ANTIQUE WOODEN BOX, CLARK'S MILE END SPOOL BOX, WOODEN SPOOL THREAD SEWING BOX
This is a nice little box I found among some estate items. It measures 4" long. 3" deep, and 2 3/8" high. All wooden, dove tail corners.On the inside of the top is a little girl holding what looks like a tambourine. On the inside of the bottom is the Clark's label. Clark's Mile End Spool Cotton" Now for the problems with it. The front latch is broken off. Also one of the hinges has lost it's pin, and someone has stuck a strait pin into it as a repair. The repair doesn't totally work, as the box doesn't close all the way. Hopefully you can see it in the picture. I would think if someone were handy, the hinge could be fixed, but I don't know that for sure.The other hinge has had different nails put in at some time. Antique Early Sewing Box For Thread Ivory Inserts Shaker Style Mahognay
This little sewing implement box with the drawer 7 spools of thread with 6 ivory inserts for the thread to come though for easy dispensing of thread which was valued in the 1800's much more than it is today. This dates from the 1800's. It measures 7" X 7" X 5" And is in good shape for it's age. There is some scuffing throughout the finish with a finial missing from the top and a portion of the drawer handle. Please refer to the photos, the drawer comes empty. Vintage WOVEN SEWING BASKET w/BEADED and DECORATED LID This lovely SEWING BASKET looks to be made of SPLIT BAMBOO and had a great deep patina. The TOP of the basket is DECORATED with BEADING; a turquoise RING for lifting the lid off and a very finely braided roping tied to an old Chinese coin that could be used to remove top. Too; and a pair of long tassels. The basket is in excellent condition. It came out of an estate of a world traveler who probably brought it back from China. This is a wonderful old sewing basket.I believe it is oak.But I'm not a expert on wood.The metal I see looks to me like copper.The 2 minor flaws are one at the handle at a curve a bit of wood has split,however it doesn't even go half way through and it is about 1/8"On the inside near a corner a piece is also split a bit,again not clear through.Basket measures 9 1/2" X almost 6" and 2 1/4" tall.Handles stand about 2 1/2" above the basket.Please feel free to ask questions.Thanks Carol

Measuring approximately 3 1/4" across(at widest point) By 3 1/4" long( measuring lid length top to bottom) is this Antique Victorian hinged,lidded,handwoven, lined, sewing basket. This little basket is"heart" shaped and is perfect sized for holding small sewing items such as pins, needles, thimbles, ect. It has a very unusual, possible corn husk, or even some type of grass) ribbon that has been weaved around the basket. I do not know if this is some type of American Indian basket, or not. I am selling it"as-is" It is in good shape, conducive with its age, and use. There are small holes in the old material that is consistent with age. Available for purchase is this pair of vintage woven reed sewing baskets and twelve wooden thread spools. Some bow tie and some with thread remaining on them. The larger basket with the spools in it is 6 3/4" in diameter x 2" tall and the darker basket with the f aux tortoiseshell ring is 5 1/2" in diameter x 2" tall with the ring. The ring tested negative for Bakelite. Both baskets are in mint vintage condition with wonderful coloration and no broken bits. The spools are a mixture of J. P. Coats(3) Coats& Clark's(7) and one with the label missing on the one end. The spools are in very good shape with most of the labels intact. The largest spool which is black button and carpet thread is 1 1/2" tall x 1 1/8" in diameter and the smallest spools are 1 1/8" x 3/4" A very sweet lot for the sewing ... morelover. Antique Sewing Basket with Contents Offering this vintage sewing basket- appears to me to be from the Victorian Era. But I am not an expert, so am not sure. The basket is lined with a faded red satin material. The basket does have some damage to the mostly on the bottom. The lid is attached with cord and there are cords that hold it in open position. Contents include a Stanhome book of needles- some are missing. This is a Stanley Home products needle book with a pink rose on the front and back. Also. There are cards with buttons, cards with snaps, a paper tape measure, a couple pieces of lace, a wide brown binding. Also, there is a jar full of thread on wooden spools. A small heart shaped chalkware wall hanger with ribbon. Lastly. There is an air-spun face powder box full of old buttons! The basket measures about 9 inches in diameter 5 inches ... moredeep. Vintage Sewing Casket To Hold Sewing Implements Of The Victorian Era Or Earlier
Here is a great sewing casket that once held a variety of sewing implements. I believe this box to be from the Victorian Era or earlier. It is made out of pressed cardboard and a white metal. It is missing its implements but you can replace them and have a great item for your collection. It measures 3 1/4 inches high. 3 3/4 inches wide and about 2 1/2 inches deep. The clasp is in good working order. The box is dark brown on the out side with metal and metal studs as decorations. The top has a metal oval waiting for someone's initial. The decorations repeat on all sides of the box. The bottom of the box is plain cardboard. Box shows some light scuff marks the metal shows some rust. The interior is purple velveted cardboard. I am selling my complete collection of antique Chinese wicker sewing baskets(12 baskets) with glass beads. Silk tassels, glass rings and Chinese coins. Also included are 4 Chinese wicker potpourri holders with beads, tassels and coins as well as a grouping of loose beads(35) glass rings(5) and coins(4) The condition of the baskets range from near perfect(2) to well-used and a few have had beads reattached. The baskets range in size from 6" to 12" wide and from 2 1/2" to 13" high(includes handle) One of the potpourri holders has been modified with the addition of a silk cloth to make it a bag and the silk has a hole in it. 1889 Singer Sewing Oak Dovetailed Puzzle Box, NO Attachments: UNIQUE, CLEVER
I bought this box at a flea market when I was a teenager. Always thought it was so clever; never knew what it was for until recently. I used to keep my camera and accessories in it. The box is 3-3/8" x 6-1/2" when closed. And 6-1/2" x 12-1/4" when opened out. The wood is oak. The inside lining is in good shape for its age, but you can tell that little screws have been removed from the inside(probably held little metal clips or part holders) There were never any sewing machine accessories in it, which is why I never knew what it was for! The patent stamp on the top is almost unreadable. I tried to take the best photos possible so you can see the condition. Please examine photos closely. And contact me with questions. This is a beautiful wicker sewing box[musical] just in time for Mother's Day. The condition is very good. I can't see a thing wrong with it. It measures app. 10 1/2 by 8 by 8 inches. The inside is red satin and has a pocket on each side. The outside has a handle on each side. The tune is pretty but I don't know the name of tune. There is a label on the bottom that has the number 46566/a and a capital R. There was a note inside saying my Great. Great Aunt received it from her husband on Oct. 12, 1950. This old basket was purchased at another estate sale. It is still filled with all the threads and embroidery in progress. I have no idea where this basket was made. There is a mark on the bottom which I have enlarged and show on the last photo. The only flaw I find is shown in photo# four. It seems the reed has shrunk from age and no longer fits under the piece that holds it. This happens as they get old and dry. This is an eleven inch round basket. It is 5" tall.

Vintage Antique Hand Made Primitive Sewing Thread Spool Holder Box
This auction is for a vintage hand made primitive wooden sewing thread box. It's 11 inches long. 7 inches wide, and 3 1/2 inches high with a hinged lid. It's painted a dark red/maroon color with a decal of a yellow rose on the lid. Inside there are 20 spikes which are actually nails, to hold spools of thread. The auction includes the 8 wooden spools of thread that you see in the box. Please email any questions but try not to wait until the last day of the auction. LOVELY ANTIQUE ROSEWOOD SEWING BOX CIRCA 1800'S
This is a no-reserve auction for a very old sewing box. I purchased it many years ago and at that time was told that it was from the mid 1800's. It is made of rosewood and. As you can see, has really great architecture. The turned wood is beautiful as are the simple, yet elegant details. The pin cushion on the top is hardened and no longer covered with a nice piece of cloth. Also, as you can see in the pictures, there are cracks and chips; however, the piece does hold together and closes tightly- you have to be careful that the clasp matches up. There is no key. First basket is natural in color and is the heaviest and largest. It measures 10.5" across and 2.5" tall. It is made of pine needles with a woven inside layer. The woven inside layer has a few broken pieces under the rim but in overall great condition. At some time in its life. Someone hand painted a rose on the top. It is quite faded right now but you can still see it. Second basket is painted black with painted decoration on top. The inside is quite dark natural pine needles and does not have a liner. It measures 8.5" across and 3" tall. It is lighter in weight because it does not have the liner. Third basket is natural also but made of the dark pine ... moreneedles. It has a Asian feel to it. This is a beautiful Victorian workbox that has been beautifully restored. The bottom half of the box has the original blue velvet. THe fabric on top and in the interior lid looks new to me. Antique 19th Century Velvet Cobalt Blue Draw Purse Fantastic Needlework Museum
A museum quality. Antique, four paneled, cobalt blue, velvet purse with floral needlework and drawstring, with monogram and order. 10 PHOTOS) The purse, 7" high by 7" at the widest point, is a wonderful example of workmanship from the Mid 19th Century. And possibly earlier. The condition is very good for any age.it was in a trunk and lovingly cared for. It consists of four panels of needlework on a cobalt, blue field, with woven, gold-colored thread on the seams as well as the tassel on the bottom. One panel is decorated with the monogram, WRR" with floral surround.the opposite panel has a symbol, IOX" intertwined with the I splitting the O and the X splitting both(I'm assuming that this might be an order that the lady was involved with)the other two panels have the same detailed, floral pattern. The opening is edged ... morewith a burgandy silk and the interior has the same.if there is any wear on the purse it would be at the opening, but very little.I want to mention it and you can examine the photos for any question. I've had several good purses over my 44 year antique career, but this was my favorite and the only reason we're selling it that we don't have the big house anymore that we feature some wonderful smalls. Antique Sewing Box, Victorian, Satin Lined, Canted Dovetailed Corners '20s-'40s
This little Victorian sewing box came from the estate of a lady whose belongings went back to the late 1800s. Her things were well cared for but I think this box probably had a lot of use during the early to mid 1900s and. Since she did a lot of needlework and sewing, probably moved on to something larger and more modern in later years. This box seems to have suffered from neglect in addition to a lot of use. The woman who sold it to me told me it dated to the 1920s but I think it looks more like a 1940s design. It is nicely made with four little feet that still have traces of green felt. Double lids, dovetailed corners; and is lined in cream colored satin with an attached pin cushion and a long elasticized pocket. The lining is becoming unglued, is badly stained and torn. If the box is to be used for its intended purpose the lining will ... moreneed to be replaced. The exterior has a lot of scratching and dings. The only actual damage is the loss of one small piece of wood on the underside of the outside edge of one of the lids as can be seen in the eighth photo. This flaw is not visible when the box is upright. The top measures 9-1/2" X 12" and is 5" deep. The bottom is about 7-3/8" X 9-1/4" Refinished and relined this will be a real beauty. Left as it is. It's darn cute! This is an estate piece. With flaws, and is being sold as is. I cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors: smoking, fragrance, cooking, mustiness, mothballs, other types of storage odors or pets. To avoid the expense of shipping. There is a small white mark on egg which I tried to show in photos. I have not tried to remove it. I believe it is Corozo Wood but I can not be certain. Case is in good vintage condition. The wood sewing box is 14 inches long. 9 ½ inches wide, 7 ½ inches tall, and weighs 3 pounds and 5 ounces. We are soliciting bids and also information about this wood box.
