Which are both in working condition. The shade is frosted and has some blemishes(scrapes, discoloration etc. due to age. The chrome has some pitting and discoloration spots. It shows it's age, as this is a vintage fixture. In order to change the bulb. You have to pull on both of the side arms to release the shade(similar to the function of a toilet paper holder) I don't think the switch is original to the fixture. But I think the original looked similar to this, although it may have been a push button. This is a toggle switch. Perfect light to go over a bathroom vanity or it could be hung directly on the ceiling. Try it sideways as a sconce! Many wonderful purposes for this cool retro lights. I deal a lot in light fixtures and this one is fairly unique and uncommon. It came out of an old craftsman style house in Carytown in Richmond. VA. Please ask any and all questions! The company. Known for the quality of its work, is, remarkably, still in business. This beauty is one of the most dazzling. Impressive chandeliers I’ve ever offered, and abounds with amazing details: 1) The finial! Wow! Instead of the standard glass sphere. This chandelier has an intricate glass spear! Wow! 2) The five glass S-shaped arms have notches cut into the glass. 3) There are five additional arms which leap into the air. These hold a glass(not plastic! ring. The ring in turn holds double strands which swag out to the other arms. Elegant. Stunning! 4) The candle covers are not plastic. Nor cardboard. They are glass! Yes. Glass! I’ve never seen this before! 5) The glass bobeches(the disks under the candle covers) are unique. These are normally bowl-shaped but the bobeches here are more plate-like. And each has lovely details cut into the glass. 6) The candles sit in glass cups. And these, too, have lovely details cut into the glass. 7) Above the intricate glass stem is a large bobeche. And from this hangs alternating strands of short/long glass drops. The chandelier is impressive. Too, in its scale: it is 22-inches wide. The vertical wire is new. Later friction among various shareholders resulted in the brothers leaving the company in the late 1920s, ... moreand founding Moe Brothers Manufacturing. In 1938. The company relocated to Fort Atkinson. Wisconsin. After the city agreed to sell land– adjacent to an all-important railroad line– to the company for one dollar. Moreover, the city built a modern plant(at 700 Oak Street) With the understanding that the company would pay rent of $1,800 for twenty years. The company was able to hire one hundred employees(no small figure in the Depression) and this increased to one hundred fifty two years later. In 1946, the company was able to pay off the bonds used to finance the Moe plant. However. As was common, the company struggled to survive after the war years(where they made grenades, bazooka and bullet shells, anti-tank mines, and other military equipment) In 1948, Lee B. Thomas stepped in to save the company. In 1953, the corporation name was changed to Thomas Industries, although the lighting fixtures still carried the Moe Light brand label, and were marketed as such. By 1963. And occupied most of the block between East Tioga and East Venango Streets. The factory backed up against rail ... morelines. As was common, and there would have almost certainly been a rail spur leading directly to Gill loading docks. The Gill buildings are extant, although they look a lot less attractive than they did as pictured, proudly, in Gill catalogs. The immediate area around the factory was all housing(and still is) and it can be assumed that many of these homeowners worked for Gill– an easy commute. All this seems like an ancient time, a lost age far, far away when America actually made stuff. Quality stuff. Too. And when people didn’t have long commutes to work, and when railroads were powerful and important. Sigh. I’ve collected Gill Glass for years now and have long admired the quality of their fixtures and high style. But normally I come across Gill fixtures from the 1930s and 1940s. And have never before offered this fixture. The fixture is also wondrously original and retains its canopy(with a Gill sticker) The six white glass shades look simple enough but when you hold them in your hand they are immediately recognizable as being beautifully crafted. The glass is thick. There is a swivel joint just under the canopy. This helps the fixture from being damaged if struck. And a

Vintage Mid-Century EJS Lighting Brass Ceiling Lamp, Chandelier, Kerosene
Great looking vintage fixture. Brass with brass shade and original globe. Includes ceiling cover. No ball nuts but I may have some to include. Lamp is in great shape with little wear. Couple light scuffs but no dents or dings. There is a little crease around the top rim of the shade but it doesn't show when hung. Everything is solid. Clean and original. About 17" across. I will measure exactly if you want. Chain is about 7 feet long, and has faded and loose finish. Solid but could need replacement if you want a newer looking one. Thanks for Looking!
