Who was trying to address a serious shortcoming of the keyed socket. Hubbell’s first version utilized a standard Lange shell with an internal pulley switch operated by a silk“tuna line” pull cord. The tuna line protected the user from shocks, but it was found to wear out and break too easily, so Hubbell went back to the drawing board. In 1900 he patented an improved version(now with the wider Tournier-type shell) that accomplished the insulation internally and allowed him to use a stronger brass ball chain pull. Antique Early Original Leaded Glass Signed Miller Boudoir Lamp Hubbell Sockets
This is a very interesting Original Leaded Glass Signed Miller Boudoir Lamp. This wonderful little lamp has great Hubbell sockets with acorn pulls. The shad is quite unique is is leaded on the outside but not inside how this was done I have no clue!It has great old glass with large factory bubbles and swirl lines and it is very beautiful. The lamps base has a green finish there are areas of finish loss but over all most all of the finish is there. The cord is not original it was changed at some point to a newer wiring but the lamp is an older Miller lamp. The lamp stands about 16" to top finial the shade is 5 1/2" tall it is 12" wide and the lamp weighs about 6.11 pounds. I see no damage on this lamp just small signs of years of normal wear. In as found condition. An older lamp base that may have been for a slag glass shade.with pair of marked Hubbell sockets and pull chains that have acorns. Not sure of the material. But a magnet does stick to the base. Good original condition, however one socket does not function properly. It is marked on the bottom and is possibly made by Empire.

Up for sale is this wonderful antique ceiling lamp fixture. Constructed mostly of brass with a bronze finish. I believe the arms and finials are likely spelter or a similar metal. There are 3 Hubbell paddle sockets. This is antique, so you are going to see some wear, but this is one of the better conditioned fixtures I have seen. It is about 12 1/2" from arm end to end, tough to get an accurate diameter not including the arms but about 8 1/2-9" This is an estate find and is untested, I would assume you would look to rewire before using. This beautiful. Vintage 1910, fixture hangs about 31" from the ceiling and. That could easily be adjusted with the heavy chain. The fixture is about 15" wide without the shades installed. The brass is fairly heavy gauge. The pair of shades were on the fixture when I acquired it; they're perfect. They have frosted interiors and have a nice ring when plucked. The 2 Hubbell paddle switched sockets are in excellent condition and have a strong click when turned. This good looking fixture is ready to hang with new restoration, as you can see. This week we are offering this matched set of 4 Hubbell turnkey sockets. We believe these sockets were made between about 1914 to 1923. All of the switches turn smoothly and all with a distinct snap. All of the turnkeys are in excellent condition. As you can see in the pictures. These sockets retain almost all of their original copper oxide finish. There is some very slight finish loss on the caps and some slight discoloration underneath the turnkeys. This auction is for an Antique Solid Brass 2 Light Wall Sconce dated 1904. The Sconce has been rewired and works perfectly. It has Bryant Sockets and Hubbell Shade Holders. The Shade Holders are marked: HUBBELL PAT'D JULY 23. 03FEB.23'04 and on the opposite side of the Shade Holder it is marked: PAT'D FEB.23'04. The Screws that hold the Shades are made to look like flowers and are brass. The light turn keys are marked: PERKINS. The Frosted Glass Shades are blown glass and are slightly different in shape and color, typical of hand blown pieces. The Sconce measures 14 1/2" long with the Shades and 6 7/8" without the Shades. ANTIQUE PAIRPOINT LAMP BASE - HUBBELL SOCKETS - 2 LIGHT CLUSTER - POLISHED BRASS
Up for auction is a beautiful antique signed Pairpoint two(2) cluster lamp base. This base has two original Harvey Hubbell sockets with mica and porcelain interiors and the familiar acorn pulls. The base is a polished brass and I believe it may also be lacquered. I cannot find this base in either the Malakoff book or the St. Aubin book. It is guaranteed to be Pairpoint however as it is properly signed with the trademark diamond impressed on the underside of the base. It has a beautiful floral decoration around the base with figural lion heads at the bottom. This base stands about 17.5" tall and is about 7.5" wide at the base. It has been rewired with gold vinyl lamp cord. This is a larger base and most likely was intended for one of the larger"puffy" shades Pairpoint made. I do have a 14" spider up for auction separately. ... moreIt will fit over the top of the base but it does not however fit this lamp properly as the spider will not clear the arms and sockets. It will only fit if upside down. Which is not correct. If you wish to purchase that spider I will combine shipping however. I purchased this piece just as you see it. I believe it's all original. I do not see evidence this particular base was silver plated and it's likely it was always polished brass. I believe that this pattern is a rarer one as it's not found in the main reference books or online auctions. It is in wonderful condition and shows no sign of damage or repair. This base is now likely over 100 years old and displays beautifully! I've tried to describe everything to the best of my ability but p lease look at all the photos as they are the best description.
