The covers are“held” in place by aluminum. Um, arms. There are also aluminum flourishes at the top and bottom of the chandeliers. There are six arms. Nice, and each holds six amethyst glass drops. These appear to be original. There is an additional drop in the center(these seem to be replacements) The pipe stems are covered in cloth cord. I also love how the arms sweep down and up. The chandeliers are an impressive 21-inches wide. They are 33-1/2-inches long(to the bottom of the cloth tassel) And 26-3/4-inches minus the tassel. If you need the fixtures shorter, I can reduce the length of the pipe stem a few inches. If you need them longer please contact me. I lusted after this exquisite pair for a long time. It was a thrill to at last purchase them. They are so very beautiful; I love just simply staring at them. Wholly restored and with new wiring. The company. Known for the quality of its work, is, remarkably, still in business. This beauty is one of the most dazzling. Impressive chandeliers I’ve ever offered, and abounds with amazing details: 1) The finial! Wow! Instead of the standard glass sphere. This chandelier has an intricate glass spear! Wow! 2) The five glass S-shaped arms have notches cut into the glass. 3) There are five additional arms which leap into the air. These hold a glass(not plastic! ring. The ring in turn holds double strands which swag out to the other arms. Elegant. Stunning! 4) The candle covers are not plastic. Nor cardboard. They are glass! Yes. Glass! I’ve never seen this before! 5) The glass bobeches(the disks under the candle covers) are unique. These are normally bowl-shaped but the bobeches here are more plate-like. And for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company(extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. I’m certain it’s not earlier or later. I’m certain. Too, as to its beauty. And rarity. I’ve never offered a chandelier like it. All the metal components appear to have a pewter finish. Nice. Each arm has distinctive crystals. The hurricane shades are particularly lovely; that they remain in situ is frankly amazing. I also like the expressive glass stem. The chandelier is clearly modeled after an Argand lamp. From Wikipedia: The Argand lamp was new to Thomas Jefferson in Paris in 1784. Which according to him gave off"a light equal to six or eight candles. These new lamps. While more complex and costly than the previous primitive oil lamps, were first adopted by the well-to-do but soon spread to the middle classes and eventually the less well-off as well. Argand lamps were manufactured in a great variety of decorative forms and quickly became popular in America. This fixture is. Obviously, a delightfully faux Argand lamp chandelier. The chain is original. As is the ceiling canopy. The exposed wire is cloth-covered like the original. I would say the the chandelier. At 17-1/2-inches wide. Is medium in scale. To me. The patina has an irregular tone. Which I find attractive. The chandelier looks well with exposed bulbs. And with ... moresilk or paper shades(see last image; shades are not included) If you prefer shades, I would ship with off-white candle covers instead of the antique gold drip-style. The lines of the fixture are very attractive. I love looking at it; at the graceful. Sweeping arms, and candles which leap into the air like ballet dancers on point. Wholly restored and with new sockets and wiring. This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: Sadly. The period-correct, hand-painted bulbs are not included. Happily, I will let you know where to get them. The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs. Sadly. The shades are not included. Vintage Lighting 5 Bulb Hanging Chandelier Aldersyde Series by Virden 1930s-40s
Vintage Antique 5 bulb cast metal hanging chandelier. Manufactured by the John C. Virden company. The fixture is part of the Aldersyde Series. From the 1930's-1940's. See picture from their 1941 catalog. This chandelier is in excellant working condition. It has not had any restoration to the polychrome paint finish& retains the original antique gold patina as well as the green and red floral motifs. The original porcelain sockets are intact, the only known thing done to the wiring is it has been wrapped. There is an on/off switch on the base of the unit but it has been deactivated. Uses standard base bulbs, 60 watt max. Chandelier is ready to hang, no bulbs included. As seen in the pictures the chandelier works. We have been using it in our dining room for 3+ years but our home is more of a farmhouse so we recently(last week) ... moretook it down. Antique chandelier sconces set of 5 mustard glass globes lighting
Antique chandelier light fixture sconces or globes set of 5 matching. They are mustard glass and are a pale antique yellow color. Made of fine thin glass they are all in good condition. One has a hairline crack in it and a pinhole. I took a few pictures of this. I do not think it would be noticeable when installed or if you just needed 4 of them. They are 1 1/2" tall, 2 3/4" across the open end and have a 2" base. Very nice and hard to find set. I have described the items condition to the best of my knowledge. This is for a vintage brass chandelier. I believe it is from the 1930's or 1940's. But I am not sure of it's exact age. Everything seems to be intact and accounted for. Measures about 14 1/4" across. Antique Weber Chandelier 1920-1930 Victorian era 5 light candle lighting
On auction today is. A very modern Victorian style chandelier made by Weber. It has 5 candle lights with painted/enameled? brass sleeves. Some spots of paint missing but in overall nice condition. The 5 brass arms are in nice condition. Need to be tightened and one or two maybe slightly bent but could be reshaped. It is 4 feet tall from the top of the ceiling anchor to the bottom of the arms. This piece has cloth wiring and would need to be rewired in order to work correctly. It looks like there is some sort of skinny brass arms that look like they would hold a glass shade over the top of the 5 lights. There is a missing skinny arm and the glass shade is missing as well.
