section. The chandelier has old. Leaded crystal prisms which are original to the fixture. Ten of the prisms are in a diamond cut with triangular points on each side(see photo#5) The diamond cut crystals are in 2 sizes; five are 2.75" and five are 3.5" There are also ten 6.5" crystal strands with graduated beads and large rectangular prisms. Five of these dangle from the top, large fronds and 5 are located on the lower section of the chandelier. There are 55, large 2.5" crystal teardrops. Because of the intricate detailing on the frame, I have photographed with and without crystals as the frame is quite exceptional. This is an extraordinary antique chandelier. Pair 1880's Antique French Louis XV Rococo Style Bronze Wall Candelabra Sconces
Up for auction is a Gorgeous Pair of 1880's Ornately Detailed French Style Heavy Bronze Guilted Wall Candle Sconces. Very Ornate with Scrolling Leaf Designs and Turning Swirls. Both with 5 candle holding arms. Very attractive pair of early Wall Sconces or Candelabras. No markings found. One sconce still has the gold gilt leaf on the wall mount and on the scalloped candle arms holder. The other one is still showing mostly silver paint which has been on for a long time and has the Gold Gilt Leaf showing through the silver paint. No damage or repairs on either one. I believe they could be solid bronze but can't guarantee it. There are two top candle drip pieces that screw off and were stripped years ago showing the old solid bronze metal(Pic. 5- 8) It also shows through in different areas on both sconces. All 10 top 2 piece drip plates ... moreunscrew off for easy cleaning. These were bought out of an old Hotel which was being torn down. The two Candelabras were mounted on the sides of an old Marble Top Fire Place Mantel. They are complete and ready for mounting. One has the two original wall mounting brackets and the other one has only the one(Pic. 11& 12) These will be beautiful if refinished. They are also beautiful in the condition they are presently in. Entirely up to the buyer. This is a very useful set and would look lovely in a restored Victorian Home. Please see all pictures and ask any questions. Be sure to use close up. I am not an expert on Guilted Bronze Items but these appear to me as Bronze but I can't guarantee it. So, be sure to ask me any questions before bidding. At first I thought they were cast iron but now I am not sure. With the two top pieces stripped and definitely being either brass or bronze and seeing a brassy/bronze metal look under the layers of old patina and paint. They could be bronze. High quality bronzework is nicely patinated to a very pleasant antique gilt finish. The wiring and all of the lights work, but the wiring is old and should be replaced before this chandelier is put into regular use. Also, one of the sockets in the center of the lamp needs to be converted from a French to an American socket. Other than the old wiring, this chandelier is in very good antique condition. We are very pleased to offer this exceptional antique to older vintage. Light fixture. This gorgeous chandelier features exceptional craftsmanship and the finest in detailed design. The fixture is French, Louis XVI style in ornate gilt bronze or HEAVY brass. The chandelier is rounded/orb with an opened, cage design. The detailing features a"mirrored image" in that the upper and lower sections have the same patterns but in reversed order. THIS IS AN INTRICATE, EXCEPTIONAL FIXTURE. The chandelier has 6 distinct panels. Each marked with a brass, fluted column. The columns have a top and bottom finial of a large acorn. Above and below each column is a large brass banner/flag/drape with ribbon accents and beaded borders. Above and below each banner is an acanthus leaf. Attached to the front of the columns are large floral medallions. ... moreThese medallions have flower centers, detailed leaves which come from behind the flowers, and a ribbon bow accent above and below. The panels are connected by a large French wreath with drapery and swag detail. The wreaths are featured on both the upper and lower sections of the fixture. The top and bottom are both incised with an elongated egg and dart design which, with the placement, appear as large flowers. Both the top and the bottom have beautiful and large finials. Inside, the fixture houses 6 lights. The lights are"torch" design with ornate light socket housing. The lights alternate in height with every other light"torch" raised. The chandelier still retains its original, ornate chain and heavy, beautifully patterned, ceiling cover/canopy. There are no makers marks or stickers on the fixture. This is an older fixture dating to the 1930s to 1940s. It is very well made and quite heavy. It is in very good condition with very little evidence of age. They each measure 16” tall. 12” wide and 8” deep. They have a great warm, gilded bronze look but may be brass. They also have Allen screws for a very secure connection for all of the parts, so I think they are 20 th century at least. That said. When you put them on the wall, that warm gilded bronze glow looks great in person This set of sconces is well constructed and is in excellent condition. I can find no flaws with either sconce.
