Antique brass candle sconces - wall mounted pair
For sale is a beautiful pair of antique brass candle sconces with a rich green patina in some of the crevices. They weigh 234 grams each and mount with four screws. They protrude 9" from the wall and can swing freely on their hinges. The mount itself is 3.25" tall and wide. Each sconce will accept a candle up to 1" diameter and has a screw to hold smaller candles securely. Inside of mount is stamped CM 741.

I believe the piece to be made from bronze and brass and it measures 17" long from the top of the bow to the very bottom underneath the middle candle holder and just a little over 11 1/2" across the center front outside edge. Also measuring just shy of 11 1/4" from the back inside edge where a mirror or picture would be held and 36 1/2" all the way around the circle frame. As seen it has 3 seperate candle holders highly decorated with ornate molded florals& leaves. Detailed raised trim beading and what looks like a hand hammered top bow& ribbons. On the back is missing a couple of metal brackets which hold the mirror or picture inside the frame. The piece looks solid& free any breaks with no signs of ... moreany repairs. Here is a Pair of Antique or Vintage Brass Wall Sconces Lights With Crystal Hanging Prisms. Each one of these has two arms on them with white candlecovers. These will need to be rewired as I wouldn't want to trust the wiring that is in them. These have a nice patina on them. One of them has some paint around the base of it and some up on the arm also, which I am sure would come off with some scrubbing. These will need a good cleaning, all I did was knock the top layer of dust off. There is some very, very light corrosion in a few spots but this isn't bad at all. The y both have hard to read marks on the back- looks like DEP.MUSTER. Each scon ce stands out from the wall about 9 3/4 inches(24.8 cm) The flat piece that mounts to the wall measures about 4 3/4 inches(12.1 cm) top to bottom and 2 3/4 inches(7 cm) across at the widest point. Some points on condition: the pins on which these sconces swivel are different and likely not original. There is some pitting and greenish oxidation(see pictures) also some very small age/stress cracks that do not affect either the look or structural integrity of these sconces. Here is a great pair of antique/vintage wall sconces, each one in the shape of a Temple Menorah with 7 arms, they would look amazing on any wall, the wiring is original so i would have it checked with an electrition, but it is all there, all original. i did not polish the brass so it is in old patina finish. The menorah part is all brass, the backplate is metal that has been gilded. the turn on and off switch is on the back plate and there are two holes for mounting to the wall. the wiring, like i said is all there from all 7 lights to the back. the pair are big measuring 14 3/4 inches long and 11 inches wide at the widest point.the sconces the backplate measures 5" round and are 6.5 inches deep, that means when mounted on the wall they protrude 6.5 inches from the wall. great for lighting a special spot. And with 7 small candelabra ... morebulbs, you will have a great look on the wall. they have an old look. With nice detailing on the front the brass is worn as is the back plate, you can polish up or use as they are. the candlestick parts are covered with white candle covers, and all the insides are there. i have not lit them, i would check with electrition or good handy man before using them. they are as found in an estate. They were stored in the attic for many years, ok the history of them is this, one member of the family said they were in their grandmother's home in the study over the grandfather's desk area, and that they were there for over 80 years, the other family member said that the family story was that they belonged to an older family relative who was a Rabbi and very learned, and he gave them to the grandfather, that is all I know about them, I purchased them a number of years ago and have stored them but never used them. so here they are to sell and find a new home. if you have any other questions email them to me before bidding. thanks so much. Such sconces are normally chrome-plated. I believe that the sconces were never actually used; this suspicion is supported by the wiring– it looks almost new. Also. After 80-years of use the little grooves on the Bakelite on/off knobs would be filled with dirt/grease. Normally I remove such knobs and soak them in soapy water overnight. But these knobs were wholly clean. The sconces were made by Levolite. The company was at 184 Grand Street in NYC. The building is. Today, no doubt high-end condos. The sconces only accept torpedo-shaped appliance bulbs. While such sconces would have normally been used in a bathroom. I believe these sconces, because of their being brass, and having no built-in electrical outlets, were also intended for a living/dining room, or bedroom. This set is ready to hang. And comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: The fixtures accept standard base 60W torpedo appliance bulbs. Each sconce has an on/off switch. The brass mounting buttons are replacements. For auction is a very neat and old piece. This is a solid brass eagle sconce meant to hold a candle stick and mount on a wall. I don't know much about it but it appears to be very old and was likely taken out of an old Baltimore estate. The piece is in excellent condition with only one slight blemish to the top of his head(you cannot see looking face on. Heavily etched face and very ornate pieces. Unique with carved wood in the back and brass on the front. One piece has been cut out in the back to expose the face. For your bidding is a gorgeous pair of Art Deco 2 Light wall sconces. The backs which are 7" in diameter are brass grating with a brass plate in the back that has been painted white. Each sconce has two lights/candles that are 6 1/2" tall with the original sleeves and pull changes to turn on and off(all working) The total length of each sconce is 9 1/2" The arms of the lights have swirled detailed designs and reach out 6 1/2" from the wall. The back plates of the sconces are held on by three nuts. There is a metal bar in which to hang them. They have the original wiring which looks to be in good condition. All parts are originals.
