These THIMBLES measure about 3/4" to 1" tall x 5/8" in diameter. They all look silver. But I leave it to you collectors to determine with a description of the markings and MANY pictures below: 1. Hallmarks ~ Sterling ~ Germany ~ 7 ~; 2. Hallmarks ~ Pat. May 28. 1889 ~#8 ~ and it is engraved& has a gold wash. it looks sterling. But I see no further marks; 3. A lovely floral band with a Sterling hallmark on the inside of the thimble; 4. Hallmarks ~#10& mongrammed with initials; has a lovely gold wash but no other marks. The sides are embossed with beading and Greek key designs and the bottom has a little acorn finial. It contains a brass thimble. Also with a Greek key pattern. The interior is lined with the original velvet and it has a ring to attach it to a chatelaine. The condition is excellent with no dents. Wear or other damage. The interior is lined with velvet and it holds a small brass thimble. The detail is lovely and very realistic. The thimble is in excellent condition with no holes or other damage. It is about an American size 7(14 mm diameter opening) The boot is missing a little leather around the heel and on the sole. But it's not especially noticeable. Up for bids is this adorable vintage ceramic dog pin cushion and thimble holder. Dog measures 2 1/2" at tallest by 4" long. Thimble measures 1 1/8" tall with pink flowers and gold bands. Partial paper price? label on bottom. Pastel flowers surround pin cushion area. Not sure if this is original thimble. There are a few tiny drying cracks under glaze around flowers and may be some tiny chips to a few flower petals but really not detectable the say it's made. An old Mauchline Ware Thimble holder in the form of a sauce pan. Featuring a picture of Southwell Cathedral(usually known as Southwell Minster) in Nottinghamshire.The Silver thimble,which fits perfectly into the centre,has the initials of Charles Horner and is hallmarked for Chester 1881.The only flaw is a piece missing from the knob of the pan lid.Otherwise everything is in very good condition even the thimble.

The embossed or repousse Victorian thimble holder has an openwork scroll design all over and a flower carved on the top. It is 15/16" long by 1" wide including the hinge; over the hinge is a soldered jump ring so that it can be worn with a chain or a ribbon to have it handy. It is in excellent condition and the hinge works perfectly. The bottom of the thimble holder is marked"Sterling" and has a C over a W with an arrow through it. The holder weighs 8 grams. The 10 carat gold thimble weighs 2.7 grams and fits on the stand or pedestal perfectly. The inside bottom of the thimble is marked with a"10k" A"6" the initials"H" and"R" each in one square box over another square box, ... moreand an arrow. This piece measures 1-3/16 inches high X 1 inch diameter. It weighs 12.7 grams. The hinge is in excellent condition. On the bottom it has the conjoined initials UB for Unger Brothers and is also marked STERLING 925 FINE. This piece was well used and is slightly off-round. Vintage celluloid tusk with blackamoor figure thimble holder case
This is a quite a unique item. This a thimble holder that is made from celluloid in the shape of a tusk or horn. Perched on the tusk is a blackamoor figure. The blackamoor is also made of celluloid. There is a hole in the tusk where a thimble can sit upside down. The tusk is 3 1/8 inches long and including the blackamoor is 1 3/8 inches high. The piece is pretty unusual and we have not found another one like it. We believe it dates to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. The tusk has some cracking on the top that starts at the hole for the thimble. The blackamoor may be missing a hand. Signature confirmation is included in the shipping cost. Gorgeous antique 1800's Georgian figural combination tool- pin cushion and thimble holder- in the form of a sedan chair. Beautifully decorated silver- this is unmarked but has been acid tested and shows sterling quality silver. The top is hinged and lifts up to reveal the storage chamber within. I believe that this would have a padded pin cushion in the lift up top. Whilst the lower section would have a thimble holder in the form of a rectangular box that drops in. A similar item was sold on Ebay some months ago and had the thimble holder intact but was not made of silver. Silver in excellent condition. But requiring restoration to the pin cushion lid and to the silk covered thimble holder box in the lower section. Measures 6.5cm high, 8.3cm long and 4cm wide. Outstanding item for restoration!
