My grandparents lived and worked in France in the late forties and early fifties. When I was a child. My Grandfather showed these sconces to me with a story that he had purchased them from a an old castle in France or Belgium. I do not have the details but I always remember these as being something very special. He never installed them in his home. 2 Fabulous Antique Bronze Wall Sconces w/Cherubs-13" - 10 lbs. ea.
Description These are two antique bronze wall sconces with cherubs. They are not exactly the same. The cherubs are sitting on a scalloped base with leaves on one and leaves and a bird on the other. Please check the pictures to see all the differences. The two arms are a darker bronze. I don't know if they are original to the pieces or were added. I purchased them at an estate sale on the north shore of Long Island. Each measures 13" wide and 12" tall. They have been rewired and are in working condition but as with any electrical item they should be checked before installation as wires or screws can loosen during shipping. There is a small ledge on the back so they could sit on a thin board and be wired directly in the wall. Great and unusual decorative accents for any room setting. I have shown a picture of the back. For your bidding is a gorgeous pair of Art Deco 2 Light wall sconces. The backs which are 7" in diameter are brass grating with a brass plate in the back that has been painted white. Each sconce has two lights/candles that are 6 1/2" tall with the original sleeves and pull changes to turn on and off(all working) The total length of each sconce is 9 1/2" The arms of the lights have swirled detailed designs and reach out 6 1/2" from the wall. The back plates of the sconces are held on by three nuts. There is a metal bar in which to hang them. They have the original wiring which looks to be in good condition. All parts are originals. There is a small amount of paint residue from years of remodels around the back edge of the lights that can easily be removed. LARGE ANTIQUE THEATER LOBBY BRONZE&BRASS CEILING LAMP LIGHT FIXTURE CHANDELIER 2
Here is one of two. Early 1900's era ~ SOLID BRONZE& BRASS THEATER LOBBY CEILING FIXTURE ~ Please check out the other fixture, that is just like this one, which I just listed as well. This early ceiling fixture is quite large measuring 21 inches across by 8 1/2 inches tall and weighs about 20 pounds. The entire fixture is solid brass or bronze. There is a maker's mark on the inside which is a B inside a Fleur-De-lis. This would have been a pretty expensive fixture to purchase back in the early 1900's. I would estimate that this was made around the 1910 to the very early 1920's era. It would mount flush to the ceiling and have exposed light bulbs which would add a wonderful look. I am selling this early fixture just like it was found when discovered in the estate. It has been tucked away for a very long time, and is in ... more100% all original untouched condition. The patina is wonderful and only needs a soft cleaning. There is a very light layer of beige paint along the top edge that would come right off with a little paint thinner. It will also need rewired and new sockets. It is actually a fairly easy rewire job as it is all exposed from the top. With the exception of the old cloth wiring and sockets, the lamp is in very good condition with no damage. I believe that the cast portion is bronze and the bottom pan is brass" a magnet does stick to the metal" and the entire fixture is all quality yellow metal. The original paint is in wonderful condition and would look fantastic with just a mild cleaning. This is a very unique light fixture and would be quite impressive in a Restaurant, Bar or even your home or business. They would really stand out in any type setting you choose to display it in. Up for consideration is a fine set of 4 or 2 pair of Antique French Wall Sconces. The sconces date from about 1910 or so and measure 14 1/2 inches tall by about 10 inches by 5 inches deep. This set consists of 3 arms on each piece with great casting and super casting. As with good fine quality French Sconces they are cast in many separate pieces. The backplate consists of 3 separate pieces. There is a lacey bowtie top cascading down and tying into the top of the torch with descending bell flowers in the center body of the torch. Two vintage Nautical themed wall sconces. Vintage light fixtures decorated with sailing ships. Seashells and what looks like sea weed. Each sconce has five candle stick lights on top and a single socket lamp on the bottom. Half of an original sticker is still on the back of the sconce being photographed- all I can make out is'Brotherhood of Electricians. Cannot say for sure whether these sconces are made of bronze or brass. They are heavy. With each fixture weighing over 12 lbs. Sconces measure approximately 22" tall and 16" wide. Pair Early 20th Century 2 Arm Bronze Sconces w Gilt Leaves Acorn Finials & Brass
Here we have a really great early 20th century pair of 2 arm bronze sconces with both gilt& brass leaves and acorn finials. These heavy sconces have a super deep time aged patina and we believe they date to the turn of 20th century. Each sconce has two arms and seven gilt leaves staggered along the length of the main bronze shaft. One sconce has four brass leaves between the gilt leaves and the other sconce is missing two brass leaves leaving two. All of the leaves have curved copper stems which are also used to hold the leaves to the main bronze shaft. These sconces are in untouched as-found condition with a wonderful deep time aged patina and we have not cleaned or dusted them. The patina is very deep and it is possible that it is remnants of red or brown paint. Each of these sconces will need brackets. Lighting parts, rewiring and ... morehave loose acorn finials. They each measure 13 1/4" tall. 4 1/4" across the arms and weigh 1 pound 10 ounces. They were installed in my old home and I have moved- thought I would use them but have gone more modern! So my lovely lights can now be yours! They feature ribbons. Swags, urns and floral accents. They are in excellent condition given their age and would look lovely in a tradtional, Franch or even a Hollywood Regency style decor. They measure approx. 23" long x 10" wide x 7" projection. They have 3 candle lights each and could be outfitted with shades if desired. They are truly stunning and won't disappoint you. Up for consideration is a fine set of 7 double arm bronze Gothic/Tudor/Medieval wall sconces. The sconces measure 14 1/2 inches tall 9 1/2. They are bronze with two arms with a back plate that has a variety of themes. There is some panther heads that are peeping out from behind a shield. There are some Art Nouveau type floral embellishment in the center. A Gothic stained glass window type back drop with a winged Gargoyle on the bottom. Some of the sconces have a blue backplate and a few have a burgundy color. Both look to be original coloration. Two other sconces have been painted and sometime in the past with a silver color and one sconce has been stripped completely of color.These sconces are of nice scale not too big but chunky enough to display in a room with a 10. 12 or 14 foot ceiling.
