The black finish is in good condition. There is some tarnish to the medal. The hand-wheel turns easily and the needle goes up and down. The decals are in almost perfect condition. It measures 7” tall. 6½” long, 3½” wide, and weighs 2.8 pounds. The guide is missing on the sewing plate. Please look closely at the photographs to help you determine the condition. This charming little sewing machine would make a great start to beginning of a sewing machine collection or a great addition to an established collection. No reserve. It has been reglued and reinforced and is now solid and strong. All of the wood has been sanded, stained and varnished- even the handcrank handle and inside of the base compartment. The slide cover just rests on the compartment. There is no latch. This machine was used and it shows. The base has some black paint loss and"pin strike loss" on the arm. These machines are beautiful to us but were utilitarian to the people who used them, and this shows. There is no rust on moving parts. All parts have been burnished, cleaned, oiled and reassembled- tiny parts on the thread tension assembly and all. The timing on this machine is superb. The slide plates are original. I felt they should stay this way, so instead of replacing them I polished off the rust and repainted them. They need a push to open but this is better than sliding off to become lost. This is a smooth-turning, well-sewing machine. Treat her right and she will literally last forever. I'm looking for someone to enjoy her as much as I enjoyed restoring her. We purchased this machine from a person who does not sew. We have found that the Wilcox and Gibbs was probably the most successful of the chain-stitching sewing machines. The"Automatic" was produced continuously unchanged form from 1876 to c.1950. Located in New York City. The company began production in 1858. The company was founded by James Gibbs, and James Willcox. These machines used a single thread to form chain-stitch seams so there is NO bobbin needed. The machines were easy to use and quieter than the lockstitch machines; they were also much less expensive. If you collect sewing machines or just want to display in your home then this is your chance to get one. This machine comes with. Its original manual or book and even some spare needles. Here is an 1882 vintage Singer hand crank sewing machine inan end opening mahogany case with a working lock and key. The serial number reads 5278577 which indicates it was madein 1882. It is cast iron andsurprisingly heavy. It sews a perfect stitch with an oscillating shuttle. Youcan see the photo of the stitches it made. The black finish on the machine itselfis a little dull with some wearing away of the finish on the front edge of thefiddle base. I just lubricated the machine and it spins very smoothly. It couldbe fitted into a treadle base because it has holes and a groove to accept atreadle belt. The mahogany case is in good condition with a few wear marks onthe top edges. The key is included. Fantastic antique hand crank sewing machine. Made by Singer Sewing Co. I looked up the serial number on Singer's website and this machine dates to 1896! WOW! I believe its model 128. It comes with the wood case and a few accessories(see 12th picture) The accessories were inside the side storage compartment under machine. So I assume they go with the machine. I will include them with the purchase and the buyer can do with them as they like. Beautiful marble handle. Everything seems to be in working order. Has a"bullet" type bobbin. Base of machine measures 12" x 6.5" Please remember that this machine is 117 years old, so there is some wear to the paint, decals and wood box. 1922 Singer 28K Hand Crank Sewing Machine with Mahogany Coffin Case
Up for auction is an antique Singer hand crank sewing machine. Model 28K. Serial number Y637955 dates the machine to 1922. Very good condition– all of the mechanisms appear to be working and the crank turns smoothly. The finish is in good condition with only minor scuffs and scratches and some wear to the decals. The case is a coffin style appears to be mahogany and is in very good condition. The only issue with the case is a repair to the accessory compartment- there is a crack in one of the“rails” that holds the lid on and a small chip to the corner of the top. The latches are intact and sturdy. I did have to replace the front slide plate( it was missing when I got the machine) I took one f rom another Singer machine I have- it is not an exact match( see photo) and is a little hard to slide. A replacement slide can always be purchased on- ... moreline if this creates any problems. The machine comes with a shuttle. This is a Vintage Singer Hand Crank Pinking Machine. Singer part# 121379. This one has a"blackside" deck and crank arm where Singer used black metal instead of chrome. It also has crinkled paint. It works and was tested on thin leather. Denim and vinyl upholstery. It comes with a non-Singer clamp and a copy of the instruction sheet. The instructions are not original Singer paperwork. The pinker is in good condition. It rotates with ease. It has black textured paint. The metal deck has some scratches and is slightly bent down on the front left corner. All other chrome and unpainted metal parts are in good condition with some signs of age and use. The felt is worn thin on the bottom. The complete assembly measures 7" wide x 2-5/8" deep and is 5" tall. The deck measures 2-1/2" x 2-1/8" The base measures 3-1/2" ... morex 2-11/16" oval. Very RARE Vintage Factory Original Hand Crank Singer Sewing Machine
This machine was originally made as a hand crank. Not one of those that has been changed to a hand crank. It was probably made in the late 1800's. That's when they used the boat shuttle. Couldn't find an exact date on it. Serial# 890808. The gold badge on the front reads VERBESSERTE SINGER NAHMASCHINE SEIDEL& NAUMANN DRESDEN. The silver plate says NADEL 10 GARN 80-100. I believe that this machine was made in Germany. The floral design on the bed of the machine has Mother of Pearl inlay. It still sews great, and runs smooth and quiet. Considering it's age I think it still looks really good. It is in original used condition. There is a lot of detail work in the case. The case does have a couple issues on the back side of the lid( see picture) They were there when I got the machine. I do have the key for the case. The inlaid Mother-Of-Pearl accents are mostly intact, some missing. The rubber bumper wheel shows a flat spot. The bobbin is intact and working but untested with thread& fabric. All pictured. The inlaided wood case shows burn marks& scratches but is solid and comes with the original skeleton key, lock works. Antique Singer Model 20 Hand Crank Child's Sewing Machine For Girls 1914
This is a really nice early Singer sewing machine in very good condition! As you can tell by the phots. This is dusty from disuse and I imagine it needs an oiling, although all the parts move freely. The black paint and gold decals are in exceptional condition, some age oxidation to the nickel as would be expected, but as I mentioned it has not been cleaned in any way and I suspect some is just dirt. This does have the threads guides, dating it to 1914 or a little later. It is missing the screw behind the needle slot and the fabric guide, otherwise it appears to be all complete and is definitely all original, with a beautiful form and fancy spokes. No wear or damage to the wood crank handle, I don't think this little gem has seen much use! It has been patiently waiting for a century for a little care and a lot of use, perfect for very ... morefine work and an excellent display piece! Singer Sewing machine bought in England in the late 1980's. Current owner supplied following information: Model 16K made between July and Dec 1900 in Clyvevank Scotland. Serial# is P145782. Sews and there appears to be no hitches in the hand crank which we have seen with others- it is very smooth. Sews straight without any aid. The shuttle cover is loose and if you tip the machine towards you it will slide out of place. The case is in very good condition- a little wear however not much for something so old. Singer model 35-1 handheld sewing machine 2384 stamped above Singer plaque(probably too low for a serial# Made for industrial use on carpet. Leather, drapes, and anything else tough You do not see the 35-1 model very often. This one does show wear but gearing and various mechanisms work great. It is missing spool holders and has some minor surface rust where finish is worn off due to that tough material it was built for.
