He used a combination of local clay and other elements to create high-fired pieces inspired by the Sung and Ming periods. Taylor was primarily interested in glaze effects and specialized in expertly produced variations upon four principal effects all of which had been pioneered in an earlier decade by the leaders of the French Ceramics Revolution: crystalline, flambé, luster, and souffle. Vintage Criss Cross Frame for Sampler with Porcelain Buttons
Great frame for a sampler! Measures 25 1/4" X 9 1/4" on the outside. And 21 1/4" x 5 1/4" on the inside. I'm not sure what the wood is, but it is a soft wood and I believe it may be pine stained with a walnut finish. Frame is in good shape. I believe that the white buttons are porcelain( Needs glass and a hook or two for hanging. Check out all of the pictures.

I bought two sets of these from a sutler in 1992 at the Olustee Florida reenactment. The pair I wear are holding up so well that I don't really need this unused pair. These have elastic woven into the cotton canvas and in my opinion are a little more comfortable than the ones without elastic. Comes with two sets of buttons. One plastic set and one full set of 5/8 inch porcelain buttons that I eyeballed while relic hunting here at the Kennesaw mountain battlefield. The suspender straps measure 1.25 inches wide. VINTAGE VICTORIAN WOODEN WALL LETTER HOLDER PORCELAIN BUTTONS MAIL OR PAPERS
Hi. This is a vintage letter holder with porcelain buttons that measures 9 1/2" tall 8" wide and about 3" in depth. I believe the back has been replaced with new wood and then restained. The buttons have stain on them and some of the slats have damage. The bottom one has a split all the way across and a ragged edge, the ones on the ends also have ragged edges. Antique Dark Walnut Criss Cross Frame W/ Porcelain Buttons & Rooster Silhouette
Description This antique dark walnut criss cross picture frame measures 16" long. 14" wide and holds a 10" long, 8" wide picture. The frame has crosses at each corner decorated with white porcelain and brass tacks or buttons. There is a liner of gilded gesso around the picture. The frame is holding a black cut out silhouette of a rooster against a tan background. The frame has a replaced wood backing and also has glass over the silhouette which is probably not original to the frame. The piece is in very nice condition with no major losses on the wood and no damage to the porcelain buttons. The gilding has dark spots but is original. The silhouette has no discoloring or other issues. The glass and backing are fine. There are a few small nicks in the wood. Neat old piece. 13 Antique Hand Painted Flower Buttons on Porcelain or Ceramic.
We have inherited a button collection from Minnesota. There are over 83.000 buttons. They were started by a woman in 1867, who, as a child, began her first charm string. We understand she was 7 years old when the collection was begun. Her name was Mrs. Underleak. She exhibited her collection at the Minnesota State Fair in 1939. At that time, she had over 13,000 buttons. She and her daughter determined to have the largest collection in Minnesota, and it appears, they kicked it into full gear in the 1940's because many of the cards of buttons are dated during that decade. We are not sure when Mrs. Underleak died but her daughter died in the early 1970's and our mother purchased the whole collection as part of the daughter's estate. It is very possible that our mother added more buttons to it, but, when our mother counted the collection ... morein around 1999, she came up with the total of 83,000 buttons. We have now inherited it, and are beginning to sell it. We are not sure whether it ever was the largest collection in Minnesota. But there are several newspaper articles, with pictures, that show Mrs. Underleak surrounded by her buttons in 1939. She was in the St. Paul Paper and the Pine River Journal. We have no experience with buttons, other than using them, so we are trying to learn about them as quickly as we can. We would love to hear from you experts when we mis-categorize something. We will make every attempt to photograph our listings well, so you can determine what the buttons are, even if we can't tell you. Vintage Satsuma porcelain buttons, set of 5
5 matching vintage porcelain Satsuma Japanese buttons. All have the same enameled design in green with gold outlining and the outer rim also is gold. They measure about 3/4" in diameter and have the pass through type hole in the back to attach them to fabric. These are quite old- perhaps 1920's? and are in good vintage condition though all of the buttons have crazing.
