The desk features ... morea gorgeous original finish and period hardware. There are four graduated drawers over flared french feet and shaped skirt. The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. Here is a vintage 1920-30s oak drop front writing desk. It has the original dark oak finish as shown. The desk is 40 inches high by 29.5 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The desk has the original pigeon holes in the interior with one divider missing. The interior does show an ink stain on the right hand side. There is a small area of wear on the left side under the long drawer. The desk has its original key which does work but the lock does not stay in the locked position. The lock may need to be cleaned. Estate fresh! A fantastic vintage Gustav Stickley arts and crafts 729 drop front desk. Early 20th century made around 1909. Decent original finish with hammered copper pulls and complete pigeon hole gallery insert inside with key. Two over three drawers. Thru-tenon slab sides and pegged to the front lower stretcher also pegged in the front by the top. Condition is very good but the drop needs restoration. It has numerous chips in the veneer. Some roughness on the edges and front corner on the feet and edges but typical wear from something that's over one hundred years old. The pigeon hole gallery inside has some wear and the door is cracked and needs repair. Slight separation on the left slab side but very tight. No wobbles or looseness. Measurements are approximately 36.5" wide by about 15" deep and is 45" high. Signed ... morewith the red decal compass mark inside the right drawer. Welcome Today's listing is for a 1950's Walnut desk manufactured by the Central Desk Company in Chicago. Illinois. The desk drawer faces and typewriter compartment door are constructed of solid Walnut as well as all of the frame pieces. The top and side panels are Walnut veneer. Originally the desk was all the same color.blah. Boring and normal. I decided to refinish the top to remove unsightly scratches and a water stain(probably from a potted plant) clean and recoat all of the panels, drawer faces and door and paint the frame pieces, bases and hardware black with a low sheen lacquer. On the right hand side of the desk is an old typewriter roll-out and lift compartment.
