We have since found out through an online appraisal company that ... moreis is an Antique Drop Front Writing Desk" from around 1900-1915. But it will really always be"Grandpa's writing desk" Unfortunately my seller is downsizing their home and grandpa's desk needs to find a new place to go. It is a lovely little piece measuring 39" tall. 27" across and 15" deep. It is in nice condition given it's age, but it does have a small chip out of the front right corner post. You can see it in the photos. The interior is plain with no shelves, drawers or cubbies. The information that I received from the appraisal company is as follows: The drop front oak(not quarter-sawn oak) writing desk is a Mission style Arts and Crafts desk; there is a keyhole in the top of the fall front and a small gallery or backplate on the top back of the desk. There is an"H" stretcher in the middle bottom of the desk and a vertical"X" stretcher on each bottom side of the desk; the legs are quadrant legs; there is one drawer with round brass pulls beneath the fall front. I would date the desk C. 1900-1915; the value would be between $625.00 and $700.00 in today's retail market. Due to the size of this item it will not be available for shipping. I will describe condition as best as possible and have taken many pictures which show every side of item. PLEASE NOTE- white spots on desk in photos are fresh snowflakes that just started to fall. Desk is stored indoors but photos were taken while moving the desk. Measurements: Approx. 29-1/4" in height. 44" wide at widest part Table Top measures 27-3/4" x 43-7/8" 22" from floor to bottom of drawer legs are 6" wide outside edge of leg to outside edge of other leg approx. 36" shelves on sides have opening approx. 11" high x 24-1/4" wide from floor to bottom of cross pieces between legs is approx. 5-7/8" Handle pulls are original ... moreto desk and could easily be changed as one has a screw through front of knob while other is entirely wood front. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Up for your bidding consideration is this antique solid oak library/librarian's mission desk. This desk is in overall good to very good condition. It is made of oak and is very solid and sturdy. There are no apparent signs of damage or previous repairs. It measures 28" wide. 48" long and 28" tall. There are book shelves on both end caps and lovely designs cut into the legs. The drawer pulls in and out smoothly, as it should. The top's finish does show some wear from age and usage(see pictures) which can be easily refinished, if so desired. This would be a very nice addition to your home's décor. The provided pictures should speak for themselves. Rare mission oak library table by the miller cabinet co of Rochester ny circa 1910. Very similar in design to l and jg designs and in fact the pulls are gustav stickley v. Very nice original medium brown finish with minor honest wear. Mostly to the front of the top. Bookshelf underneath with 4 keyed tenons. Quartersawn oak. Measures 48 inches long by 29 inches high by 29 3/4 inches deep. Signed with paper label and impressed numbers. Pick up in nw ct or nyc. I can deliver in nw ct nyc corridor. Antique original mission desk library table tiger oak measures approx 28 x 48 x 29-1/2. Drawer is missing the pulls. Cross-piece under drawer. Left side has a chip as can be seen in photo. Wood panel on bottom of drawer has a split as can also be seen in photo. Overall good condition, nice tiger oak pattern of wood grain. Left side of table top has 2 very minor spots where tip of screws from underneath have made minor wear to the top. Not very noticeable. See photos for overall condition. Buyer can make arrangement for local pickup in southwest Michigan area(Kalamazoo/Battle Creek/Grand Rapids) or we can work with you to have shipped via Greyhound or your freight company if you make the arrangements. Here for sale I have an old mission style desk. This has been in my family for many years. I believe this is called a library desk. It has a drawer on either side and book shelves on either end. Looks like but I don't know if it's Stickly or not. Could not find a name. It measures 44" long, 28" wide, 30 3/4" high measuring from wheels attached to legs. Type of wood, not an expert but looks like tiger oak. It has been well taken care of, not damaged but of course from age and usage has blemishes here and there. Local pick up only
