ANTIQUE Red Stained Glass Lightning Rod BALL Weathervane Dark RUBY BARN Find
You won't believe how my husband came across this beautiful lightning rod ball! He was on a farmstead here in Kansas. Looking in barns. Outside of one he found it on the ground. The owner said the dogs(5 of them) had been rolling it around on the ground. We can't believe but it had to have blown off the rod, rolled down the barn roof and dropped on the ground! How it survived all that I don't know! Anyway it measures approx. 4 1/2 inches from end to end. There is a large shallow dimple from when it was made. It is a beautiful dark ruby color. There is clear color at the ends. So it has been painted originally(on the inside) It has mold lines from where it was blown in a mold. I see a couple small areas that look like bubbles but I believe they are not bubbles only spots of lighter color, hardly noticeable. I am unable to get a ... moregood picture of them. Vintage Rooster Aluminum Weathervane Copper Base Brass Rod Rooftop Barn 38" Tall
You are bidding on a vintage rooster weathervane. It is approximately 60 years old or slightly older. It was attached on the top of a roof and was taken down and stored when the new owner of the property rebuilt there. It comes apart and if you look at the pictures you can see how it goes together. The base is made of copper with is painted black. The copper is placed over a wood base. The paint has flaked in several places. The base measures approximately 17 inches on each of the 4 sides. The rod that holds the weathervane looks like it is made of brass but I'm not sure. The directional N-S-E-W sits on this rod and there are large screws that tighten it onto the rod. The S mark was repaired at one time as you can see from the picture. The rooster and arrow sit on top of the directional N-S-E-W and will spin freely on the rod. I believe ... morethe rooster. Arrow and directions are all made of aluminum. This piece looks to have been painted a black with red markings. I am leaving it the way it was found and you may choose to repaint it to your liking. I do not see any type of markings on this piece as to who the manufacturer may have been. The whole weathervane assembled measures 38 inches tall. From the bottom of the directional N-S-E-W to the top of the rooster it measures 20 inches tall. The distance across from the front of the arrow to the back measures 24 inches long. I will pack this unassembled so it will be easier to ship. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a message. The diameter of the pipe fitting is 1.5" and it has 3 holes to run a screw threw( one of the holes has a broken screw in it i would think you could drill/tap it out) I found this at a local auction and was told that it was Lightning rod toper that came from New Orleans. Antique Americana Large Folksy Rooster Weathervane ~ Painted Iron & All Original
Antique Americana Large Folksy Rooster Weathervane ~ Painted Iron& All Original Up for auction is a wonderful antique rooster weathervane. An all original and one-of-a-kind weathervane that likely dates to the 1920s. Based on his folksy deco design. He was hand made, cut from heavy duty iron, and made to fit onto a rod, so he turns freely depending on the wind. This fellow has a great natural patina from being outside so long. The paint, which is a dark barn red, is the original paint, and it has worn away naturally in places due to the oxidation of the iron underneath. The previous owner had this rooster mounted onto a modern heavy iron display stand, which I think suits him well. On his stand he measures 25 1/2" tall and 24" wide, and without the stand, he measures 24" by 17. The stand itself is 24" long by 6" ... morewide, not counting the rod. This folksy fellow is in excellent antique condition, with no repaints, repairs, splits, holes, or dents. Please refer to the photos, feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for looking!

You are bidding on one Antique Copper Lightning Rod Tip Topper with Aluminum Arrow. And Copper Roof Mount Bracket in Good condition. The lightning rod tip is attached to a roof mount bracket which was used to attache the lightning rod to the roof of a barn or house.and then attache cable to the bracket to ground lightning strikes. There is a small section of the woven copper cable attached to the bracket.see photo. The lightning rod tip measures 19 inches tall with the bracket. The bracket is marked on the foot.West Dodd Corp.Goshen, Ind. Poor condition with what is probably smoke damage or asphalt spray on ball(we don't know how to remove this) and both stems chipped up. Please realize that these have been on a barn roof for approx. 100 years or more, may have tiny stem chips and light dirt film on inside. You are viewing an interesting cast or wrought iron silhouette of a child. I bought it at a local outdoor flea market this morning here in Paris. I was told by the vendor that it was used as a scarecrow in the corn fields and that the silhouette of a person would be enough to scare away the birds. I am not so sure of the story. But I like it! It could be part of a weather vane or an old advertising sign(or even indeed a scarecrow! I really don't know. I would guess from the style of the face that it was made some time in the late 19th Century or early 20th Century. It is approximately 14 1/2 inches tall by 12 inches wide at the widest point. It is in"as is" condition i.e. imperfections. Corrosion, etc. What you see is what you get. WEATHER VANE: Antique Whale. Gilded Copper, 19" x 30" Beautiful Form& Patina This is a very handsome Weather Vane featuring a serious Sperm whale. The kind of Whale which was the monomaniacal obsession of Captain Ahab in Moby Dick. I acquired him about 20 years ago from a gentleman in New Hampshire who had a large collection of gilded weather vanes. He was over 90 years old and well past the time when he could answer any questions about his collection. The sale was actually run by his daughter. Who told me that she herself was over 70, and all she knew was that he had been collecting the weather vanes his whole life. So I don't have an exact idea about the date of this weather vane. However. The seams are all tight and finished completely flat, unlike later Vanes which have small standing seams. The Whale is beautifully ... moreformed with special attention to the distinguishing characteristics of a Sperm whale: the square head. The knuckling from the hump to the fluke, or tail and the beautifully bifurcated tail itself. These observations make me think that the Whale most likely dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's. The Whale is full bodied gilded copper. The supporting rod is also copper. Much of the gilding has worn away and a good deal of verdigris has developed over the surface. Creating a complex and beautiful patina. This Whale stands 19 inches tall and 30 inches long on the wooden base. There is no damage whatsoever. This Whale is so beautifully made that. In addition to being fine piece of Americana, it is, in itself, a wonderful piece of sculpture. The photos give an excellent idea of the great form and patina of this fine old Whale. This is a stunning vintage ornate horse and carriage weathervane with roof mounting bracket. it has a thick black layer of paint and a nice matte finish. it is made from a light weight white metal so it can easily turn with the wind. the top arrow piece is which turns and has a nice detailed figural design depicting a horse pulling a carriage filled with figures. the bottom part has 4 arms holding the letters N S E W on each arm. It comes with a mounting bracket that adjusts to be able to mount to any pitched roof or any other surface, it is in nice shape measuring 27 inches tall by 21 1/4 inches wide. This is a vintage Copper Eagle Weathervane in excellent shape. It is all copper except possibly for the directional spears and arrow tip which maybe brass. The main post is iron. It all has a beautiful patina that can only be developed naturally. It is about 60" tall and the eagle has a wing span of about 21" No roof mount is included. Antique Lightning Rod Cast Iron Roof Cresting Finial Gothic Victorian 1880's
Fantastic piece of circa 1880's roof cresting/ lightning arrester. Beautiful Gothic stylized botanicals in heavy cast iron. Old black paint with light surface rust. The iron is in great condition with no eroded/ rusted-through parts. The last 8" on the right in the first photo is the start of another section and is held together by screws/nuts through the original mounting plates. Mounted on an old. Weathered board for display. Cresting is tough to come by, as most was taken off the roofs many years ago do to mechanical and roof issues. The finial at the end is superb. This is a dog vane that is from the 1950's This was on the shed of my Uncle's cottage here on Cape Cod. He was a pheasant hunter and he had Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels. This looks like an English or Gordon Setter. MAde out of metal aluminum with old mustard duck boat brown paint. Measures 15 1/2 from end of tail to snout and 9 1/2 inches from top of head to bottom of foot. This does NOT include another 4 1/2 inches on pole base. SO adding to such it is a bit taller. WOOFS! I sold this once but the person got it and said it did not look like their dog so up it goes one more time. So please if you are buying this because it looks like your dog supposedly make sure it does as it is a hassle and costly to get things back.

This directional is roughly 26 1/2" long and 8" high and weighs 1lb 6 oz. the arrow part is iron and I believe the horse to be zinc. I LOOKED FOR PICTURES OF THE PARK AND I COULD NOT FIND ONE WITH A PICTURE OF A WEATHERVANE. SO THIS MAY BE JUST A STORY SO DON'T BID BY STORY BUT WANTED TO TELL YOU WHAT I WAS TOLD. THANK YOU This is a wonderful antique copper weathervane Sulky. Driver, and Horse Like from Courier and Ives as far back as c.1870. The weathervane is mounted on a 31" long copper tube under the horse(as pictured) With an opening underneath with which to mount directionals, etc. The height of the vane is about 17.5 inches at it's highest point and approx. 10 inches at its widest point. Vintage Copper Nautical Sailboat Weathervane, Directionals, Lightning Ball
This is a fantastic vintage copper sailboat weathervane with N. S, E, and W directional and copper lightning ball. It is made of three pieces that can be disassembled; the sailboat, directional piece with lightening ball, and long copper pipe. It measures about 92" tall fully assembled. It seems to work well and turns easily in the wind. I don't believe it is incredibly old but does have some age to it. There is a bullet hole in one of the sails, some rust on the non-copper pieces, and there is a cracked spot on the long pipe(shown in the photos) but there are no bends in the pipe or any sign of weakening from the crack. It will be disassembled, shipped in two separate boxes, and insured.

There is no reserve on this great old weathervane. Up for bid is this aluminum or zinc advertising weathervane with“Robbins Maryville. Mo. inscribed on both sides of one end of the arrow. It is in good working order, but there is a slider on top to attach another piece which we don’t have. The insulator has a crack from top to bottom on both sides. This vane appears to be smaller than some on the pictures that we have seen of other Robbins weathervanes. All in all this is a great old advertising piece.
