GORGEOUS PAIR OF BRASS? SCONCES I think these are made of brass. They have a nice weight to them. They have gorgeous putti angels inside with a dog, and barbola roses and the tops have bows and tassels at the bottom. They are in good vintage condition, one arm has a tiny bent mark in it, I show in photo number 10, its minor but there. Very pretty, not sure if they work but wiring is there and it doesnt look that old. Not sure on age or origin but I dont think these are new. Measure: about 16" long x about 8.5" wide at arms and stand a little under 5" from wall. INCREDIBLE SCONCES. These sconces are lovely and are extremely heavy. Made really well. They have ladies in the center and a rounded top with roses and leaves coming out of them. They look French to me but I am not certain on origin, but they definitely have some age to them. 1) There are a few issues with them. First off they need to be checked to see if they work I cant not be sure, so they might need rewiring. 2) They need shades. A few screws are missing, each one only has 2 instead of 3 screws. 3) One leaf is broken on one which I try to show in photo. 4) One sconce is solid the other one the arms are wobbly and need to be tightened like the other one. If you look closely at the back of one they put black stuff there that holds it tight in place, the same needs to be done to the other. When hung its not that noticeable but when you are ... moreholding them the arms move about, I am sure if you are handy you can fix this no problem. I tried to screw it tighter but it wasn't helping it so you will need to add paste/glue like the other one to make it right or just leave as is because they do sit ok when hung. Hope this all makes sense, if it doesn't just ask me questions so its clear. Either way they are lovely and when I tell you they are heavy they are heavy. They each weigh 8.4 lbs. Not sure what they are made of but they are solid. Measures: backplate is about 15" but they go a bit higher due to the arms. And they extend 10" from wall without any shades. Antique Cast Iron Lot/2 Ceiling Wall Porch Light Fixture Globe Holder Vtg Pair
From a local estate. Here is a matching pair of antique ceiling or wall-mount light fixtures. Heavy cast iron, these measure about 5.75" across at the base, they extend 2 1/8" out from the wall not including the socket. Top opening inner diameter is about 3 3/8" so they will take a globe with a 3-3.25" opening. Decoration around the edges is geometric, more deco than nouveau. Condition is as found, to restore. Paint is probably original but there is significant paint loss and rust. Original sockets are included, they are free but the globe screws are stuck, I didn't try to remove them. The metal parts are solid, no weakness at all. A classic set and a solid start to a restoration project, hope you can use them. Please take a look at all of the photos above. Thanks for looking!
