Arts& Crafts, Deco, Victorian, Nouveau. My pictures do it no justice.The Large shade is Beautifully designed with a very fancy 3D design that is Just Amazing! Notice the Unusal designed scallop rim with an alternating diamond point. The bottom also has quite a detailed center that holds the brass finial/hanging crystal. WOW! When lit the 3D clear glass pattern in the shade just comes alive with a Beautiful lighting display. Made from thick, pressed glass between in the early 1900's in France at the Verlys factory. DES HANOTS was a signature used by Verlys(VERrerie des andeLYS) for some of its highest quality Art Deco products destined for export. The factory was aslo favoured produced of colourless glass for Hettier& Vincent who specialised in the metal components of French Art Deco lighting. Most of this metal work was un-signed and I can find no markings on this hanging system. The quality of detail to the chain and ceiling rose is exceptional and quite possibly theirs. The diameter is 35 cms or nearly 14 inches. The bowl depth is 10 cms/ 4 inches and it weighs nearly 3 kilograms- ... more6.6 pounds. Circular with geometric berries. Flowers buds and leaves design, the thick glass has a light frosted texture. The glass is in great condition. There are some small charming bubbles common in method of glass production. There is a tiny fleabite or two to the rim and to the underside of the bowl. I have had to look very hard for these. They are hardly noticeable and I only mention them for accuracy. An example is shown in picture 11. Each of the 3 holes for the hanging points has some small chips around them. Which is totally standard for this kind of lampshade. Included in the sale is modern wiring suitable for 110v. 220v or 240v fitted with a European B22 lamp holder. This can easily be replaced or converted to another size depending on your needs. But the sticker that probably accompanied it at one time is missing. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no chips or repairs. The wiring is modern. I have tested the fixture and it works correctly. Judging by the small hole near the center mounting hole, it probably had a pull chain on/off witch when it was new, but the switch has been removed. It was common for the early fixtures to have pull chains because they generally did not have a wall switch to turn it on& off. The fixture is 10-5/8" long. 6-1/4" wide, and 3" deep. Everything that is in the picture is what you will be receiving. These fixtures are aluminum and in great shape to be from the 30's. They originally came out of a 2-story department store and have been sitting in the second story of this store ever since they replaced the lighting with florescent lights. The fixtures have been in the same store the entire time and very well cared for all these years. I have 10 of the actual large round light fixtures which if you look closely at the 10th picture. You can tell there is a gap on the under side which allows light to be reflected onto the ceiling. There may be some small area's with a few tiny rust spots, but not very noticeable ... moreas you can tell by the pictures. There are four layers and a shiny top which adds to the look of the fixture itself. These measure from the base to the tip of the top approximately 8 1/2 inches. The diameter measuring from the bottom outer edge is approximately 21 3/8" wide. I have 6 of the cone shaped pieces that fit into the larger round fixture itself. They have 3 longer pieces that attach onto the cone. At the bottom of these. There is a prong which simply slips into the fixture. I am missing one of the longer pieces which attach to the cone, however, you could easily make one yourself. As you can tell by the pictures, one of them is even held on by a screw(which could be cut down more flush to make it not as noticeable) Hanging from the ceiling-it would not be noticeable at all. These measure 12 3/4" measuring from the ground standing on the 3 prongs to the tip of the cone. The cone itself measures 8 3/4" and the diameter of the smaller hole on the top of the cone measures 3/4" The widest part of the cone at the bottom measures 3 3/16" I have 6 of the ceiling fixtures that attach to the top of the ceiling. There is no damage to the glass at all. A couple of very minor white paint flakes.and I honestly mean minor. The white is just a hint'dingy' from the years but cleaned up quite well.
