Vintage Wrought Iron Sconce PAIR - Spanish Revival Monterey Arts & Crafts 1920's
This is a PAIR of vintage wrought iron wall sconces- PLUS a third sconce that is a slight variation in the same pattern. But does not have a switch. These sconces measure about 10 1/4" by 5 1/4" They are made of heavy gauge iron and weigh about 2 1/2 lbs. each. I do not know their maker. But from various construction details it is obvious to me that these are factory produced pieces. However, the wrought iron is hand hammered with subtle variations in the details. From the wiring components. I think they likely date from the 1920's or 1930's. The original finish is a single coat of satin black paint which is now obviously aged and worn. Up for sale is a 4 Light Hammered Bronze Chandelier. I am not sure if this is more Gothic Revival or Arts and Crafts in style. It was retailed by John? of Pennsylvania. The label is a gold foil and is 1/2 missing. The piece has cloth wiring and is in working condition. The sockets have a E with an arrow going through it. It is quite a heavy piece at almost 14 pounds. The piece hangs 22" from the ceiling and is 17" wide. The ceiling cap is made of a different material- it feels like a heavy tin. Would look great with some Quezal shades. I have included two etched glass iridescent finish shades. Which came with the piece when purchased. This a fabulous antique Stickley Era hammered brass and wrought iron hanging pendant lamp. It measures 17" tall and the design is that of the Arts& Crafts/ Spanish Revival Era featuring florets. Leaves, and a beautiful large amber glass prism. It is very detailed and has a hammered surface that appears copper in color although I believe the metal is actually brass or wrought iron. The upper part of the lamp is brass as is shown by the interior section. The original cloth wiring is still intact and lamp is in good working condition but the new owner may want to have wiring replaced just to be safe. All are in very good condition but the amber prism does have flea bite nicks around the edges. It is very heavy gage forged wrought iron and weights about 30-40 lbs. Nice antique wrought iron light sconce. Restored and rewired.ready for hard wire installation. 11" tall. 3 1/2" wide, and projects 5 1/2" from the wall. The original finish(black and gold) was flaked off and rusty. So I cleaned it up, painted it flat black, and gilded and distressed the'curlicue' with 23k gold leaf. This rather unusual arts and crafts porch light measures 10 ½” tall x 5” square(add 7 ½” for chain) and comes with 6 ½” long hand wrought hook having a round cast iron 2 ¾” diameter base. The hook can be attached to either wall or ceiling so the fixture can also be a sconce. The shade of multiple small pieces of textured amber and slag glass is in pretty good shape with some bends. Dirt and 2 or 3 cracks in the glass. It is of unusual design with intended spaces between the metal wrapped glass. ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS MISSION 5 LIGHT WROUGHT IRON CHANDELIER
Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Circa 1915-1920 five light Arts& Crafts chandelier. It is a bit of a restoration project but it has good bones and after it is rewired and that hideous white paint is removed. You will have a period fixture to be proud of. Including the ceiling cap and chain there is a total drop of 27" and the bottom of the fixture is about 20" diameter. The arms are wrought iron- I scraped away enough paint to see underneath. The little bell-shaped caps that hold the sockets are white metal- maybe a heavy tin but not iron. The ceiling cap is stamped, embossed brass under that paint. There is a single drilled hole on the end of each of the upper scrolls of the arms- perhaps a later addition for a single prism or a swag chain of prisms- you can ignore these little holes or add some ... moreembellishment. I really like the socket covers with their slightly ruffly edge and the raised rounds that resemble big nail heads.
