Rare to find this glass still and especially in this condition. The frame is of a cast metal and heavier metal at that. It has been cleaned and r estored to a medium gold. And oil rubbed to enhance the details of the frame. The brass turn switch has been replaced with a new one and the socket and wiring also. The bulb it would take is a standard size bulb that w ith a regular base. The wattage of 60 or less is recomm ended. Especially for the presentation of the color of the shade. The stronger wattage the less color of the glass. The measurem ent is 11 inches tall and with this 5 1/2 a nd the depth from the wall is 4 1/2. hanging hardware is included for immedia te use and enjoy ment. It dates from the early 1900's around 1920. It is a signed Electrolier fixture. This company made high end lighting in the 1920's and 1930's. This fixture comes with the slip shade. The glass shade is free from any chips or cracks. This lamp looks quite nice hen it is lit. The sconce has the original gold paint and it is free from any signs of rust which is nice. This slip shade sconce has the original switch on it and it is still active and working. This lamp has been tested working however it still has the old cloth wires so you may want to have them replaced. The sconce measures 6 1/2" x 10 1/2" and projects 5 1/4" from the wall( with the shade on) The slip for the shade is 4 5/8" at the top and curves in over 3 1/4" As you can see there is some white wall paint on the one corner. This could easily be cleaned off but we did not want to ruin any of the original gold paint so we will leave it up to you. Never Any Reserve! All questions will be answered promptly! The Glass slip shades are in great condition, with only a few flea nicks along the edge which is normal, where they were taken off and on to change the light bulb. The pattern is Flue Delis and they are a light peach color. The glass shade is 6 1/4" tall. Nice to have a pair of matching ones. Historic Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces made by the John C Virden Company. Cleveland Ohio. This was one of the largest and most successful lighting companies in the U.S. One of these sconces has the original sticker; the sconces are in excellent all-original condition including the bronze gold color finish. These are historic fixtures because the Virden Company re-tooled its manufacturing during WWII for war production; the sconces represent a link to an important era in U.S. history, particularly with regard to womens history. This was the era when women entered the workforce in record numbers to help with the war effort ie the iconic"Rosie the Riveter" image and"We Can Do It" message(I have included a pic of the famous poster for reference) It is estimated that 100,000 women worked in Cleveland's wartime effort. ... morePat Boyd Stanzel was one such real-life"Rosie the Riveter" working at the John C Virden Co. 1920's- 30's Slip Shade Wall Sconces. New Sockets and Switches, no shades This pair of wall sconce wall plates have new sockets. New rotary switches, and include new mounting hardware(crossbars, brass nuts, steel nipples) They use a standard base bulb and they have been tested and work correctly. They are cast iron with a plated finish in bronze color. They are not signed and we don't know who made them. We believe that they take a Markel scoop type shade. But we are not certain. They are 7-1/2" high x 5-1/2" wide. They are guaranteed to be as described and we will accept their return if the buyer is dissatisfied. Just notify us within 14 days of receiving them. Vintage Bronze Slip Shade Wall Sconces No shades fine Quality French American
Up for consideration is a fine large pair of well cast Bronze slip shade wall sconces. The Sconces measure 14.75 inches tall by 8.75 inches wide by 2.75 inches deep. They have a screw in mechanism on the back side to hold a glass shade in place. There is also a screw hole probably where the sconces were mounted to the junction box and there are 2 small holes where the appendages flow upwards probably where the sconce was mounted to the wall not sure.maybe they are just design elements. They are of great quality with nice curving casted flowing lines. They look like they are fairly early probably from the early 1920's prior to the onslaught of Art Deco.
