This is a very nice antique nut/wooden sewing egg. It has a great patina all over with threaded barrel. Hand carved. Maybe Coquilla nut or burl wood not exactly sure. I believe it was used for holding needles, thimbles etc. I believe the age to be early 1900's, It's an exquisite piece! It measures 2 3/8" tall. 1 1/2" wide. Thanks for looking!

Unusual Large Antique Wicker Sewing Basket
LARGE ANTIQUE WICKER SEWING BASKET I have seen smaller examples of this old wicker sewing basket. But this one is much larger. It is circular and has a diameter of about 12” and is about 4 ½” tall. It is dark brown in color and while I believe this type of basket had a tassel on the top. It is not here. However. The two Chinese-looking coins with a square cut-out in the center which usually anchored the tassel are here. The bottom of the basket is in very good condition. The side of the lid has split about ½ of the way around. The lid top still looks good and once positioned on the bottom the split is only slightly noticeable. It was originally for Black Sewing thread. It is about 3 and 1/4th inches high. 4 and 1/2 inches from the front to the back and 7 and 1/2 inches wide. Antique Shaker wooden sewing box with pincushion top & 5 spools thread
Up for auction is a really neat wooden sewing box. Was purchased from an antique store in Old Town Alexandria. The shop owner said it was Shaker design. From the Lancaster PA area. It is from a Silver Spring, MD estate. The box has the original untouched finish. There is painted decoration on the drawers and top. The top portion with the pincushion pulls off to reveal 5 spools of thread. Only one spool still has thread on it. The spools are varnished and are marked FAIRLOOM 100 YDS HERO BOIL 50 PROOF on one end and FAIRLOOM SOLD ONLY BY SEARS ROEBUCK& CO. on the other end. The pincushion lid has two splits in the wood from years of taking it off and putting it back on. One corner of the top of the base has a chip. Other than that this sewing box is in very good condition with the usual signs of wear for a sewing box, with scuffs and a ... morecrazed finish. The pincushion is brown velvet. Beautiful rare English sewing Box with the very rare large pin cushioned top.from friends home.Was her English great grandmothers.Non-smoker. this is over 100 years old.So a few minimal nicks here and there,but overall very good condition for its age.nice to have the original mirror unbroken. 11' x 11' And 8' tall. Top fits nicely into base.But alas no key,nice motif surround key entry. All tops.Very nice show a little aging but all there.some of the inlay has some aging issues,but very presentable.please see pics. Cushion has a couple of stains but this is turn of the century and is original.No tears,or damage to pin cushion.but it shows age,with some wirn spots,wear,and nicks etc. The 2 smaller compartments have 1 each corner support missing.But lids still sit on top,we will leave that up to the new owner,if you want to try ... moreand find. 3 are there,they are just tiny supports that fit in the corner to hold up lid. Victorian Eastlake Walnut Milk Glass Folk Art Primitive Antique Sewing Box
This sort of slatting was common to make fragile little wall hangers to hold dried flowers or scarves. In the 1880s as part of the structured Eastlake/ Aesthetic movements. In twenty years, I have never seen a piece of furniture constructed the same. Solid legs(capped with a pretty little finial) with basket made of walnut slats studded with glass. Stands 27” high, 12” square. Most likely a sewing basket for unfinished pieces of embroidery, lace or ribbon. I can’t imagine that it would withstand much more weight than that. Unbelievable that its survived. Fragile piece, I’d prefer pick up but would arrange to ship if necessary. There is a slight slant to the basket and a few chips, beautiful condition. For your consideration is this English made antique sewing set. Circa 1890. It is housed in a very unique clam shell shaped case. The case is covered in green velvet with a green velvet and satin lined interior. This sewing kit includes the following carved ox bone tools; a buttonhook, a stiletto, and 2 crochet hooks. It also contains 2 bodkins, a brass thimble, and a set of beautiful scissors, a telescoping pencil and 3 packets of Crystal sharps. Condition: Good. Velvet is faded and worn. Commensurate with age and use. The metal of the scissors, stiletto, and button hook have some rust. The latch is missing. Please examine photos. Offered for your consideration is a beautiful old sewing box or cabinet. Height is 25.5" includes handle) 13.75" wide, 12.5" front to back. There are two cabinet doors that open outward, and each bears a long wooden spindle held between two spacers. I'm not sure what the intended use was for these pieces, perhaps to hold spools of thread, as they are designed to release from the spacers. There is a center wooden well that runs the length of the cabinet, to hold needles, and scissors, etc. The interior is quite roomy, and could store the fabric or garment being worked on until completion. This item is in good vintage condition. This lovely old thing is an antique. And as such, bears some scars from years of use. It is sound and sturdy. There is one knob missing on one of the doors and scratches and dings and scrapes and ... morebumps, acquired throughout the years. There is also a very light 3” water ring on one of the cabinet doors. The steamed or bentwood bottom is still in good shape, with some ridges but no splits. Please examine pictures carefully. C. Tollner O.N.T. Wooden Sewing Box with Marked Tray
Antique C. Tollner Lithographed Sewing Box with Marked Removable Tray. The bottom of the tray is marked Pat. Jun.1. 80. The cover has a lithograph of a child reading a book to a dog. Years ago the inside and tray was painted red. You can make out O.N.T. under the paint. The front hinge works perfectly and appears to be made from brass and original to the box and is marked O.N.T. in the middle. The back hinges appear to have through the years had the brads replaced with small nails. The ribbon lid saver is attached on just the top end. The bottom of the box had blue paper at one time and has remnants of the blue. Measures 4.75 inches W x 3.35 inches H x 2.5 inches D. The tray is removed by a little brass nail in the middle of it. This black lacquered basket's decorations feature hand-painted white iris in a pond. The basket's exterior is constructed of woven grass reeds. The interior is lined with a woven wood. The basket and lid are encircled with bamboo strips painted gold. The handle and structural elements are made of bamboo. The handle is painted dark green with dark red accents. The basket shows normal wear from years of use with only one flaw. A broken grass reed near the lip of the lid. 1860 Shaker 2-Tier Sewing Box Ivory Detail
Please read terms of sale. This is a nice example of a mid-19th century Shaker sewing box probably walnut with poplar for secondary woods and ivory details for thread holes. It is approximately 7" tall to the top of the pin cushion stand and about 7" wide from the widest level at the bottom. The box is two-iered with what I understand to be ivory details for the thread holes. There are four holes on the front and two holes on each side. None on the back. there are eight pins for thread spools inside. The small drawer is for notions. Structurally the box is very good. The finish is worn in some areas- please examine photos carefully. The major issue with the box is the pin cushion holder- both the top layer and the bottom layer have breaks which are shown the the picture. If you replace the pin cushion top this would be less noticeable. ... moreDespite this it is aesthetically very good. With wear consistent with age and use. Note that there is a name and some writing on the back of the top piece- however I have had some difficulty seeing exactly what it says however I assume it is the name of either the maker or the owner. The oval shaped box had all sewing stuff in it. Here is what I think is so special about this box. I cannot tell exactly how it was constructed. I will take plenty of pictures for you to come to your own conclusion. But I think the middle and the top is one piece which was bent at the four corners so there are no seams. Two very old antique Chinese sewing baskets with lids. Dusty but in excellent condition, with no breaks to the weaving, although the reeds have come loose on the foot of the smaller basket. The smaller one is embellished with an old rose colored tassel, 7 very old glass beads, two old Chinese coins and a mottled rose colored ring. The ring is beveled or chiseled, and looks to be of stone, not glass. This basket measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter; the larger one being 7 1/2 inches across. The larger basket is in solid condition, and has no adornment. I will be listing other old Chinese sewing baskets this week also, take a look!

There are prongs on the interior to hold spools of thread and you can pull the thread out the holes to take as much as you want. The small holes on the side are lined with brass ferrules to protect the thread from catching on the wood and breaking and it gives a nice neat appearance. Up for auction a very old sewing basket that features antique Chinese coins. Glass beads, and tassels that feel like old cotton, and a large glass handle. The basket is very old but it still has it's original store tag, it sold for 50 cents back in the day. The basket measures 11 inches across the top, and roughly 3 inches tall. I can find very little wrong with the basket, the cotton tassels look a bit thin like some have been remove or something, I had problems with the lighting when I took the pictures, the basket color and the glass handle colors do not look like the real basket, the basket is brown woven material and the glass handle is more of a turquoise blue than a bright blue, the basket is dusty and needs to be cleaned up a bit, but overall it is a lovely old thing. Antique 3 Tiered Pincushion /Thimble/ Thread Spool / Small Sewing Tool Holder
This listing is for an antique 3 tier pincushion/thread spool/scissors/ thimble and other small sewing tool holder. I believe the material is stamped tin and it has a nice funky patina to it with a slightly rusty finish that adds to its antique look and charm. It stands 5" tall to the top of the cushion and 3 7/8" across in diameter at the base. The cushion itself is original and made of a tan wide whale corduroy that is in fair shape with just a tad of splitting on a line. See pictures. Still serviceable if you intend to use it. And fine to use it as is for display. The lower ring can hold 8 thimbles and 8 spools of thread. The interior divided tray is removable. Three of the compartments have lids. 2 with mother of pearl buttons. The lid interior has a decorative border which holds a purple satin panel in place on the front of a storage compartment. The box itself appears to be Rosewood, but I'm not positive. The tray is made of paper covered wood and cardboard. The bottom of the box has more storage and is covered in white paper. The box is well worn. There are ... moresmall missing sections of laminate on the exterior corners and one longer section is missing on the lid. The bottom has a crack. The keyhole escutcheon is missing. There are tears in the paper that holds the lid's storage panel in place. But it does function properly. One section of the divider tray is damaged. There is wear on the purple satin fabric that covers the interior sections. Please refer to the pictures and be sure to ask questions if you have any. All in all the box is in good condition for its age. It most likely dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It appears structurally sound if you'd like to restore it. 19th Century French Sewing Box and Silver Tools
This little sewing box measures 7 ½” X 5 ¼” X 2 ¾” and the outside of the box is in very good condition for its age. All four brass feet and the brass knob on top are present but the little metal piece that covers the key hole is missing. As is the key. There is also a pretty inlayed wood design on the box lid, which is in very good condition. The inside of the lid has a slightly padded cream moire lining with a red and cream chenille trim. There is a small stain on the lining. But no tears. The upper tray is covered with faded rose velvet, with a pincushion, a section with insets to hold the needlework sewing box’s tools, and another section that I believe would have held rings. When the tray is lifted. The remainder of the box’s inside is also a cream color. The tools include scissors. A needle case, thimble, mother of pearl ... morethread winder, and a tiny mother of pearl bodkin. Unfortunately, the stiletto is missing. The scissors are sharp and cut well and the thimble has definitely been used as it has several little dents. 19th Century Sewing Box Brass hardware with Tools and pin cushions
I have an Antique 19th Century Sewing Box with Brass hinge and hardware with Tools and pin cushions which are original with the box. It measures 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 5" tall in beautiful condition. This piece was my Great Great Grandmothers which is how I know the date. It was a gift to her and has the writing on the back that shows who gave it to her on Christmas in 1899. It's made of cardboard covered in decorative paper on the sides and plastic with a beautiful Angel baby inlay on top. The hinge and latch are brass and fully functional. It comes with some pins and pin cushions one of which is a strawberry and the other I don't know what it is. Also a antique hand made floral pin cushion and crochet hook and belt buckles and 2 pieces of hard wax. Any questions please ask and thanks for looking.
