Beautiful Antique Japanese Sterling Silver Cigarette Case With Detailed Carvings
This is a antique Japanese solid sterling silver cigarette case in excellent condition. It measures approximately 3& 5/8" wide x 3& 1/8" high. In its closed position it measures 3/8" thick. It has Japanese scenery engraved on the front. Back and insides. The colored inlay has a gold tint to it but I believe it is copper. Overall it is in excellent condition for its age and has only very faint. Tiny scratch marks. There are no major scratches of any kind. The snapping/closing mechanism works perfectly and the"sterling" hallmark is on the inside when opened. It's total weight is 95.1 grams(pictured on scale) Very rare& beautiful piece. Here is a marvelous antique dark oak table or dresser top cabinet with two shelves behind the lovely carved frame doors surrounding the old oval glass panes. The cabinet has holes in the bottom with screws to securely tighten down the cupboard to the surface on which it sits. This terrific early twentieth century cabinet was imported fromt he United Kingdom through Edinburgh. Scotland. It measures 30 1/2 inches long by 11 inches front to back by 19 inches tall. Inside the two shelves are 28 inches long by 7 3/4 inches front to bach and each have 8 3/4 inches clearance. As shown in my final four photographs. This is a superb pair of antique Chinese soapstone carvings with excellent detail depicting two water buffalo. Each with a monkey riding on it’s back. They probably date from the late 19 th century and the stone has a lovely marbled and veined appearance. Each carving sits astride a plinth wih etched symbols to the front and they have a total height of approximately 5.25 inches(13.25 cms) In good antique condition with a few small nibbles commensurate with age. Antique Victorian Eastlake Rocker Loveseat Settee Great Wood Carvings Upholstery Need a couple of nice Victorian pieces for those finishing touches in a room. Do not miss these pieces. Recently picked them up at an auction. The wood on these pieces is just beautiful. Probably made in the 1880s to 1890s. I think the wood type is mahogany. But may be walnut, you be the judge. The carvings and scrollings are all still intact and were nicely done. The rocker was certainly used more than the settee and shows wear on the arms to the finish. On the left side of the settee the frame has a split in it that was corrected sometime quite a while ago. There is a bolt thru the repair that was not a part of the original piece. See the pic. I picked this piece up in the condition it is in, so cannot speak to when it was reupholstered, but it was done well ... moreand with a material that is very attractive and heavy, no flimsy stuff here. The pieces are all still tightly together at the joints. The rocker still has both its' springs. The roller wheels are both on the settee's front legs. The rocker is 39.25" tall. By 24.5" across, by 24.5" wide. The loves eat/settee is 40.25" tall. By 48" across, by 23" wide. Sorry. The other items you can see in the pics are not for sale. Gilded brass coat hooks and lift top seat with storage below. It has applied carvings at the crest, surrounding the top hooks, on the back, under the arms and at the bottom center on the seat skirt. The manufacturer is unidentified. It has had 3 screws recently added to the arms(one on one side. Two on the other side) and one in the base. Two old chips on back of one arm are present(see picture number 13) but is fairly insignificant as they have developed a matching patina and it adds a little character and testament to its age. This is a magnificent early chinese altar table with intricate scrollwork on lower front with beautiful figural carvings on either winged side. Below the two top drawers. Are carved panels of mythical beasts. Typical of the period are simple brass pulls. doors are on wooden pegs. Also typical of early cabinetry. History with the piece indicates it is from the river region between Beijing and Shanghai where the more cultured and educated lived. Unmarked. One is 8.25" tall, other is 5.75" tall. a Silk Embroidered panel in frame, sealed under glass, measuring 26.5" tall X 13.5" W. Excellent condition. A green glass vase(Age unknown but looks 20th c. unmarked looks like Peking style and has white glass with green over top. Measures 6.5" tall. Early 1900's Combination Curio Antique Peice. Side by Side. Used by some through the Depression. Well-cared for over the years. In near mint condition. Was never restored, in original condition. Bowed glass on curio may have been replaced. Not an expert. But I beleive, though not for certain, this to be of Mahogany Wood. This peice is NOT wobbly. It is sturdy. Four Legs are wood- no cracks. All solid. Overall, in very fine condition. Only flaw: missing handle on curio door. But, there is an easy fix. Hardware, drawer pulls are delicate and pretty for sure. Carvings are detailed, unique in thier own rite, and pretty. Overall the carving theme seems to be of hour glass or shell, in my opinion. Highly carved, refined. Overall, the peice is simply elegant. It is darker wood. Many of this style of antique is oak or other, but few are this ... moregrain and this color. Top shelf over desk. Mirror is beveled. All drawers pull great. Eschucheons(key holes) all in place- though I do not have the key for locking. Inside desk is neat with pull out drawer and some shelving. Hinges on desk are Secure! Fine to hold a lap top. Curio neat to store those show-off collectibles. Four shelves. The shelves can be adjusted for heigth, however, currently, the top shelf is the longest. Measurements: 5'4" tall(final height at carving over beveled mirror) 3'1" wide, and exactly one foot deep, would be 11" from wall, but bowed glass makes it exactly a foot. Nice functional peice- and, a peice of history. Somewhat petite, not obtrusive size out from wall. THIS IS FOR LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY. Unique Antique Sailor's Wormwood, Carvings, Birds, Windmill, Conversation Piece!
Antique Sailor's Wormwood. Carvings, Birds, Windmill, Conversation Piece! This unique piece of folk art was purchased in Albert Lea. Minnesota from a woman who says it was made by a sailor on or before World War II, so I guess it would be considered original folk art. This item has been crudely made. And the significance of a windmill with birds inside a piece of wormword has been long lost. It’s definitely a conversation piece, and extremely rare. I could find nothing similar to it. The piece is about 15 ½ inches tall. About 8 inches wide and about 5 inches deep. It looks like it is a from a timber. Many of the holes have a silvery shine to them. I’m not sure this is from the Teredo worm or if the artist had a little aluminum paint that he very carefully applied. It does give a little more definition to the piece. As you can see. ... moreThere is a small bird attached to the blades of the windmill with a wire. Three other birds are loose, but I’m sure were attached by glue or wire in the past. The larger bird does fit into the windmill hole, as pictured, but could well be placed elsewhere. This larger bird shows a few remaining signs of formerly having real bird feathers attached to it. The windmill itself shows signs of having been glued into the opening in the wormwood. It is 7 ½ inches tall. 2 ½ inches in diameter. The deer head above the little tunnel has a metal antler, but one of them is missing. The blade of the windmill does not turn, or at least does not turn easily, and I haven’t forced it. There is a small crack in one of the blades. Who knows what ship this beam is from, or how old it is! The wormwood piece itself has a few little saw marks showing from where the center was hollowed out, and there is a repair to the lower left of the shelf where two little rusty nails hold on a corner. Wondering where the holes come from? It’s actually a clam! The wood may drift in the ocean currents for weeks or months and travel many miles around the world before it comes to land. Antique Vintage Wood Carvings Tribal Honduran fishing folk
These were my grandfathers. They came into his custody shortly after the end of WW2 while stationed in S. America. They stand about 18 inches tall. They are all in excellent condition with no dings or cracks. Normal wear is expected as they are 60 years old. They are labeled Honduras and signed CA as seen in the pictures. Pair of Kwan Yin Carvings Standing on a Lotus These lovely old wooden carvings of Kwan Yin. They are hand painted in gold. Dark ruby, dark emerald green and black. They are beautifully carved and make quite a statement together. They have been standing in the corner of my breakfast nook for quite some time and I always receive compliments on them. They both have wax seals on their backs. I believe they are both carved from Elm but I am not positive. Measurements and Condition: Statue one- 41" high x 9 3/4" wide Statue two- 40" high x 9 3/4" wide. The statue on the right has a small chip on the base located near the back corner. This statue also has some rub marks on her face. These could easily be restored. There is also a section 1" long on her left eye that has impression marks from something that was pressed against ... moreit. One statue leans forward and needs to be shimmed on the bottom. I have never had a problem with them tipping over though. Our inventory is comprised of only hand-picked exotic estate and antique items.
