We purchased a small lot of refinished antiques from an adorable couple, and this antique library table was one of the pieces. This beautiful table features an ogee bevel edge, round corner top, and is all tiger sawn oak with a large dove tail drawer in the front. It has cabriole legs that come down into a bottom shelf support and terminate in a detail toenail claw foot. The desk is 38 inches wide, 26 inches deep and 29.75 inches high. The bottom shelf is 9 inches high. The size of the large drawer is 31 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep.

I will describe condition as best as possible and have taken many pictures which show every side of item. PLEASE NOTE- white spots on desk in photos are fresh snowflakes that just started to fall. Desk is stored indoors but photos were taken while moving the desk. Measurements: Approx. 29-1/4" in height. 44" wide at widest part Table Top measures 27-3/4" x 43-7/8" 22" from floor to bottom of drawer legs are 6" wide outside edge of leg to outside edge of other leg approx. 36" shelves on sides have opening approx. 11" high x 24-1/4" wide from floor to bottom of cross pieces between legs is approx. 5-7/8" Handle pulls are original ... moreto desk and could easily be changed as one has a screw through front of knob while other is entirely wood front. There are some scratches and dings to wood as can be seen in photos. One rear leg had slight exposure to dampness at one time and has a little swelling. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Top of desk 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep and the desk top is 29 1/2" above the floor. Will ship via Greyhound Bus to a station of your choice for you to pick up. We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a large center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker ... moreis located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance(which I happen to like) The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, rusted spots. If you don't care for the aged character, you could strip and refinish pretty easily. The desk measures 28" tall. The Hughes Tool Company Desk was removed from the Executive Offices of the Hughes Tool Company many years ago. During the company's first of many remodeling projects. It was wrapped for protection and stored in an airport storage hanger by Sugarland. A brass plate located on the left inside panel on the desk authenticates the desk as"Property of Hughes Tool Company” with the serial number for asset inventory of the company. It is constructed of solid walnut with 24K yellow gold trim that wraps around the top. The drawers have fitted wooden partitions that are removal and are engraved with the Doten-Dunton Desk Co. logo; along with several other places. The selection of mahogany used is quite attractive. ... moreThe wood has a lovely color and patina. A key is present and all but the upper right hand drawer lock. That lock is broken. The drawer pulls are solid brass. The type of handle is a swan neck pull. A writing surface of fine, red leather adorns the top. The care and attention to detail that went into the construction of this antique writing desk is evident through the hand cut dovetails. Dovetails are the strongest way to join a drawer. They take careful precision to do properly. But offer the greatest longevity to the piece. You will also notice the back is fully finished which allows you to place the desk in the middle of a room if your layout requires that at any time. Overall this desk is in very good condition. It is strong. Sturdy, and will last for many years. The leather has sustained the most wear of the desk. You will notice in the accompanying pictures that the right side of the leather has a number of parallel lines which are hard to see unless you are looking closely. There is also a light colored stain near the middle. The mahogany has minor surface wear here and there, but is overall in very nice shape. The height from the floor to the bottom of the desk is 23.7

This graceful. Pedestal desk is in good condition for its age. It was refinished many years ago after it was found abandoned in a Chicago area alley and has belonged to my husband for over 40 years. There are no manufacturer marks on it. It has one locking drawer with hand-made key. Drawer knobs are wood, but are probably not original to the piece. Drawer is 23 ¼” wide x 19 ¼” deep. India ink stains in the drawer give an indication of its age. Drawers have dove-tail construction and are solid wood. The top writing surface is in good condition, but there are some gouges and dents that give it‘character’ The pedestal is 31 ½” wide and is 19 ½” in depth. There is some veneer chipped off of one of the pedestal ends and some surface scratches on the base of the legs as shown in the pictures. ANTIQUE ART DECO c1926 STENCILED AGED STEEL BRASS LEG LIBRARY OFFICE DESK TABLE
PLEASE READ OUR SHIPPING INFORMATION PRIOR TO PURCHASE. We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a ... morelarge center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker is located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance. The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, COSMETIC, rusted spots. If you don't care for the aged character, you could strip and refinish pretty easily. The desk measures 28" tall. It is 29.75" wide and 24" deep(front to back) It has a knee space height of 24" The drawer is 17" wide. 13" front to back and 1.5" tall(interior space measurements) THE DESK IS EXTREMELY HEAVY.
