The table measures 41-3/4" x 16-1/8" when opened and 28-1/2" when folded down. There is a slot for the treadle cord. The bonnet hardware measures 12" apart at the rear and approx. 10" front to back. This was on an ornate treadle base with a patent date from the 1870's. I do not know exactly how old this table is. The wood has wear on top and is very dark in areas. The edges where the table folds has a lot of chipped and flaked veneer. There are gouges where the rear clips from the bonnet were repeatedly hitting the table. The hinges are good. There is supposed to be a support bar that swings out to hold up the table. That is missing. There are also marks underneath where a drawer was mounted on the right side. There are mounting holes for the frame. Each is a two-hole pair with holes 2-3/8" apart. The sets are 9-7/8" from front to back and 21-1/2" apart side to side. We purchased this machine from a person who does not sew. We have found that the Wilcox and Gibbs was probably the most successful of the chain-stitching sewing machines. The"Automatic" was produced continuously unchanged form from 1876 to c.1950. Located in New York City. The company began production in 1858. The company was founded by James Gibbs, and James Willcox. These machines used a single thread to form chain-stitch seams so there is NO bobbin needed. The machines were easy to use and quieter than the lockstitch machines; they were also much less expensive. If you collect sewing machines or just want to display in your home then this is your chance to get one. This machine comes with. Its original manual or book and even some spare needles. Antique Willcox & Gibbs Treadle Sewing Machine Cabinet Extension Leaf Table Top
This is an Antique Willcox& Gibbs Treadle Sewing Machine Cabinet Extension Leaf Table. This holds the"G" shaped Willcox& Gibbs machines with a round base that has a single screw for holding the machine in place. The table measures 41-3/4" x 16-1/8" when opened and 28-1/2" when folded down. There is a slot for the treadle cord. The bonnet hardware measures 12" apart at the rear and approx. 10" front to back. This was on an ornate treadle base with a patent date from the 1870's. I do not know exactly how old this table is. The wood has wear on top and is very dark in areas. The edges where the table folds has a lot of chipped and flaked veneer. There are gouges where the rear clips from the bonnet were repeatedly hitting the table. The hinges are good. There is supposed to be a support bar that ... moreswings out to hold up the table. That is missing. There are also marks underneath where a drawer was mounted on the right side. There are mounting holes for the frame. Each is a two-hole pair with holes 2-3/8" apart. The sets are 9-7/8" from front to back and 21-1/2" apart side to side. This is a antique 1902 Willcox Gibbs industrial sewing machine Ser. No. A733982 that I have restored. All old paint was removed and parts cleaned then inspected and found in good condition. I painted it black and after new decals where put on. Clear paint was sprayed on to seal and protect the new decals. The machine sews a good stitch and works easy. All nickel plated parts where polished. It has some pitting on the cloth that I clean and polished over. it looks good and works fine. Question welcome.

For sale this great antique Willcox-Gibbs cast iron sewing machine made in the USA. This machine is fastened to a solid wooden board base about 14 inches by 10 inches. And about 1 inch thick. It has a side mounted electric Continental Motor uses 110 volts 4.0 amps, and is marked as being model#68. The body of this machine is a round wheel shape, and the motor is connected to a 3 plug socket. Black painted with gold leaf filigree detailing. Machine is about 10 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 9 inches tall. This machine is patented in the USA on March 28, 1882, April 17, 1883, November 22, 1887, February 12,19,26 of 1889, and August 28,1894. Also patented in Great Britain and France. Machine is in good to very good overall condition, showing a fair amount of paint wear, chipping from long usage, handling, and storage. These Schmetz needles have the groove all the way up the shaft as required for the machine to slide over the pin in the needle bar. It will fit the older glass tension machine. The automatic and the later electric chain stitch machines. Mirror smooth Schmetz needles glide through fabric and are superior to the original Willcox& Gibbs needles with a dull finish that does not penetrate all fabrics smoothly. Over the years I have used both original and Schmetz needles in my Willcox& Gibbs machines and discovered the problem of using dull finish needles. Especially on some fabrics and layers. Old/Antique/Vintage-Iron- WILLCOX and GIBBS S. M. CO. Sewing Machine with Westinghouse electric motor in unrestored original condition. Very few cracks. Chips and nicks but no dents. Paint is good overall condtion but paint is rubbed out at the Willcox name decoration. Petal has small chips and nicks from normal use. Cords still functions but is somewhat dried out and probably should be replaced. Sewing machine still works good and is complete but could use some general maintenance. Wetinghouse motor still runs strong and is in total control from it's petal, operating smoothly and quietly. The carrying case is sturdy and strong and still looks great. The material outside is in great shape for it's age but inside has a portion of materal rubbed out by the motor being taken in and out. Willcox & Gibbs collectible, antique, sewing machine in great shape
Here's a fine example of the famous Willcox& Gibbs chain stitch sewing machine. These machines are reported to be the most sought after collectible machine there is. This particular one was made around the turn of the century so for a 110 year old machine. It's in great condition. The chrome still looks outstanding and it sews very well as you can see in the sample. This one looks to be original- restore. Repaint, re-letter if you want- but it looks good enough in my opinion to be added to your collection as is. Not a lot more I can say about these except if you're not familiar with them you should do some searches on the web and read all about them.

Antique hand crank Willcox Gibbs sewing machine, Restored.
This is a very beautiful Restored hand crank Willcox Gibbs sewing machine Ser. No. A733982. I have taken the machine apart and cleaned all parts. Inspected them and found them in very good condition. All old paint was removed and repainted with black and after new decals where put on it was sprayed with clear paint to seal and protect the new decals. The machine is mounted on a solid wood board with a hand crank that turns very easy and sews a good stitch. All nickel plated parts where polished. I have add new felt pads to the bottom to protect the table tops.This machine is in great condition and would be a good one to add to your collection. Question welcome.

For your consideration is this WILLCOX& GIBBS sewing machine complete with WESTINGHOUSE motor.The machine runs when plugged in but the needle only goes up and down maybe once and then seems to hesitate although the motor sounds fine.I'm not a sewing machine technician so I have not fiddled with it. The machine was very dirty when I bought this at an estate sale so I wiped it down to bring out its nice old lustre.There is some paint loss of of its decoration and to its base at the end where the motor sits-I have tried to give adequate shots of the entire machine. The plate has some light rust and pitting but I believe it could be polished if desired. On the plate that bears the Willcox name is stamped a serial? 2780. The cord I believe is a newer replacement as I've looked at some other machines like this and the originals are ... morecovered in cloth. Decals are intact with minimal loss. Shiny metal(polished nickel? on platten and flywheel is clean. No apparent oxidation. Case is separating at one corner. But otherwise in good condition. Three boxes contain many small attachments. Knobs, and intricate parts. Small black box is original box for the light but now holding attachments. Pedal is stored in a black flannel bag. Pack of needles pinned to old fabric looks original to the machine. Pedal is in same fine condition as the machine. Power cords on machine and pedal seem to be modern replacements. Fabric cord on the light looks original. Is not frayed, shows almost no wear. Original manual ... moreis fragile. As is a second page of literature. Set of photocopied manual pages is included. Antique Willcox& Gibbs Sewing Machine and Case 1894 Runs Great old sewing machine for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an auction. First of all this case is in great condition. The latches still all work and the handle is still on it. Has the brass protective plates on all of the corners. A little musty smell inside the case that a good airing or some tea bags should address. The last patent year on this sewing machine is 1894 on the chromed plate by the needle. What a great sewing machine. When I plugged it all in it works and the speed of the machine can be reduced and sped up with the foot control. The cords are older and the plugs are worn. I would recommend that they be looked at by a professional should you plan to use this machine as opposed to adding it to your collection. I recently had another Wilcox that I ... moresold that was newer than this one and had a belt drive. This older sewing machine has a mechanical arm that drives the piece. There is a little corrosion on on side of the chromed wheel. Some wear on the stenciling on the front side. But still all there. The stenciling on the back still looks great. Just a clean machine all around. You will not see older ones in this nice of shape come along very often. The foot control pedal is with it and has that great"WG" emblem on the foot pad. I have not serviced or cleaned this machine other than wiping it down. I make no representations that the machine will still operate. Wind string onto the bobbin, etc. The case is 23.5" long by 12" tall. By 7.75" wide. The sewing machine is 16.5" long, by 9.5" tall, by 6" wide. There was no paper that came with this machine. C1890 Willcox & Gibbs New York Deposee Industrial Hat Making Sewing Machine
This is one of the nicest preserved examples of the Willcox& Gibbs Sewing Machine Company of New York industrial grade sewing machines used at the former William Knowlton& Sons hat manufactory once located in West Upton. Massachusetts. Probably circa 1880- 1908, it was used used to sew braid in the hat making process. The machine has been preserved for many years in a layer of light grease. It will need to be cleaned and then lubricated to bring to full use again but it has never been allowed to rust. It measures 9" X 9" plus it has the original underside securing weight for attaching to a workbench. This is a great opportunity to own one of the key manufacturing components of the New England Industrial Revolution, particularly relating to the textile industry. An old Wilcox& Gibb electric sewing machine. It has a foot pedal. We plugged it in and the motor works. We didn't try to sew with it. Or hook the foot pedasl to the machine. The appearance is very good. With lots of original stencil decoration. There is an 1894 patent date. The machine and foot pedal weighs 27 pounds together. The machine and motor are 20" long. Scarce original American sewing machine.

This is one of the most beautiful Antique 1870 Glass Bead Willcox Gibbs sewing machine that you will see. Ser. No. 145069 that I have restored. All old paint was removed and repainted with black paint and after new decals where put on it was sprayed with clear to seal and protect the new decals. All parts where cleaned and inspected and found in very good condition. The nickel plated parts where polished. It sews a good stitch and works easy. You will notice it dosen't have a medallion on either side of the base, the very old Willcox Gibbs machine didn't have one; the name is only on the cloth plate. This one is very collectable, a good one to add to your collection.

This is a beautiful Antique 1881 Hand Crank Willcox Gibbs sewing machine. Serial No. A358162 that I have restored. All old paint was removed and repainted with black paint and after new decals where put on it was sprayed with clear to seal and protect the new decals. All parts where cleaned and inspected and found in very good condition. The nickel plated parts where polished. It sit on a solid wood board with new felt pads on the bottom to protect the table tops. It sews a good stitch and works easy. I will ship International.

Willcox and Gibbs Lockstitch needles and box
I have 10(TEN) Willcox& Gibbs Lockstitch needles and the original box. The needles themselves say W& G on them and they have a slit going down the side. I don't really know a thing about sewing/ notions but I picked these up at a yard sale. The side of the box says Lockstitch B.E. 4 Made in uSA and the front says Willcox And Gibbs and the back indicates 100 Lockstitch needles and the company address. the other side says Beware of imitations as they are liable to injure the machine.
