Tin Chamberstick Fat Lamp / Early Lighting / Tallow / Oil / AAFA / NR
I've always loved early lighting but I am not an expert(on my bucket list) This piece was purchased here in Michigan but from a New England dealer. It is made of rolled tin and dates to the early to mid 1800's. I think it was originally for whale oil although it now has a"clump" of early fat or tallow smeared on the top. I don't see where it opens to put the oil so I assume it would just be poured into the top. The original wick sticks out from under the tallow. The condition is great with no splits or loose pieces. There is some surface rust on the underside and one side(see photo#7) Mentioned for accuracy. There are three numbers handwritten on the bottom; for what reason, I do not know. SCARCE 19TH CENTURY 24-HOLE CANDLE MOLD, TIN, EARLY LIGHTING DEVICE
24-hole candle molds are rather difficult to find. This one measures approx. 11 1/2" W across the handles) x 5 1/2" D) x 11" H) Made of tin with handles to either side. Condition is generally good. However. The piece appears to have been painted silver a long time ago(much of it has worn off) The tilt that is visible in the side views is due to the bottom plate being a little wobbly but the tubes section can easily be straightened manually, so I think that the mold could be straightened permanently without too much effort. Finally, I should add that, at some point, the cone tips of the tubes were soldered shut(please see photos) I have no idea why unless the owner wanted to use the piece to display flowers or something like that. In any event, again I would think that a welder could easily reopen the holes by re-heating the ... moresolder. ANTIQUE TIN AND GLASS SHADES; EARLY LIGHTING DEVICE
I'm not sure whether these shades were used like hurricane lamps for candle or oil lighting. Or whether a lamp was attached to the underside. In any event they are old and certainly interesting. Each item has seven glass panes. I did not list them as a pair(even though I obtained them together) as the one on the right is slightly shorter and the vertical dividers are a little narrower than the ones on the other device. Both have a slightly convex top and identical construction. Approx. 12" and 11 3/4" tall respectively. Diameter is about 5 1/4" One glass panel cracked near bottom; also surface rust(please see photos) As found. An authentic early lighting device, NOT a reproduction.

Unusual, Antique or Beautiful Selections of Luggage, Purses and Leathergoods items to add to my eBay Shop, I come across some really special pieces and Nearly Lost Treasures. Many of the Estate Sales I attend are in the most Magnificent Homes which belonged to extremely wealthy. Successful people. It is absolutely amazing to me how many beautiful things they had that were never used. Possibly they were impulse purchases ... moreor more likely, gifts that were never or rarely used. This Lovely Vintage Black Tole Lamp- punctuated with Golden feature accents- is another beautiful Estate find in great condition. It stands about 20” Tall– measured to the top of its Tole shade as pictured. The Black/Gold Shade has a Bottom Surface Diameter of about 10 ½” and it is about 6” High. The Base Diameter of the Lamp is about 5” As you can see from the pictures. It is in fine working condition. The wiring seems to be good. The Tole Shade sits upon a White Milk Glass Globe. There are two little“screws” that you can loosen to remove it for cleaning or shipping. The White Milk Glass Globe is also in fine condition as is the cream colored interior of the tole shade. I think it is probably a 3-Way Lamp although I only have a regular bulb in it so I cannot say for sure since I don’t have a 3-Way Bulb to try it with. However, when I turn it on, nothing happens on the first turn– the light goes on with the 2 nd turn– there is also a 3 rd turn but nothing happens with the regular bulb that is currently in it. It will NOT be shipped with the bulb. The bulb pictured is only for an example to show that it works

The 112° dioptric green lens has turned to a bluish green because of the manganese used as the glass clearing agent between 1860 and 1915. Based on the quality. Design, and materials used, it was most likely built in the early 1900s and still has original Wilcox Crittenden manufacturer’s tag attached to the back. Vintage Cow Arrow Weathervane I have a vintage cow on an arrow. Part of a weathervane or lightening rod. The cow I believe is tin, it is not thick& is hollow. The arrow is cast iron. The only maker mark I could find was a P pressed into the metal arrow stem. Approx. Measurement- Arrow is 20 1/2" long x 1 1/2" tall Cow is close to 9 1/2" long x 6 1/4" tall Weighs a little over a pound Condition- The cow is splitting apart in areas along the seam. Early Lighting 19th C Tin & Glass Lantern Punched Stars Primitive Candle Holder
Up for your consideration is an early 19th C cleated tin and 3 sided glass with pierced stars on both bottom and top of candle lantern. It measures 10" tall 12" top top of hanging loop. 4" by 4" with counting the cage grill. The lantern is complete with all parts present hanging loop and original candle holder. There are no broken welds and all cleats or metal grill strips are present, minimum of surface rust this peice is just amazing condition, it not all beat or dented up. Only flaw is the top loop holder needs to be tighten(they all do) all three glass panels are present without any split chips or cracks, but they are replacements(easy to fix if you have wavy glass) A very rare amazing tin candle lantern in cage or cleated form, it would be a welcomed gem to anyone's collection. Antique Tin Lighting Candle Lantern As Is Parts Frosted Glass No Base
Up for auction is an antique primitive cast iron candle lantern recently found at auction in the Lancaster County PA area. It is offered in as found condition; original glass was replaced with 1920's 1930's frosted geometric pattern glass. One of these panels is broken. This originally would have had a tray with a candle holder, this is missing. All metal has been painted gold. The handle does not appear original to the piece. There are of course plenty of dents, dings, bullet holes, a couple of tears, and lots of surface rust, all of which can be seen in the p hotos below. There has been only a slight amount of repair and replacement work done to it such as the cone is relatively new and the 6" tear has a patch riveted in place on the inside. Also there are a few rivets in two of the ornate gussets. A few more in one of the seams and it looks like a bit of touch up paint here and there. With all that said it is still very solid with a lot of life and character, it could be put back into service, or would make an ideal display for your yard or favorite weather vane. They told me they used this in the chicken house to keep the chill off. I don't know about you. But having raised hundreds of chickens, I would fear their safety with an open flame such as this. Besides. I don't see how it could throw off enough heat for that purpose, but that is what I was told. No idea if that was the original purpose of this lamp, or not. Anyway, it is in great shape. Yes, there are some spots of surface rust, but the galvanized tin is strong with no holes anywhere. It still sports the original cork. And there is wick left in the font. It is a very unusual primitive lighting/ heating piece. I only used it for display, and it was a great conversation piece. Nice item to add to ... moreyour primitive collections.
