Antique primitive brass candle chandelier up for auction. I wish it was marked. I know it is old. But don't know exact age or style. The arrow reminds me of a Colonial style. The crown feathery leafy thing makes me think French. Please e-mail if known, love the history part of this. It is all brass. It would be great for a person to re-do. It needs some arms. It holds five arms but only two are present. The two there are just rotating there, not loose and free but not tight. The arrow shaft is not straight on top or bottom. Maybe someone tried to repair, I see some solder in places. The ball only has one dent and some scratching. Please check pictures good. Colonial Empire - Tavern Baluster & Polished Brass - Early American Chandelier
This is a very nice Colonial Empire style polished 10-arm brass chandelier from the 1950's era and was hanging in the living room of my 1949 Craftsman Cottage style home I purchased over 20 years ago. I believe it was original to the house. But not sure? However, it may have been installed mid 1950 to mid 1960 making it a mid-century reproduction of an original antique style. I found one at a home lighting store about 10 years ago with an eight arm lighting system and it was $795.00 dollars for a brand new current reproduction. This chandelier has a 10-arm lighting system and is in good working order. It is rare to find another one exactly like this. Please Note: The first photo is a stock picture I found of what this lamp looks like since it shows better details. All other pictures are of actual item. Price for this one is a little more ... morereasonable due to that I altered it a bit by drilling holes in the cup plates at the bottom of the light pillars to hang crystal prisms from and later I added some small buffet style lamps shades to change the look around for different occasions. This way you have three style options; one by hanging it as is for a traditional Williamsburg Colonial look. Or with crystal prisms for an elegant and sparkly Beach Cottage theme; and three, with buffet lamp shades for a rich formal dining/living room appearance. These sconces are 16 inches tall. 14 ½ inches wide and once mounted they would stick out 7 inches. These were taken down in good working order. They have Leviton push button switches. They are made of brass and have only been dusted off. The candle tubes are made of plastic and have become brittle and chipped around the tops, a few are cracked. One sconce is missing the mounting hardware. I ran the UL number E-12305 which says that they were made by H. A. Framburg Company. This pair of vintage Virginia Metalcrafters Colonial Williamsburg Warming Room Brass Sconces CW 16-3 are marked by both Virginia Metalcrafters and Colonial Williamsburg(see photos) They are 10 1/2 inches high. The circle is 3 3/4 inches in diameter and they protrude 10 inches from the wall. They are copies of sconces that hung in the Governors Palace in Colonial Williamsburg during the 17th century in the room where food was brought and kept warm until it was served to the guests.
