Inside are 2 spools of thread and in the middle is a needle case. The sides are embossed with floral designs and the chain goes through loops on both sides of the top so it can't be lost. The condition is excellent with very little wear and no dents. Repairs or other damage. It measures 2" long(not counting the chain) and is 5" long from the top of the chain to the bottom of the case. Tried to find out about this little box. I was told by an antique Dealer it was a"travel sewing kit' and would be from"the early to mid 1850's" Showed to to several locations and they all pretty much agreed. Makes sense. The third and fourth picture shows the black band which would hold the needles. Too small to accept a manicure set. Anyway, measures out 4 1/2" X 2 7/8" and 1" high. It has ornate sterling silver put on the corners. You'll love it! Good luck.

Antique Vintage Girl's Sewing Holder Kit Drawstring Bag Russet Spools
A very old young girl's sewing holder. It's a russet coloured draw-string bag with a padded board in the base. The base has a small box attached to it. Which holds the sewing spools. On the lid of the box is'for a little girl' The box measures 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 3/8" and it is stitched onto the base. It holds 12 tiny wooden spools. They don't appear to have been used. The box has a small ribbon on either side that can be tied to hold the lid on. The base has elastic loops for sewing accessories. There is a row of pins through padding of the base too. The bag measures approx. 8" deep. The board base is 5" x 5" There is a beige draw-string ribbon that runs through a pocket. About 1" from the top. There are different sized rings attached around the inside. A couple have safety pins attached ... moreto them. The tassel, which seems to be a covered piece of wood? is attached to one of the rings. It looks like the outside had a silk? ribbon running around it. But it has deteriorated and only a few pieces are left, some small pieces can be seen inside. This bag has been used. This is a charming miniature sewing set in a bucket. It is sterling silver and was made in 1906 in Birmingham England. The makers mark is L&S for Levi and Salaman. The set includes the bucket. Scissors, thimble and needle holder. The bucket is 7/8 of an inch high excluding the handles. The scissors are 1 3/8 inches long and the thimble is 7/16 of an inch high. There is no damage. this is an extremely rare antique handmade Sadeli Indian sewing kit/ box. from early 1800's it is made from wood. Sterling silver, ox bone ivory, jade stone, velvet, faux tortoise shell. it is extremely well made and the inlay is truly impeccable. Extremely intense and very tiny, made into nicely designed star shapes. the box's top has a great hand cut wooden scene of nice animals surrounded by floral foliage and highly embossed with tight detailing. it also has several different animal scenes on the sides and back as well. the top as a slight dome shape. inside the top lid of the box is a mirror that sits nicely and locks in by brass clasps. And does remove. behind it is velvet lined as well as the bottom and the pin cushion. the box has many compartments and many hand cut ox bone ivory pieces. Which are also inlaid with high quality ... morematerial. i am not sure what all the pieces are for all the lids remove as well as the pin cushion in the middle. the box is footed with beautiful hand cut ox bone ivory feet. this whole part that has all the compartments removes and reveals another compartment in the bottom. the clasps and hardware are made from sterling silver. the piece opens. Closes, and locks nicely. the box is in exquisite shape and and all inlays are present. Which is extremely rare being it is from early 1800's, there is only a split in the wood on the bottom of the piece. it measures 7 1/8 x 5 1/8 x 3 1/6 inches the only thing that is missing is the key. I bought this sewing Singer sewing machine kit in the 70's when I was gifted a Red Eye Treadle Sewing Machine. which FYI I may be selling on ebay soon for local pickup) Any way this is a unique oak box design. That unfurls reveling MANY singer tools and accessories. One of the photos shows the Singer logo, and several other show the patent or piece numbers. The box, and parts, all appear to be in excellent condition. The box closes tightly and the latch and hinges all appear pristine, as do the tools. This is a truly beautiful piece/s. I think the top carving says"patented 1888, February 10" Forgot to mention: Length is 6.5 and it's 3 1/4" deep. And the original purple velvet( lining is near mint, other than imprints from the tools, and none of the tools are rusty or damaged.

Exterior in excellent condition- embossed Mrs. Sims to the front right hand bottom corner and the maker's name- Finnegans& Co. Manchester and Liverpool- in gilt lettering to the underside of base. In pretty good condition- there is a small split to each end of the leather hinge of the lid. External measurements are 18.5cm x 14cm deep including handle and 5.3cm high. Inside of lid is covered in plush red velvet with leather restraining straps to hold tools- currently a pair of scissors. A steel stiletto with cow bone handle and a steel crochet hook with cow bone and white metal handle. Base is lined in leather- plush velvet recessed compartment to hold a thimble. ANTIQUE FRENCH MUSICAL SEWING KIT This is a great piece of musical history. Dating to the mid to late 1800's. Created for elegant ladies as part of their traveling ensemble. These"necessaires" were carried aboard ships or trains by their entourage. The laquered wood cabinet. With brass stringing inlay on the lid, measures 9.5" wide, 6.5" deep, 3.5" high(when closed) It has the original lock and key. Inside. One finds an elegant sewing kit, with gilt instruments, including a scissors, and other pieces that I do not have a clue as to name or function. There are also two em pty gilt spools. Presumably to hold thread. The original mirror inside the lid is intact but with some discoloration due to age. Underneath the instrument tray(which is removable) is a two-tune Swiss music box. This is a delightful little sewing kit. My guess is the 50's. The zipper is made by the Reis company and they opened in 1949. The scissors and screw cap needle holder are stamped Germany. There are 2 sets of needles. R. J. Roberts(made in England) and Princess Victoria made in Germany. The kit looks to be unused and in perfect condition.

He is carrying a needle case that has some needles in it, and a sword that is very sharp, that I think acted like a scissors and there is a little hoop in his belt where I imagine there was once a thimble. Down his or her long legs are some black round headed pins. She is wearing a scarf and a hat and her or his black hair is painted on as well as the other gorgeous facial features. The sewing case is 3 1/4" long and from the top of the clip to the bottom of the case it measures 6" long The thimble is about an American size 9(15.5 mm diameter opening) and is quite comfortable to wear. I assume this is Persian/Turkish owing to the artwork and the Crescent and Star on the outer box and the crescent and star painted on the tools inside. The lid turns into a thimble. The case contains a large carved needle, a carved needle case, a pair of scissors and a crochet hook. This has discoloured with age and there are grain marks in the case. Case length 3 1/2" x 3/4" wide Fleabites to rim and thimble rim. The main case has a curved area cut out. As it was carved, not damage. Original painting was red and gold. Most gold has disappeared on the exterior commensurate to age/use. Assume 1920's era? May be earlier. To cracks. Splits etc. Only flea bites as mentioned above and the curved area carved out in the outer box ... morerim. Antique Victorian Sheffield Sewing Kit Box Tools
Hello up for auction is an antique Victorian sewing kit in its original box. The kit is high quality and was made by Sheffield. Several of the instruments appear to be made from ivory but it might be bone. Either way. This kit was made before there was any ban on ivory products so owning it and shipping it is not an issue. One of the tools has been replaced over the years with a plastic piece. The tools and box are in very good condition considering their age. I would say this is a late Victorian sewing kit circa 1890's-1910's but I can not pin point the exact age with absolute certainty. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Antique Clark”s Sewing Kit Box This is a wonderful find and it is only 4 ¾ wide by 2 ½ tall by 3 ½ deep. It is a wooden box with a velvet type of covering. Please look at the antique ornate hardware! This box has a lift out kit with 6 old spools on it and a pin cushion and a thimble holder all in good condition. This also has a miniature newspaper from 1916 of the Wichita Daily News that was found underneath the lift out portion. This is just a little bonus as it is not in good condition! Up for auction is a really nice antique guilloche enamel and brass sewing kit. The orange enamel is in good condition. With minor enamel loss as shown in the photos. The kit includes the thread spool, which also serves as a needle case by removing the bottom of the spool. The thimble portion of the kit has a green top which I believe is glass. Antique or vintage brass ladies travelling sewing kit case
A vintage brass ladies sewing kit with brass thimble and wooden reel. The case measures approx. 5cm long x 1.8cm in diameter and it weighs altogether approx. 10.5gms. This is a very old& interesting 3 5/8" tall German sewing kit with what I think is a needle holder on the side. All the writing is in German& what I can translate is Mit Gött Für König- With God for King. And u. Vaterland which is Fatherland. When you unscrew the top you'll see the thread holder. It has some chips to the wood. The tailor's thimble sits on top. Take off the thimble& pull off the top of the wood piece to reveal a spot for needles. At this point I'm wondering what that metal part on the side is for. At the bottom it says"Hier langsam abschrauben" which means something like unscrew slowly here. And although I don't have a photo of that at the present time(because I just realized what it was) That bottom section does unscrew to reveal another compartment- maybe for buttons? ... moreGood condition with little marks consistent with use. HERE IS A FABULOUS COLLECTABLE THIS VICTORIAN ERA OR OLDER LITTLE SEWING KIT CHATELAINE WITH BALE. THIS HAS THE BOBBIN AND SOME THREAD STILL INSIDE THIS GREAT PIECE. THE ONE HALF IS GILDED AND THE OTHER IS A DARKER COLOUR. I BELIEVE THIS IS FROM THE 1800'S OR EARLY 1900'S. ADD THIS WONDERFUL PIECE TO YOUR COLLECTION OF CHATELAINE PIECES OR ANTIQUE SEWING COLLECTION AND THANK YOU FOR LOOKING! THIS MEASURES ABOUT 2 INCHES LONG.
