I’m very pleased to offer this dazzling circa-1940s crystal chandelier! THE BACK STORY: When I found the chandelier it was a pitiful sight. It was filthy. Missing all its glass drops, and one bobeche was broken(the glass cups under the glass shades) None of this mattered to me for the glory of the chandelier– ... moreand what a glory it is– is the magnificent, over-scaled, cut-glass hurricane shades. Wow. Wow! I had to have the chandelier. I had to resurrect it. And. Unlike the rare-beyond-belief hurricane shades, the missing/broken components were all easily replaced. So, after the fixture was dismantled and immersed in hot, soapy water, fully rewired, reassembled, and then lighted, well, my elation was great indeed. The five hurricane shades have a distinctive shape. And feature lovely designs cut into the glass. Each shade sits in a silver cup with cut-out diamonds. The bottom of the chandelier features a beautifully molded glass bowl. The top has a gorgeous glass sphere. The center glass stem is also wonderful. There are ten vertical glass swags which lend a particular elegance. I think. I’m uncertain as to the age of the chandelier but estimate late 1930s to late 1940s. The chandelier is an impressive 22-inches wide and is scaled for a medium- to large-ish-sized room. All the wiring is new. And the vertical wire is cloth-covered like the original. Pair 2 Brass Torchiere Candle Wall Sconces w Hurricane Glass Shades Antique
Selling a beautiful pair of antique brass candlestick wall sconces. Likely dating to the second half of the 19th century. These are torchiere sconces that fit flush on the wall with the lighting torch part angled away. The lead photo shows the angle, and both sconces are identical. These sconces have their original, hand-blown, acid-etched hurricane shades, each etched with a grapes-and-leaves motif, and both shades have a"cranberry stain" along their top rim. Everything here is in great shape. Complete, and all original. The glass shades alone are 9.5" high by 6" across, and their brass base fittings are 1.5" across. Fully assembled each sconce is 17.5" tall on the wall, so these really make a statement, look at me! I should also mention these are brass, not brass plated, so they could easily be polished up ... moreto a bright brass if so desired. It has five lights- five arms and five finely etched glass hurricane shades. It looks beautiful. But it’s not without imperfections, including dirt, dust, some paint spatter and chips(please read below for details) It has total of 255 crystal prisms hanging from the arms. Bobeches and reverse dish at the bottom: 35 Teardrops 10 Square 1 Large Bottom ball 209 Octagons The original crystal bobeches have been replaced because one was broken. The four remaining original bobeches are included(see pictures) Of the five finely etched hurricane shades. Four are in excellent condition, while ... moreone has a small chip on the top. There are no major cracks or chips that I can see. However. There may be some small imperfections that don’t detract from the overall look. It also has frosted glass candle covers that measure 4.75" High and 1.25" OD. 1 out of 5 are in very good condition. While the remaining three have been broken and glued together by the previous owner. There is a large bottom crystal ball that connects to the bottom of the chandelier for added charm. The chandelier hangs approximately 9” from the ceiling. It’s 22” long(without any crystals added) and 22” in diameter. The canopy is 5.25” in diameter. This is truly a beautiful glass vintage chandelier weighing approximately 15 lbs. It has 5 candelabra-base 60-watt bulbs(included) This is from an estate and will be sold as found.
