There are a number of different types / styles featured on this card, including:bubble-tops, realistic, wafer, set-in-metal, metal OMEs, tight tops, and others. I enjoy learning about them, cleaning some of them, sorting them and then selling them. I rarely keep any of the buttons I buy. There are 30 buttons in this lot. Each square on the mat represents one-inch so you can judge approximate sizes. I did not clean these buttons. I just dusted them off a bit. I may have replaced some of the stones that were either missing or broken. There are pictures of both the fronts and backs so that you can better judge the quality of these buttons. 3 GORGEOUS ANTIQUE GAY 90's STEEL CUT & CELLULOID BUTTONS
3 GORGEOUS ANTIQUE BUTTONS that I believe are from the 1890's and are called GAY 90's for their bold design and flair! All 3 of these are grouped together because they do not have their shanks on the back. I'm not sure if they still have value but they certainly are beautiful. The largest one with the purple glass stone measures 1 3/4" in diameter. The steel cut button is 1 1/2" diameter and the smallest with the celluloid center is 1 1/4" They are so much nicer then my photos so bid with confidence. Eleven Vintage 1940's & 1950s KLUSON Celluloid TUNER BUTTONS Gibson Guitar
Interesting true story. When I moved here some 35 years ago. There was a well established family owned music shop called Brass& Reed which had already been in business for several decades earlier. Although they primarily catered to brass instruments, they had a stringed instrument division(guitars, banjos& mandolins) for many years which they closed shortly after my arrival. Skip forward to 2000 and the patriarch sadly passes away. The son decides to close the shop for retail sales purposes and continues with his penchant& skill for brass instrument repairs. One day I stop by the shop to say hello and the son asks me to buy all the mandolin& guitar related parts. Repair& restoration items in storage in the back of the shop for decades which I did. I have no expertise in many of these items and so they are being offered ... morefor sale here AS IS for vintage projects and for restoration purposes. This may seem like a strange thing to list but it seems that at least 50% of the 1940's& 1950’s era Kluson Deluxe tuners listed on eBay have no tuner buttons or very badly deteriorating celluloid buttons which means that folks have to install new after-market celluloid buttons. Here is a beautiful mixed lot of over 3 pounds of Victorian and antique buttons. The largest ones are about an inch and a half in diameter. There are lots of black glass jet and metal ones with shanks. There are some everyday buttons too but all are clean and beautiful. I am not a button collector. But have many antique buttons that have been kept in my family and passed along. I plan to list them and am learning about them as I go in order to provide the best description. If you are collector I welcome any corrections or improvements to my listing! This auction is for a pair of matching buttons. Burgandy color. Each button measures approx 5/8" At first I thought they were made of wood, but holding them to the light I think they are plastic, possibly celluloid? Interesting metal inlay design of what appears to be a seated asian woman holding a bird with palm tree in back of her. The metal is silver color but I do not know if it is sterling. I can see a tiny broken spot on one of the buttons. Near the bird's wing. I think you can see this in the photos. Also, these buttons are not exactly the same ... morecolor. One is definitely a bit brighter than the other. I tried to move them around in the photos to see if it was my flash, but it is not. There are no manufacturers markings on the backs. This is a very nice assortment of 24 vintage shanked buttons. Over half the lot is made up of celluloids including a couple large ball shaped buttons and a bubble top. The lot also includes a composite and an acetate button. The clear lucite button has a paste faux rhinestone. The top center celluloid button measures about 1 inch in diameter. 2 Large Art Deco Celluloid Buttons, Log Button & Buckle
Nice group of 3 vintage celluloid buttons and one celluloid buckle. The largest button is 2 1/4 inches across. The other round one is 1 7/8 inches, the log button with metal trim is 1 3/4 inches long and the buckle is 2 inches on it's longer side. The two round buttons and the buckle appear to be layered. Center has lace under celluloid; multi-piece construction(center celluloid is somewhat dull, lace can be seen with jewelers loop) Brass decorative; 2–piece construction tunnel White metal with brass center; 2-piece tunnel shank. some discoloration on brass) Steel base with steel cut center; riveted in place loop Brass with cream celluloid center; multi-piece construction separate rim. Vintage Sewing Lot 18+ Shell/Metal Buttons & Celluloid Bell Brand Needle Compact
Fun vintage sewing lot! Included are 18 loose buttons made of shell. Metal, and plastic; one celluloid replacement button on the original card circa 1950; and a neat spinning needle dispenser. The biggest button(approximately 1.25" in the top left is metal with a green glass cabochon center(hard to photograph) The rest are a mix of shell and plastic, including one small shell button with detailed designs(see botton left) The needle dispenser has some plastic broken off the back around the dispenser opening and has a needle caught inside, but is a lovely aqua color and with an intricate coat of arms design on the back. It reads"Bell" Brand Needle-Compact, Made in Hong Kong. Looks to be 30s era based on the font and design. Very neat little lot that would look great in a vintage sewing box!
