Vintage/ Antique Copper& Gold Ceiling Chandelier. Moe Bridges Art Deco Ceiling Light Moe Bridges company was started in 1923 and didn't make it through the great depression of 1929. However 74 years later here is a piece of history. The bare light is cast iron, it has been completly stripped(we wanted to make sure that no lead based paint was left on) and rewired, repainted with a labor of love. This light was completly refinished and rewired and ready to go. It has beautiful rich coloring, copper with gold highlights, and the most beautiful matallic gold. It seems to change it looks from day to night and gives off just the right light for any room. This would be a great addition to any home that wishes to bring back a little of the past. This listing is for the a vintage. Mid 1950's Moe Light ceiling fixture. This is for the body of the fixture with original glass shade included. This measures overall approximately 6" from the very top that fits against the ceiling to the bottom of the globe. The main body of the fixture measures The canopy that fits at the ceiling measures 4 3/4" across. This is in good condition: The fixture works and is completely original. The metal cover of the canopy is very thin and has several longitudinal cracks in it. The cracks do not affect the function of the canopy. The wiring and porcelain sockets are original. The fixtures are amazingly, stunningly expressive. Wow! You just gasp when looking at them. The polychrome finish is an unusual color. A kinda subdued coppery tone. The effect is quite lovely. There are also artfully blended accents of jade and red, and this is really beautiful. The wiring is new. And cloth covered like the original. It weaves in and out through the arms of the chandelier and so becomes part of the aesthetic composition. Alas. The chandelier finial was long gone. I had the set in storage for ages while endlessly searching for the errant finial but it seemed cruel to keep such beauty hidden any longer. I did make a subtle change though. I took the flourish the chain hangs from and moved it to the bottom as a surrogate finial. It’s a change easily undone should the finial ever show up. INCREDIBLE UPDATE: I have found the original finial! At long last! So. The chandelier will be shipped exactly as it was originally completed! This is a 5 slip shade fixture measures approximately 15" wide and 40" long from the ceiling.It has been in storage since 1987 at which time it was in working order. All original parts nothing has been replaced. I would re-wire it and replace some socket covers if I were going to use it today. On one of the shades there is a slight rough spot. It is hidden when the shade slides into the fixture. Also on the inside of the fixture there is a dark spot but cannot be seen from the bottom of the light. From a very cool mid-century estate. This is made by Moe Light of Fort Atkinson. Wisconsin. It features both a semi-textured spaghetti fiberglass-like top and bottom with metal mesh design on top and bottom. Four light bulb fixture holds it all together. This is really cool looking. It measures about 22" in diameter and 11" from the ceiling plate to the bottom of the fixture. It's from the late fifties I'm guessing. And shows signs of use and age as you can see in the pictures. It has normal discoloration that comes with something this old. Has aged fairly evenly. There are no cracks or breaks in the fiberglass. Electrical may need some updating ... morebut it looks pretty good to me just from looking at it. Ceiling plate does have a little paint around the edge as you can see in the picture. VINTAGE THOMAS MOE FRENCH EMPIRE TOLE CHANDELIER BRASS MOUNTS SATIN GLASS SHADES
We are pleased to offer this lovely. Mid Century(1950s) vintage chandelier by Thomas Lighting/Moe Light. This is a very elegant, Tole chandelier with a French Empire design and Parisian character. The Tole is painted white with elaborate, brass mounts adorning each arm as well as the center column. Each arm has a nice finial at the bottom as does the center column. This hardware is in an antiqued brass with a dark patina. The chandelier has 6 arms. The original glass shades are present. The beautiful shades are white satin glass with a very distinct look and feel. They resemble both Vianne glass as well as Tiffin in that the satin finish is almost textural(sateen) in appearance. The shades have a delicate, scrolled pattern which is accomplished in white beaded paint. They have gilded rims just below their ruffled tops. They are a"slip" ... morestyle shade as they do not require screws to hold them in place and each fits perfectly into the pierced brass housing. This is a classic fixture and it is quite striking. It is in good condition with some evidence of age. There are some aged areas of the white tole which could be resolved with white paint. One of the brass mounts on the center column(there are two mounts on the column) has a tiny tip that is missing(photo 7) It is very hard to notice and it is not distracting. The glass shades are good with some expected wear to the fitter areas. There are a couple of minor flea bites on the tops. But these are also minor. One of the shades has an interior crack(photo 10) on one side. It cannot be felt and has not come through the body of the glass, but it there. The shade can be turned inward and this will not be visible. The original brass canopy houses the manufacturer's sticker. The chandelier is not heavy without the shades. The wiring is vintage and in good condition. The chandelier measures 19" tall(excluding chain) and it is 21" in diameter WITHOUT the shades attached. With the shades present. VINTAGE ART DECO.MOE BRIDGES SKYSRAPER CEILING FIXTURE! FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, a sleek Moe Bridges Art Deco Skyscraper CEILING FIXTUE WITH A gorgeous crown top 6" fitter. The shade is moderately large at 13 inches long and 8 inches wide at its widest point and throws a muted custard/pinkish glow and is perfect. Beside the Chrysler Tower straight line look there are accents of stylized flowers cast in the glass to complete the Art Deco appearance. It is one of the latter. Quality projects that Moe Bridges designed for use in theaters, churches and other major architectural edifices during the 1920s and 1930s. At least 4 different sizes of this shade were made in this style of varying colors and trims. The shade is absolutely guaranteed to be vintage old and in excellent condition. It has the normal flea bites around the fitter opening. ... moreThe Crown top is of an absolutely flagrant"High" Art Deco ceiling fitter that was designed for the custard shade. The fitter is overall about 10 inches tall with a diameter at the crown top of about 9 1/2 inches. The ornamental trim that is immediately above the shade is 3 inches tall and the pierced. Ornamental finial extends it another 6 inches. The original heavy ceramic socket is rewired and has all the original retaining flanges and screws needed to light and hold the shade. It is rewired with new cloth covered wire that would have been used in that day. Long ago the ornamental iron was finished in antique gold. The fixture is sound and solid. There are no breaks. Cracks or repairs. There is no rust evident and this should last another 90 years with no modification or refurbishing. The total hang is 42 inches from the ceiling including 12 inches of chain. It can be shortened to 32 inches by removing chain links. The ceiling canopy is 5 inches wide and not original to the piece. It has a repair on the bottom band where the screw holds the rod.
