The measurem e nts are 26" deep x 38" wi de x 29 3/4" tall. The front drops down and in side is a writing platform w ith an inkwell hole. Pencil rest, and cubbies in t he back for en v elopes. Etc. To the right is a drawer which actually comes completely out. The hinges have been replaced on this front piece as well as t he glass kno bs. There is an old keyhole and the lock seems to still be intact. However we do not have a key. My husband had his computer on this desk and be cause the underside of the des k is open. He was able to keep the keyboard on the pull-out platform, and the wires fit right throu gh. The wood is oak and is in beautiful condition ... morefor being old. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Top of desk 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep and the desk top is 29 1/2" above the floor. Will ship via Greyhound Bus to a station of your choice for you to pick up. 900- 1920's Solid oak desk. VGC, Very cool- This is an amazing old desk. It is solid Quarter Sawn Oak. It has been lovingly restored and is in fantastic shape. The dimensions are;40" wide x 35" deep x 30.5" tall The lower shelf gluides up as the top rolls back. This was for equipment like a typewriter. Adding machine, or dictaphone. The"action" of the roll top is very smooth and balanced. It is very sturdy and all the wood is solid. No veneer or plywood anywhere. It's nice full size while not being overwhelming in any room. It measures 43" high. 48" wide and 30" deep. It is at least 80 years old. Original owner was an elementary school teacher who had it for 40 years. I got it in the very early 1970's. In mint condition. VERY OLD ANTIQUE SLANT DROP FRONT SECRETARY WRITING DESK FROM ENGLAND CONSTRUCTED OF SOLID OAK- I BELIEVE THE HARDARE IS ORIGINAL WITH THE POSSIBLE EXCEPTION OF A FEW SCREWS. THE BACKPLATE ON ONE OF THE SMALL DRAWER KNOBS INSIDE THE DESK IS MISSING. THE 6TH PHOTO SHOWS A CLOSEUP OF THE OLD DROP PULLS THAT ARE ON ALL OF THE 3 LOWER DRAWERS(although it is upside down) THE ENGLISH WERE AMONG THE FIRST TO USE NATURAL PLANT PIGMENTS IN STAINING WOOD FURNITURE AND THIS DESK IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THAT PROCESS. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. It works fine on the glass door that encloses the glass shelves and it also works fine on the drawer under the desk top. The mechanism is missing to lock the large door under the desk top. The piece is numbered with"172" carved into the wood inside the large storage area under the desk top. It is"Stickley" styled with a clean, simple design. The desk top is compromised of 2 planks which provide a generous work space. What a clever idea someone had. Take a completely refinished spool cabinet. That usually sat on a counter, and make a base for it, and now you have a desk. The condition is excellent. It has all the original knobs and hinges but the writing surface has been replaced. I have a solid oak stool that is a perfect height to make this piece usable as a desk. A vintage Roll Top Desk made of Oak. Circa 1920. We are pleased to present this vintage Roll Top Desk for your consideration. It is made of solid Oak wood and dates to around the 1920's. The Desk has seven(7) drawers. The center one with individual lock, and the others locking when the roll top is down. A variety of nooks and compartments offer storage above the desk surface. The height of the upper section is low enough to allow this piece to be placed in the open, and still offer a view behind the Desk. The back is finished, further assisting an open placement. Keys are included for the two major locks, but missing for the small compartment near the right side(see last picture) The Desk measures 43 inches high. 54 inches wide, and 30-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks on it to identify the manufacturer. The Desk can be disassembled ... moreinto several pieces, to ease the task of moving it and particularly to simplify the job of getting it through doorways. Wear is consistent with the age of the piece. Exterior surfaces look quite good with only a few areas of worn finish. The working surfaces including the two pull-outs show considerably more wear as would be expected on a well used piece of furniture. There is no serious damage or issues. And we rate the overall condition as very good. This is a charming example of the classic Oak Roll Top Desk. With the added flexibility of a finished back allowing it to be placed in the open, as well as against a wall.
