Here is a beautiful child's desk& chair set. Somewhere between 1900& 1940. This is a small version of the larger ones made then. Picture#8 shows some letters& words that I cannot seem to make out. Of what was probably the manufactor. It has the original stain, which has not even been attempted to re-finish. Some think that would ruin this set. Children have definitely used it, for the wear you see, but it is solid and sturdy, and has lots of wear left in it. There are three drawers on the right side, and the top one locks. you may be able to find a key for this, or ask a locksmith to make one. Above the top drawer that locks is a little slide-out board for writing on. There is a large center long drawer too. The chair swivels, and has cast iron framing, with an adjusting center screwing device which allows for the chair height ... moreto be as low to the floor as 14 inches, up to 16 inches, easily. At it's taller setting, the chair is 29 inches tall, from top of back to floor. The seat is 12 5/8" wide and 12 3/4" deep. This is extremely well made, and sure belongs in someone's home with a child who will enjoy and use it. The desk measure 29 inches tall, and is 33 1/2 inches wide and 18 inches deep.

Up for purchase is this beautiful Drop Front Secretary Desk with Glass Door a three shelf book or display case on top. I am told this is Birds Eye Maple but I am not 100% sure. I am not sure how old this is but I believe it to be an Antique based on the locks on the desk and the hardware. As you can see in the pictures this displays and looks beautiful. This is a unique item. Has been in family for over 100 years. Story is that it was made by F.L. Shafer Company in Chicago for the owner(who was somehow related to me by marriage) Definitely a custom roll top desk. It is all cherry with bird's eye maple inlays on the raised panels on the sides and drawers. The top has the most amazing wood inlay. The top has been covered in glass since the day it was made. It has no scratches. The roll top goes up and down smoothly. All the drawers slide in and out smoothly as well. Desk is original. It has never been re-finished. It is 62" wide, 27.5" deep and 46" high. It has been in my possession for about 30 years. We are downsizing and just don't have room to bring this piece along. Looking for good home for its next 100+ years.

Just removed from New York City Estate. We have a pleasure to offer you this beautiful museum quality antique English turn of 19th/ 20th century Carlton House Desk. The piece is more than impressive, made by one of the world's best furniture makers"Maple& Co" style and quality of work is mind blowing! Including an inkwell, while the flat surface is covered with an original brown gold tooled leather(please see the photos) Front of the desk has three drawers, one large in the middle, flanked with two smaller ones on each side. Each drawer has it's own antique functioning lock. Locks are stamped and next to the lock, branded in wood is the Maple& Co name. Drawers are dovetailed beautifully, in the front ... moreand in the back, secondary wood is the high quality mahogany. Beautiful colored wood is decorated with gorgeous inlay. Stands on four straight, tapering legs, bottoms ending in castor wheels. Desk has a spectacular appearance, as the photos will attest. It is in good condition.
