I never saw these new but I think they are supposed to have a distressed or antique look to them. The gold leaves are shiny where they are supposed to be and also have areas where it is a darker color and gives it the distressed look. It is molded chalkware from the 20's or 30's and looks like a basket of Spring posies being held to the wall by a large gold ribbon! The arms are metal. It is a pretty piece! It was probably a boudoir piece; but would also be so cute in any cottage decor! This piece measures: 17" long x 9" across at the arms x 6" deep. Issues: This item has hollow arms that undoubtedly held electric wires and the fluted ends held a"candle" electrical fitting to house a bulb. The hole in the middle of the basket housed the on/off switch. There is no reason why this couldn't be rewired to work properly as an electric fixture! 1800's GOLD GILT 3 Arm WALL SCONCE CANDLE HOLDER, Beautiful!
This a fabulous. Still relevant Wall Sconce Candle Holder. It consists of a lovely, ornate wall bracket with four holes to use for attachment to a wall or post. Extending from the Wall Bracket is an arm with three openings to support the Three Arms containing the Candle Holders. The Three Arms"swing left to right" to direct the candlelight as needed. For the day and time, this was quite innovative. Candlelight was flattering, but a poor source of illumination. This sconce was most likely used near a dinner table or in an interior walkway where seeing details wasn't necessary. If you look closely, you'll see the last candles that were used, still remain in residue. It has left a greenish cast to the metal like verdigris. I was told by the estate official that this was cast bronze but I cannot verify that. It is harder and ... morethe metal able to be cast with more detail that cheaper cast white metal. Looking over the four components to the unit, it This appears to have weathered use and handling for over 100 years. There's no damage, flaws or repairs, even the gold gilt is mostly intact. Each medallion under the candle holders has 5 tiny holes for glass prisms to hang; these crystal prisms are relatively easy to replace and add back. Candlelight flickering in crystal prisms is enchanting. Please use the photographs to see details that a written description cannot provide. They measure 12" long.15 1/2" with the crystals by 3 1/4" wide and stand out from the wall 6 3/4" The sconces do work as shown, they each have a clicker switch on the front, that does work. The wiring in one of the sconces appears to be original and the other has been rewired at some point. They take standard Edison base light bulbs. The sconces have pretty crystal bobeshes and each has six spike prisms. Note that the bobeshes have their Made in Austria tags, only one pictured, but they are both there. There is a about a half inch of play at the joining of the cup part to the arm. As shown in the images. I don't know if the cup should move like it does or not. There appears to be a little nip in the stud hinge thing but it might be original. If it is damage it should be an easy repair. The arm measures approx. 8" from the wall connecter to the outside of the cup and is approx. 9" from the top finial to bottom finial. PAIR WALL SCONCE TWO ARM REVERSE CUT MIRROR PRISM ART DECO LIGHT FIXTURE RP&Co.
Up for auction a very old pair of electric wall sconces. I'm estimating this to be from the 1920's to the 1930's in age due to the cloth wiring still attached to the lamps. The lights features an oval glass mirror with a reverse cut Art Deco flower design, of a Tulip and two bulls eye flowers with leaves, the light has two arms, with sockets, 6 cut glass prisms hanging from each of the socket bases and then when you look at the tops of the lights they features a 3 arm spray with 2 pressed glass flowers and pressed glass star with a hanging prism at the top, I did find tiny bumps with a hole at the bottom curve to the arms so there might have been a chain or more hanging prisms but they are gone. I'm not sure what type of metal the light fixtures are made of, the finish has rubbed off in spots and black is showing thru, so ... moreyou will either have to leave the finish as is or they will need to be re-painted. The metal is not brass as a magnet will sick to the arms of the lamp. On the back it is marked RP&Co. The light fixtures measures roughly 14 inches from top to bottom, roughly 10 inches wide at widest point, they have two holes for hanging, each socket has it's own pull chain. I think they are lovely and I would love to keep them but my Husband says no! LOL They are just perfect Shabby Chic, the pair would be lovely hung in any room in your home. They will need work to make them electric again, or you could remove the electrical parts and make them into candle scones. I purchased these at a local estate auction they are old used and not in mint condition, they are what they are just cool old sconces. Double arm Antique BRASS WALL SCONCE RUFFLED GLASS SHADES Early 1900's Art Deco This is for an antique solid brass wall light fixtures in good condition. The leaf decoration is cast brass. The rest of the canopy is pressed brass and has a couple of small dings in the smooth part. There is no nut and threaded tubing for the center of the fixture. The clear& frosted glass shades have a lovely ruffled edge and pleat design. The pleats are frosted on one side and clear on the other side. It gives the appearance of a very light frosting. No chips or cracks and they have a lovely bell tone when flipped with your finger. The gracefully curved arms have an engraved design on them. There are 2 matching sconces listed also that look like they were used with this one or in the next room. The glass is similar but does not match the glass on this ... more1 exactly. The other sconces that are listed have clear glass that is slightly smaller. Appears to be Bronze in material and color-I see no chip marks from surface to indicate otherwise and heavy for size. I am thinking it is Victorian. Pierced or open in so many areas throughout design! Just fabulous! This item purchased at estate sale and I received no screws with it. So you will need to buy ones to use to hang. It does swing with a bit of force from right to left on the arm(to about a 75 degree angel from base on either side max) It is in good used condition and really nice looking. I do see a circle or O or Q on it under arm on back but everything else is too muddled or just part of the piece and so I cannot say if this is a marked piece or not for sure nor identify the maker.
