They hold four shades by Muller freres. This model is refered to as tulipe aux rideaux in the old catalogues. The sconces are 39 cm high(15-3/8" and 24 cm wide. Depth of about 12 cm. This model Muller shade is always signed but it's a tiny signature very close to the hole on top of the shades and so almost always large parts of the Muller freres Luneville signature was grinded away by the factory when flattening the top after the shade came out of the mold. Up for auction is this fabulous pair of Art Deco/Gothic wall sconce lights. Both are marked on the inside HALCOLITE CO. INC. PAT. PEND. This pair is being sold as found. They will need to be rewired, the sconces themselves are wonderful- no cracks or breaks to the metal. They exhibit great gothic lines with a crown like shape at the very top and a crenelated castle turret surrounding the"candle" They are a golden bronze color and highlighted with red and yellow, display a superb age-acquired patina. We are not sure of the metal, a magnet will not stick. The candle sleeves will also need to be replaced- these are original and one is ripped, the other has chips at the top edge. The back of each piece is signed by that craftsman/ artist that made these– Volk(I think) The photographs do not do them justice– and you will be delighted when you see them for yourself. The hammered backs on the sconces or candlestick holders measure 11” from top to bottom. Are 7 1/4” wide, and stand out 3 1/4” from the wall. The edge around each sconce is hammered into a graceful curve and then curls into the finger hold that the Petal shaped candle holder cups are ... moreattached to. The Petal cups measure 3” across. Each candle holder will accommodate a 3/4” taper candle– there is a very small amount of candle wax in each candle holder. The top of each sconce has a hole for hanging. I have not cleaned these sconces or even wiped them down with a dry cloth. The natural patina around the edges is beautiful. These candle holders are in eggsellent condition with no breaks. Bends, or repairs. There is a very small amount of that bright blue tarnish on the back of one of the sconces where the Petal cup is attached.
