It dates from the early 1900's around 1920. It is a signed Electrolier fixture. This company made high end lighting in the 1920's and 1930's. This fixture comes with the slip shade. The glass shade is free from any chips or cracks. This lamp looks quite nice hen it is lit. The sconce has the original gold paint and it is free from any signs of rust which is nice. This slip shade sconce has the original switch on it and it is still active and working. This lamp has been tested working however it still has the old cloth wires so you may want to have them replaced. The sconce measures 6 1/2" x 10 1/2" and projects 5 1/4" from the wall( with the shade on) The slip for the shade is 4 5/8" at the top and curves in over 3 1/4" As you can see there is some white wall paint on the one corner. This could easily be cleaned off but we did not want to ruin any of the original gold paint so we will leave it up to you. Never Any Reserve! All questions will be answered promptly! Rare to find this glass still and especially in this condition. The frame is of a cast metal and heavier metal at that. It has been cleaned and r estored to a medium gold. And oil rubbed to enhance the details of the frame. The brass turn switch has been replaced with a new one and the socket and wiring also. The bulb it would take is a standard size bulb that w ith a regular base. The wattage of 60 or less is recomm ended. Especially for the presentation of the color of the shade. These are in great condition. The wall sconces are made of aluminum and are very art deco, they are 13" long and signed Lincoln with the# 10604. They would need to be rewired. The Glass slip shades are in great condition, with only a few flea nicks along the edge which is normal, where they were taken off and on to change the light bulb. The pattern is Flue Delis and they are a light peach color. The glass shade is 6 1/4" tall. Nice to have a pair of matching ones. This was one of the largest and most successful lighting companies in the U.S. One of these sconces has the original sticker; the sconces are in excellent all-original condition including the bronze gold color finish. These are historic fixtures because the Virden Company re-tooled its manufacturing during WWII for war production; the sconces represent a link to an important era in U.S. history, particularly with regard to womens history. 2 Antique White ArT DeCo GLaSs Slip Shades for Chrome Wall Sconce Lamp Fixtures
This auction includes a set of two vintage small white art deco glass shades which have rough cut top and bottom rims. I have seen these type of shades on the old chrome wall sconce fixtures. They measure approximately 4 1/4" tall(one is slightly taller) By approximately 3" across the top openings. The smaller fitter ends measure just over 1 5/8" across to the outer edges. Both are in very good condition. And have no chips or cracks overall. There is minor roughness with some small chiggers to the small fitter rims which is typical on rough cut shades. No big deal in my opinion, but wanted to mention in case it would matter more to someone else. Bright spots are only light reflections. Beautiful set to complete your lighting!
