It was a thrill to at last purchase them. They are so very beautiful; I love just simply staring at them. Wholly restored and with new wiring. Each arm has distinctive crystals. The hurricane shades are particularly lovely; that they remain in situ is frankly amazing. I also like the expressive glass stem. The chandelier is clearly modeled after an Argand lamp. From Wikipedia: The Argand lamp was new to Thomas Jefferson in Paris in 1784. Which according to him gave off"a light equal to six or eight candles. These new lamps. Vintage Lighting 5 Bulb Hanging Chandelier Aldersyde Series by Virden 1930s-40s
Vintage Antique 5 bulb cast metal hanging chandelier. Manufactured by the John C. Virden company. The fixture is part of the Aldersyde Series. From the 1930's-1940's. See picture from their 1941 catalog. This chandelier is in excellant working condition. It has not had any restoration to the polychrome paint finish& retains the original antique gold patina as well as the green and red floral motifs. The original porcelain sockets are intact, the only known thing done to the wiring is it has been wrapped. There is an on/off switch on the base of the unit but it has been deactivated. Uses standard base bulbs, 60 watt max. Chandelier is ready to hang, no bulbs included. As seen in the pictures the chandelier works. We have been using it in our dining room for 3+ years but our home is more of a farmhouse so we recently(last week) ... moretook it down. Vintage Gothic Style Hanging Lighting
This is a vintage Gothic hanging chandelier. The light/ shade is 23 inches long. If the tassel is included in that measurement. It is 29 inches long. This light has a 13 foot chain and a 15 foot cord. There is a slight stain on one of the shade panels. Please see the close up picture to view this stain. Exceptional design in this Lightolier vintage 1970s import made by the well known German firm Glashutte Limburg. These would look great in many modern interiors. Impressive blown glass modern bell shade measures 12" tall, 11 1/4" diameter. Bold green color case with white, just as Emeralite used to create. Suspended by a heavy cord and three black bolts(one has allen bolts, may or may not be original, but looks very close) White cord has yellowed with smoke, you either clean them or replace with new, in a custom length for your location. I did some touching up to the red. The fixtures look a lot better than when I purchased them but they still look vintage. Ideally. They are suited for a country retreat or rustic cabin rather than a finely finished interior. The vertical wire is new and cloth-covered like the original. Normally such style fixtures were used in kitchens. I can also see the pair. Close together, over a rectangular dining table. Or perhaps hanging low over a pair of nightstands(a great look) This matched pair is ready to hang. And comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: The fixtures accept standard base 60W bulbs(two each fixture) COLOR: Red. White. Brass. SIZE: The fixtures hang down 26-inches. The red shade is 14- x 8-12-inches wide. Antique Brass Hanging Lighting Fixture, Painted Black, For Restoration
This very old hanging porch lantern is brass under the black paint. It was electrified at some point but would need to be rewired. The bulb receptacle contraption looks like a fairly new addition and I'm quite certain that it was originally made to hold a candle or lantern. I have removed the glass panes as they were loose and will ship more safely. They have a slight texture. Are dirty and two of the four have a couple of chips around the edges. The lamp has little notches into which they should fit but it might be necessary to use glue to keep them in place. I'm not sure if the chain which seems to be made of iron is original to the lamp. The fixture is about 12" long and about 6-1/2" wide at the widest point.
