Antique Vintage Lighting Shades Pair of Frosted Painted Shades 2 1/4" Fitter
Here is a pair of frosted shades that were removed from a home that dated from the 1920's. I'm not sure if they are original. But they appear to be from that era. The exterior is frosted and the interior is painted. There are a good amount of'flea bites' on the exposed edges. Check photos for condition. The flea bites along the lower lip of both shades are numerous but there are no chips from damage. These will be shipped in an over-sized box for protection. The sockets are marked PAISTE on the knobs/switches. This could be painted or left as it is. Total weight is a little over 6 lbs. Fixture width about 16" and lenght the same. Each socket has all the screws to hold the glass shade on. Shades are in pretty god condition for their age. The rims aren't perfect. But that should be expected. C.1935 They had a contract with Sears for a few years and this is from the Sears Hi-Glo Lighting Catalog in the Glen Falls Series. This fixture is for a Flush Ceiling Mount or a Horizontal Wall Mount. You cannot hang this vertically or the slip shade will fall out. I have seen reproductions of this piece online and stated as reproductions. Based on the wiring of this piece I believe it's original. I would suggest due to the age of the wiring that you have it re-wired for your safety. Also the reproductions of this piece have not captured the color or patina that this lovely piece has. Truly a conversation piece. The original catalog listing lists it as"cast metal" gold colored finish. The normal flea bites on the edges from being slid in and out when changing bulbs but nothing that can be seen from the outside when slid in mount. Historic Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces made by the John C Virden Company. Cleveland Ohio. This was one of the largest and most successful lighting companies in the U.S. One of these sconces has the original sticker; the sconces are in excellent all-original condition including the bronze gold color finish. These are historic fixtures because the Virden Company re-tooled its manufacturing during WWII for war production; the sconces represent a link to an important era in U.S. history, particularly with regard to womens history. VINTAGE ANTIQUE PEWTER LIGHTING SCONCE WITH FROSTED GLASS SHADES BY GERINGER
I was told this lighting sconce is an antique pewter but not 100% sure. Made by Geringer. GIM 616 imprinted in back. It is absolutely beautiful! It's weight is 4lbs. The base is 6" high. With shades it measures 9" high. The width is 13"with the shades on) It was owned by my grandmother for over 40 years so I'm not certain of it's age. It could use a cleaning and rewiring. And with a lovely patina. The chandelier retains all its original components. Including the chain and ceiling canopy. The vertical wire is new. And cloth-covered like the original. As well. The shades are a very pale beige, with amber-tinted upper edges. SIZE: The fixture hangs down 19-1/2-inches and is 19-inches wide. I can remove up to 31/2-inches of chain; I can add chain. CONDITION: One shade has a small chip to its upper edge. If you turn this toward the center it is not obvious. The Bakelite sockets are original(and in fine shape) with new wiring.
