The style was very popular in the 1920s and 1930s. PLEASE NOTE: The set is not restored yet. However. It will be shipped fully restored. This will take up to two weeks after payment is received. All the wiring will be new, and the visible wiring will be cloth-covered. Nice. The paper insulators will be new. The original finish on some fixtures looks very good(like the 5-bulb) and will only require minor touching up. Other fixtures will have largely new finishes. Don’t worry, all the finishes will match. I’m very pleased to offer this rare opportunity: A set of five circa-1920 silver-plated fixtures! This listing includes: ONE 4-arm chandelier! FOUR matching 1-arm wall sconces. Pan-style fixtures(so named because the main body is like a large pan) were incredibly popular through the 1910s. 1930s, and early 1930s. Most were modest in terms of design, quality, and pricing. Very occasionally however I come across a set like this. Wow. This set was not modest in design or quality. And in its day would have been at the higher end price-wise. It’s stunning. The fixtures came out of a house in Illinois. And were caked with white paint when I acquired them. Luckily, paint doesn’t stick very well to silver-plating. The 4-arm chandelier is particularly luscious. The arms have gorgeous detailing in high relief. The bottom finial is surrounded by a lovely disk. The chain flourish is also exquisitely detailed. As is the ceiling canopy. You can see how different the fixtures look with shades(not included) or without. The vertical wire on the chandelier is cloth covered like the original. While originally intended for a living-dining room. Today I can envision the set in your newly renovated kitchen, or spa bathroom! The set would be the ideal complement to nickel-plated hardware. I love the sweep of the arms. This chandelier will be shipped wholly restored. With new wiring, ready to hang, and with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs(not included) The ceiling canopy is a replacement. COLOR: See above. SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 33-inches and is 19-inches wide. I can remove up to 6-inches of chain; I can add chain. CONDITION: I love writing this: there’s no damage. The sockets are original(and in fine shape) I will put in new wiring and paper insulators. The exposed wiring will be cloth-covered. The original chain was corroded(this is common) The new chain precisely matches the original in terms of scale and shape. The amber glass drops are new. That the fixture had such drops originally is confirmed by the tell-tale mounting holes. Amber seemed the obvious color choice. The polychrome is in very good vintage condition. The sconces each have subtle variations. And a delightful, well, lack of machine perfection. The back plates are beaten into shape, ... moreand the arm the pierces the back-plate is hammered tight into position. 2) The sconces are large– a whopping 19-1/2-inches high(without bulb) 3) The sconces retain their original mounting buttons and finish. 4) The sconces have new brown cloth-covered wire to match the original. And. Of course, to have a matched set of four is also unusual. The sconces appear to be some kind of white metal. And this has a brown finish. The finish is not polychrome, and nor does it appear to be plated. PLEASE NOTE: I have a remarkable ceiling fixture listed. Also hand-wrought, and which came from the same house. The bottom of the fixture. Including the arms, is accented with gilded brass acanthus leaves. The large bobeches repeat this feature. The chandelier has double, twist down rods which are separated by an open ring accent. The original brass canopy is present and is also decorative with the twist pattern repeated at the top. The chandelier is simply striking. IT IS EXCEPTIONALLY heavy. It is not marked but it is of the finest quality. It is in good antique condition with the expected aging patina and a few"age spots" on the brass. It appears as if someone was in the process of rewiring but did not complete the task. Pair of Real 1920s Hearst Castle Urns Spanish & California Revival
Thank you for looking at these amazing Hearst Castle Urns. These urns were given to Sally Hearst by her husband George Randolph Hearst. They were used at Hearst Castle and then taken to Sally's residence in San Francisco and eventually made there way to her granddaughter in the Central Coast of California. I purchased them from her. They are tremendous and rare. The only known urns like them are at Hearst Castle and are painted green. The urns are heavy 41lbs each and made of cast stone. They are 20 inches tall and about 42 inches around. They are a pair which is great and are unrestored. The urns themselves depict a bird on a crest with flowing banners which is indicative of the Spanish Revival influence and the light blue and yellow colors are a theme of the period.
