The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. Antique cherry slant front desk. I did some research on the web as I have never seen one before found one almost alike on ebay. In nice condition considering I believe it to be from the early 1900's. Brass wheels with ball bearings in them along with a heavy black rubber wheel. On the wheels reads Noelting Faultless Evansville Indiana. No other makers mark. Measures 32-1/4" l x 16" w x 27" tall. For your consideration is a Mission Style mahogany slant front writing desk made by Novelty Wood Works(1897-1912) in Union City. PA. The desk is 30.25" wide, 37" high, and 14.5" deep(from drawer) When opened, the writing surface is 27.5" from the floor. It features original brass hardware, a single pull-out drawer beneath the desk, and six compartments inside to store letter, bills, etc. I estimate the age of this piece to be approximately 110 years. It is in good to very good condition as indicated in the Condition description. There are some light scratches and cup marks as pictured. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

The desk came out of England and dates from the 1930s, in original condition. It has a great look, with a graceful picture frame slant-top lid that has a straight grain walnut border frame. It comes down into pullout supports that hold up the lid, which, when opened, reveals a cubbyhole and drawer interior. There is also a leather insert writing top, with some minor surface scratches here and there that show the age and use. The drawers are beautiful, with heavy cast brass hardware. It all sits upon a large cabriole carved frame base. The desk is even burl on the sides. I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite like it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. Purchased in the 1980's at a nearby Antique and Collectible show. The Larkin Desk has seen only light use as its tall attractive form stood decorating a wall over the past many years. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. Stands just over 60" tall by 30" wide by 11" deep. The Slant-top measures about 15 3/4" when opened. A true heirloom piece with a great history, fine Americana for your home. There are antique brass finish handles and hardware on the drawers- one handle is missing. The traditional drop leaf desk/tray and its mechanisms work without problems. The two front legs are ball and claw style- both have some of the finish chipped off of them. Overall, the desk is heavy duty and in sturdy condition with minor wear and tear. This bureau bookcase was made around the year 1910. The wood used in its creation is mahogany. It features two adjustable bookshelves, a fall down desk section, and drawers for storage. True to the time period. This antique borrows Queen Anne style legs and puts them together with gorgeous Gothic arches on the doors. Inside the glass doors are ... moretwo adjustable wooden shelves that adjust via an alligator bracket system. The glass doors lock with an included key. A dentil moulded cornice finishes the top bookcase section off nicely. The bureau section(also known as a butlers desk) opens up to reveal a felt covered writing area. A small locking door with key, two small drawers, and numerous storage spaces. The felt has a tear in it and is stained in places. The desk section measures 34″ wide x 19.5″ deep x 30″ tall when open. A lock for the desk is present but no key remains. Below the desk is a bank of drawers that work great on their wooden runners. These drawers are made with dovetailed joints and feature brass handles. All four drawers have locks but there is no key for them. The condition of this antique bureau bookcase is fair. Structurally it is a sound piece that will function for many years in a living room or bedroom. This is a RJ Horner slant front desk as shown. Carved shell slant front in the style of Chippendale. Very solid desk and fairly heavy for its size. No chips or cracks. Needs a good cleaning as this is as found at an estate in Greenport Long island. Would be absolutely stunning refinished but I will leave that decision up to you. This is PICKUP only.
