The bulb it would take is a standard size bulb that w ith a regular base. The wattage of 60 or less is recomm ended. Especially for the presentation of the color of the shade. It dates from the early 1900's around 1920. It is a signed Electrolier fixture. This company made high end lighting in the 1920's and 1930's. This fixture comes with the slip shade. The glass shade is free from any chips or cracks. This lamp looks quite nice hen it is lit. The sconce has the original gold paint and it is free from any signs of rust which is nice. This slip shade sconce has the original switch on it and it is still active and working. This lamp has been tested working however it still has the old cloth wires so you may want to have them replaced. The sconce measures 6 1/2" x 10 1/2" and projects 5 1/4" from the wall( with the shade on) The slip for the shade is 4 5/8" at the top and curves in over 3 1/4" As you can see there is some white wall paint on the one corner. These are in great condition. The wall sconces are made of aluminum and are very art deco, they are 13" long and signed Lincoln with the# 10604. They would need to be rewired. The Glass slip shades are in great condition, with only a few flea nicks along the edge which is normal, where they were taken off and on to change the light bulb. The pattern is Flue Delis and they are a light peach color. The glass shade is 6 1/4" tall. Nice to have a pair of matching ones. Beautiful pair of Art Deco sconces made of metal and measuring 10" tall and 10 1/2" wide. There are two light holders on each sconce. They each have the original paper tube covering the light holder. The sconces have been rewired and are ready to hang. Even the original decorative nut that holds each light to the wall is still with this set. The shades are clean and made of a silk looking fabric on a wire frame. There is a band of hanging beads attached to the bottom of each of the shades. The colors of the lights are copper. This was one of the largest and most successful lighting companies in the U.S. One of these sconces has the original sticker; the sconces are in excellent all-original condition including the bronze gold color finish. These are historic fixtures because the Virden Company re-tooled its manufacturing during WWII for war production; the sconces represent a link to an important era in U.S. history, particularly with regard to womens history. Very nice set of 5 Art Deco Slip Shades Sconces. In good condition. They are frosted with a gold/brown accent of paint in the corners. Very hard to measure due to the curvature. It is 5.4 inches across at its widest point and 6.5 inches at its tallest point. There are a few little nicks on the edges that I have pictured. No chips or cracks. No discoloration. Up for consideration is a fine large pair of well cast Bronze slip shade wall sconces. The Sconces measure 14.75 inches tall by 8.75 inches wide by 2.75 inches deep. They have a screw in mechanism on the back side to hold a glass shade in place. There is also a screw hole probably where the sconces were mounted to the junction box and there are 2 small holes where the appendages flow upwards probably where the sconce was mounted to the wall not sure.maybe they are just design elements. SET OF THREE VINTAGE ~ ORIGINAL CONDITION ~ ART DECO BRASS SLIP SHADE SCONCES MARKED BY THE MANUFACTURER LIGHTOLIER COMPLETE WITH THREE SLIP SHADES This listing includes a set of three matching Lightolier slip shade sconces complete with milk glass shades. These light fixtures are stunning whether the sconces are illuminated or not which makes them a wonderful focal point for any room! With a shade in place. Each sconce measures approximately 10.5 inches in length, 5 inches in width and extends from the wall by just under 4 inches. I believe that the metal backplates are made of brass ~ very heavy and not magnetic. The painted finish is cracking due to age ~ some people like this antique/shabby chic type of look while others may want to refinish the metal. There is no rust present and all of the electrical is vintage so they should be reworked ... moreelectrically prior to use. The three matching slip shades have a wonderful floral type pattern on the front and side of the glass. I believe that these floral decorations are applied via decalcomanias. The colors are still very vibrant after 80 some years! The shades have some fitter roughness and two have some minor chipping on the top edge. I have posted a close-up photos of these areas on one of the shades and have drawn red arrows to point them out. Most individuals leave these areas alone while others touch them up with paint. One of the shades has a very small black line/mark on the top front. Someone told me that this could be removed with a pencil eraser. However, I have left it along. Just a note regarding packing and shipping ~ because the backplates are heavy and the glass very delicate. I will double box the glass for shipping.
