Some vintage wear, but nothing to diminish the antique beauty. The roll top rolls beautifully. The top cover appears to be restored. High quality. Hard to find swivel chair with very few flaws. Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. Look at the carved handles, which are much better than normal, and how thick the top and swing sides and writing surface are. Everything on this piece is much better quality than the average desk. This antique Marshall Field's roll top is in good condition. I know that this piece originally came from the Marshall Fields headquarters before it shut down and then was sold to a Merrill Lynch executive. There are signs of wear on the corners and the legs from a desk chair but is in very good condition overall for being nearly 100 years old. All drawers open and close smoothly. And so does the roll top. Wooden rolltop desk made around 1920 by A.H. Revell& Co furniture. Beautiful condition. But eight inch section of the top of the rolltop is unattached. That 8-inch section is original and matching, is in good condition, and is included. The top(secretary/rolltop portion) can be taken off and that section is 50 inches wide X 13 inches tall X 32 inches deep. Six drawers and one small door with non-functional key in top piece. Bottom(desk portion) is 50 inches wide X 31.5 inches tall X 32 inches deep. Seven Drawers in bottom piece. Top drawer on each side automatically locks and requires a hidden lever to be pushed down to unlock them. All drawers and doors work and move smoothly. All eight legs are capped in a dark brass and all have a functioning swivel wheel. Vintage Antique Mahogany Rolltop Desk by Derby Desk Company
This Roll-top desk is a Fine antique. Solid mahogany manufactured by Derby Desk Company Boston, Massachusetts. The desk lock is by Corbin cabinet lock company with a patent date Dec 16, 1884. I think the desk is approximately 1920, but I've gotten that from looking at other desks and growing up with other antique furniture. The size is 50" wide by 33 1/2" deep by 50 1/2" tall. It has the S type tambour roll. After the roll top is open. The side panel guides have locks that when released, allow the hinged sides to swing out of the way. All the cubbyholes, drawers and hardware are original and in good condition. The desk has raised panel sides and back including back of kneehole, with none missing. HISTORY: I bought the desk from a Mr. Harmon in Phoenix 1998 and have a receipt in the desk that Mr. Harmon bought it from his ... morefather Nathaniel P. Harmon in April 1980 in Jaffrey New Hampshire. The senior Mr. Harmon bought the desk from the original owner 40 years previous. Who was from Boston, Massachusetts. He left a stogie burn on the top of the desk, which somebody partially rubbed out, and now it's called a character mark. I thought of doing an overall staining, touch up and polishing, but decided not to, pending what a buyer might want to do if anything. This desk has been in a smoke free house since 1998. Vintage 1950's Child's Rolltop Desk and Chair
This is my childhood rolltop desk and swivel chair which dates back to approximately 1953-1956. It has been loved and well cared for through the years and still retains its lustre. I believe it to be made of solid maple and is very sturdy. Inside of the rolltop are 5 cubbyhole compartments and 1 drawer. The front has 4 drawers and 1 pull-out shelf for extra writing space. The desk measures 37 1/2" high x 29 3/4" wide x 18" deep. The swivel chair is 27 1/2" high. The seat measures 14 1/4" x 14" Location is Adamstown. PA, near Lancaster and Reading; 1 hour from Philadelphia. There are very few signs of wear. A perfect gift for that special child.

Large Antique Tiger Oak Finish C style ROLLTOP DESK with interior drawers and cubicles circa 1900. This was obviously a mid-level managers desk. Extremely useable(and fun) with heavy solid wood and no expensive brass to polish. I have used it on a regular basis since I picked it up at an auction in 1971. Condition: signs of wear consistent with age and use. Various use marks, stains and scratches. no keys) Excellent restoration project. Please view the pictures. There was a repair to deal with a weakness in the desk when the roll-top is removed. Several minor repairs are still needed. But I choose not to make them so that I didn't mess up the value of the desk by doing them wrong. All of the original wood and screws are present for the repairs. A beautiful late-1800s-1900s solid Oak rolltop desk. Double pedestal possibly a Cutler. This desk was purchased long ago by our family in Sweetwater. TX when the Nolan county courthouse was renovated. It had been used by then district attorney Roy Crane. His son would later come to create the Buzz Sawyer comic strip. It was completely restored about 12 years ago by one of the Austin. TX refinishing companies that did the furniture restoration for the State capitol. Perfect finish. All drawers work, rolltop is exquisite and also has the lower back kick panel and authentic hardware. Numerous"secret"compartments. Here is a unique vintage child's roll top desk and matching adjustable swivel chair. In solid excellent condition. The desk measures 35"H x 27"W x 15"D. It has pigeon holes and 2 drawers. The slats are secure and their supporting canvas is intact and without fraying. The matching chair measures 24" high when wound all the way down, and may be unwound safely to about 28" It is most likely an Eastman, but labels on back have been torn too much to see. This is a charming little desk that is additionally beautiful because of the children's markings it carries. It is not a perfect child's relic from the 1930's-1940's. Rather. It was clearly in use by children of its era! There is a Sarah Crewe(Shirley Temple) quote from the 1939 film"The Little Princess, carved into the desktop by a child's ... morehand. The carving isn't immediately noticeable, and it was difficult to photograph the entire passage because much of it begins further back under the pigeon holes. In addition. There are 4 children's names and ages, scrawled in faded red crayon, in big, looping beginner cursive, hidden on one side of the bottom drawer, not at all visible unless the drawer is pulled out. There are two Henderson children's names, and two Powell children's names Much vintage/antique furniture pieces seem to be valued most for their flawlessness. While structural integrity/overall condition is no doubt very important. These items were in fact owned, loved and used by others before us. The history they carry is often just as important as aesthetic beauty, and the marks left by others may often be an enchanting enhancement of the original aesthetic! I am selling this locally only as I cannot imagine the cost to ship this. This is the sale of the Desk. Chair and typewriter only. The desk is in excellent condition and it is believed that its last address was with a 1916 Ford Motor Company office of some kind. All drawers open and close easily w/o catching. The mechanical system for hiding the typewriter works smoothly as well as does the rolling cover for protecting privacy. The chair is of the same information. The leather is in excellent condition and all the casters work nicely. No signs of cracked or damaged wood. The Underwood typewriter has patent information from May 1900 to August 17th 1915. It seems to function though it doesn't have the ink wheels. This is for local delivery only unless you would like to ship it yourself. I will not ship at all!

The Desk has seven(7) drawers. The center one with individual lock, and the others locking when the roll top is down. A variety of nooks and compartments offer storage above the desk surface. The height of the upper section is low enough to allow this piece to be placed in the open, and still offer a view behind the Desk. The back is finished, further assisting an open placement. Keys are included for the two major locks, but missing for the small compartment near the right side(see last picture) The Desk measures 43 inches high. 54 inches wide, and 30-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks on it to identify the manufacturer. The Desk can be disassembled ... moreinto several pieces, to ease the task of moving it and particularly to simplify the job of getting it through doorways. Wear is consistent with the age of the piece. Exterior surfaces look quite good with only a few areas of worn finish. The working surfaces including the two pull-outs show considerably more wear as would be expected on a well used piece of furniture. There is no serious damage or issues. And we rate the overall condition as very good. This is a charming example of the classic Oak Roll Top Desk. With the added flexibility of a finished back allowing it to be placed in the open, as well as against a wall. Condition: Is used but is in absolutely great condition like new! No scratches. No wearing of the wood, no dents, clean, roll top slides very nicely, drawers open great no jerkiness, medium size desk, and spacious enough to fit a sewing machine on it and more! The desk is 45 inches tall, 32 inches wide and 24 inches in length(measuring from side of desk) The top shelf part of the desk is 32 1/2 inches wide and 8 1/2 length. This auction is for an amazing desk. I have looked everywhere and cannot find another one like it. It is made of all metal except the bottom few inches of the legs. Even the lattice work on the sides is metal. There is also some brass or copper trim in some areas. Those areas are the handle. The feet on the legs, and on the front lip of the desk top. The desk measures 52 inches tall, 45 inches wide, and 30 inches deep. The desktop is 36.5 inches off the floor. I do not know what the original color was. It was painted at one point a brown color and then someone started to restore it and painted it red. I think if it was completed stripped it down to bare metal it would be unbelieveable, I just do not have the time or resources to have it restored. It is a really well made piece. It easily breaks down into small components to transport. As ... moreyou can see in the photos it shows some wear and needs a little tlc but really not that much. All the parts are there minus a few screws and a small spring. I have the lock to the top it just needs to be put back in. I do not have the key though. The top does open and close but I am sure some WD-40 will really make it smooth again. The spring is put in the drawer so when the rolltop is closed the drawer will lock. That is a sub dollar part and then you will have to get several screws to really secure the whole piece. It is solid and can be used as is, but there is a shelf inside the desk that needs screws and the trim on the front of the desk also needs screws. Really not that hard to do and I may even do it myself here in the next couple days and revise the listing. Antique Rolltop Desk Secretary Hutch Top
Offered here is Grandpa's roll top desk from his dental office. It is well used and shows some wear. The left side of the roll top has the first few slats loose but the rest of the roll is in great shape. This is an easy fix. The locking mechanism is missing as is the key. I think but am not sure that it is made of Walnut. The hutch top is removable. Held on by two pegs, the glass doors are in tact, and it has two shelves. Washington State residents add 8.3% tax. Antique Stratton Trutype Rolltop Desk - Great Condition
This was my grandfather's desk that he handed it down to my Dad; I believe it was purchased around 1937(they lived in Pennsylvania until my dad was 15. It was stored at my step-grandmother's house for about 15 years and my Mom stored it until she passed. It is absolutely beautiful. Anyone who knows anything about Stratton furniture and quality construction will understand this is a steal!

It has been refininshed but the original label on center pull out drawer has original label. the roll top it beautiful and the backing cloth is solid. there are a few knicks and stains about. But it has great colors and pattern. I have moved into a smaller house so it has to go. It is now located in richmond virginia. uship would be a value way to get it where it needs to go. the drawers slide well the file dividers are all in. iIf you are tired of mass-produced Ikea look alikes that last maybe a year. Then, this gorgeous piece of furniture with multiple drawers may be what you are looking for. The desk is 59 1/2" long by 31 1/2" deep and stands 30" off the floor. The top, with fully functional tamber cover, is another 20" tall with a 12" wide top. The top detaches from the two pedestals which are separated by a modesty panel. Both pedestals have pull-out writing surfaces measuring about 17" by 12" The left pedestal has four drawers and the right a larger drawer with five smaller ones below it as well as another small drawer and three small shelves. The bottom of the lower, smaller drawer is open backed and has a spring to hold papers and a pasted-in index card bearing the notation"Moon Desk Company Muskegon, Michigan.
