Antique measuring tape "Four Season Floral Tape Measure" Patent July 6, 1891
This is a beautiful antique material(maybe silk ribbon? that is just a guess) measuring tape. It says on the end Four Season Floral Tape Measure. Patented July 6th. 1891(or maybe 1 897. But it does loo k to me like 1891) It has beautiful flowers printed representing the 4 seasons. Has a tear on one end of the tape measure near the bar at the end. Bu t over all in my very inexpert opi nion it seems to be in p retty good shape. I am not an expert on these by any stre tch of the imagination. Antique Victorian era cat figurine tape measure. Hollow molded base metal cat originally had silver tone metal surface. Since worn off. Brass pull ring attached to 5/16" wide dusty blue fabric tape w/black printed increments/numbers. Pulls out from body of cat manually. Metal stick tail probably had some sort of covering. Still works; tail turns round and round to wind tape back into cat's body. Cat stands upright for display. Fabric tape has some wear along edges. Rare sewing collectible. No chips/cracks. A very nice antique promotional sewing tape measure advertising John Deere farm equipment. This early plastic celluloid tape measure is green with yellow trim. One side has the bust of John Deere with"He gave to the world the steel plow" outlined in red. The other side advertises"John Deere. Moline, Ill. The Trade mark of Quality Made Famous by Good Implements" outlined in red. The inside edge is marked with patent dates Pat. 7-10-17(July 10, 1911) and 11-4-19(November 4, 1919) Parisian Novelty Company, Chicago. This tape measure case is 1 3/16" diameter. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The yellow cloth tape works just fine. It would make a nice addition to any collection of John Deere or old advertising sewing tools. Antique Brass Pig Tape Measure - Tail Moves Tape, Early 1900's
This is a cute antique brass pig tape measure. Probably for sewing in the early 1900's. It's tail winds and unwinds the tape. The pig is 2" long by 3/4" wide and 1" tall. The pig is a little tarnished but in good condition. The measuring tape will move, but it is so fragile, that I didn't unwind it. Any questions, please ask.

Tape Measure Vintage Antique Linen Reel 100 Feet Cool old collectible that works
Very old with 100F marking on reel. I did not pull it out very far due to its age but it reels back fine for what I tried. The very end of the linen ruler is tied in a knot. It was obviously used alot but it is not too bad for what looks like a 100 year old or more tool. Reel mechanism works fine. Diameter is 4.5 inches and it is a little more than an inch at its widest point. I've seen old tape measures sell anywhere from $20 to upwards of $300 but I'm letting the market decide on this. 1 penny minimum bid with no reserve! USA P&H is $5.95 and International P&H is $11.95. Charming antique. Heavy celluloid, BLACK Americana. Figural head tape measure. Circa 1920, made in Germany. Measuring just under 2 inches(1 3/4" high she has chubby features including full cheeks. Small mouth, molded and painted eyebrows and cute intaglio, side-glancing eyes. She also has lots of dark brown, molded and painted curly hair peaking out from her wrapped and tied red bandana as wll as a striped red and white shirt collar. Tape25 Antique Reverse Painted Glass Tape Measure English* Circa 1850 This little tape measure is a lovely example of the reverse painted glass pieces from the early Victorian era. This one has a picture of the New Pier. Brighton. These were actually hand painted onto the back of the glass following a black line print transfer that was applied first. The sides and back are brass colored but it attracts a magnet so they must be steel. The woven tape is original and marked in inches(begins at 7" The tape automatically retracts back into the case when released. The case measures 1 1/2" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips. Dents or cracks. Some pin cushions in this style are shown on p. 141 of Nerylla Taunton's book Antique Needlework Tools but the tape measures are much harder to find. Tape Antique Vegetable Ivory Tape Measure English* Circa 1890 This nice little antique tape measure is carved of vegetable ivory. It has a pierced design around the top and sits on a scalloped& pierced pedestal foot. The silk tape is marked in inches and i t winds in by turning the bone* spindle on top. The tape is complete and original. The condition is excellent with no cracks or other damage. There is a nick in the base. Above the pedestal(see 2nd photo) but it's a flaw in the veg ivory rather than damage. I t measures 2 1/8" high and the base is slightly over 1" in diameter. This item is made of bone from a domestic cow(bovine) and not from an endangered species. Vegetable ivory comes from the corozo or tagua nut of a South American palm tree and was a favorite with the Victorians. It has the hardness and texture of ... moreivory and a warm honey color. I did a bit of research on google and found R. M. Rose Co. moved to Jackonsville from Chattanooga when the Tennessee legislature voted the state"dry" as of 1 January 1908. In 1913 the company was sold to Seagram and Company. So that gives a nice narrow date range for this. Overall this in is very good condition. Celluliod side has bright graphics and is free of damage. Mirror side has good glass with some loss of silvering. Tape inside is not worn and retracts properly. Tape24 Antique Sea Shell Silk Tape Measure English* Circa 1840-50 This nice little antique tape measure is made of a real sea shell that has been adapted to hold the tape. Seaside towns were popular Victorian holiday destinations and many varieties of shells were used to make these little souvenir tapes. This one is a smll cowrie shell. The carved ivory colored knob on the side turns to wind the tape back in and it works well. The silk tape is original and marked in inches(starts at 21" The shell is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or other damage. It measures about 1 1/2" long and 3/4" wide. Antique Goldtone Metal Lydia E. Pinkham's Advertising Tape Measure
Early promotional advertising item for Lydia E. Pinkham products. Gold coloured tape measure case about 1-1/2" in diameter X 7/16" with a cloth measure tape approximately 40" long X 1/4" The button retraction side has some stamped engraving as a design and the back obtains the advertising for Vegetable Compound. Herb Medicine, Pills for Constipation, and Sanative Wash. The tape still retracts except for the last few inches. A great collectible. not necessarily a good tape measure device. Pinkham was a pioneer in the promotional give-away marketing method of advertising. This is an old item from our personal family estate and is not a commercial resale. Offered without reservation.
