The milk glass cylinder shades slip on and cover the sockets. There are two light bulbs included. I tested them and they are both currently working. The metal brackets used for securing the fixtures are also included. These are in nice condition overall. There is some age wear. The chrome may shine up more with a polishing. There are some minor paint drippings that are around the perimeter. I have only lightly dusted these. The finish is a little dull. But there is no pitting, rust or damage. These do have different switches on them. I haven't tested these, I am really not handy with electrical wiring. The sockets are ceramic, so they are likely original. The milk glass looks good. There are no cracks in the shades. The bottom rim has the typical roughness of a glass shade. The bulb sockets on these take a standard size. These measure 17" long and 2.5" wide. This is an old ball that was never used so it looks like new New Old Stock(NOS) These lighting rod balls have become so popular again as decorator items in the home and in the garden. This one has the end caps fastened to it. Weathervane Lighting Rod Ball Glass Moon and Star Ball Milk Glass White
Greetings! Hello and thanks for stopping by! Today We Have a Antique/Vintage Milk Glass Weathervane or Lighting Rod Ball. Sun and Moon Motif makes a lovely design. There is one cap for the collar and another metal piece that I think goes on the lighting rod to stabilize or hold the glass ball. That metal piece has a chip on it. No cracks or breaks to the ball but there is expected rough tiny chips to the collars. I am listing a lighting rod too. But I didn't know if someone would want both or if most just collect the balls and the rod will have to ship irregular package. The Ball will ship 1-2 pounds for proper packing and sturdy box. Here's a bit more about the History of where these came from: History The YMCA of the Rockies has a rich and colorful history spanning more than a century. The Rocky Mountain Region had been the site of YMCA summer encampments since the 1890s. But the resort locations were deemed unsuitable ... moreby many participants. At the 20 th State Convention held at Canon City in 1906. It was decided to establish a permanent summer training center for YMCA professionals somewhere in the Rockies. In July of 1907. 23 YMCA men met in Grand Lake, Colorado to discuss incorporations of the Western Conference of the YMCA. While there, they scouted for possible sites for a summer school to be held the next year, 1908. Finding nothing appropriate. They decide to travel over the continental divide to Estes Park. This is a vintage kerosene lamp with a metal base with brass. Milk glass and frosted glass. Has a heron or egret painted on milk glass base. The brass part where which goes in is marked EAGLE.
