On boats less than 12 meters(39.4 feet) in length, the masthead light may be off the fore-and-aft centerline, but must be as close to it as possible. General Electric architectural skyscraper. Building, copper flood light. Model 2AL. The brackets are marked General Electric Made In U.S.A. Model 2AL and has some other numbers and Pat. Number. It has a front glass 15-3/4" in diameter. The glass is marked in the center with GE some numbers that look like KG1 and Front Glass 15-3/4"D Made in U.S.A. It is approx. 22" high with the bracket. It is wired for 220 but it has not been tested. It is in very nice condition. No dents, there are a couple of cracks on the inside lens, the front glass is good, no chips or cracks. This is a beautiful copper and brass kerosine anchor light with a nice aged patina. It is in is in excellent condition. There are no dents. Cracks or missing parts. All parts are made with heavy gauge copper and brass. The lens is thick heavy glass. You can see some small air bubbles inside the glass) This is truly a quality lamp that will last for many years. My father and I used this lamp on our many sailing trips on the Great Lakes and inland lakes in Minnesota. The dimensions are 10 and 1/2 inches high by 5 and 1/2 inches in diameter. This auction is for a rare nautical oil lantern or lamp form the mid to late 1800's. These lanterns were used on smaller vessels such as lighthouse service launches. Fishing boats, etc. It has 3 bullseye lens. Red, green, and clear. The lantern is made of galvanized tin. The round top is brass. The lantern is complete with the original font burner. There is a handle and a mounting bracket on the back. The wire door latch mechanism works well. The lantern is 8 1/4 inches in height.The lantern is in all original as found, uncleaned condition with great patina. No holes. Just a few minor rust spots but no pitting. Rare Antique Helvig kerosene ship's compass binnacle lantern circa 1880
Plate on back of this brass lantern reads: H.A.J. Helvig& Co. Manufacturers New York" It is 8" H& 3 1/2 W across front. Helvig did a great business. With lanterns, in 1800's but finding a similar lantern is rare. Some years ago, I found one that was referred to as a Whale oil lantern w/handles for carrying, 1845. Value placed on it was 2,500. Then I placed a note inside the lantern w/that info, but today I can't remember if it was just the same, though today I think that year may have been earlier than when my family sailed. I believe that it was used in about mid to late 1800's. I have used as a decoration for at least 50 years. Nothing has been added to it, so I believe it is all original, but not sure if it had been done before I inherited it in 1962. The glass globe is pretty shinny, so maybe not original, ... morealso has an unused wick. I occasionally, through the year, gave it a slight polish to highlight the brass luster, but untouched for past 20 years. The back of the top part(neck) has some brass missing from it's thin collar. Visible on 2nd picture. The top round has some old dings, the name plaque has lifted. Basically, there are some dings and nicks overall, but nothing major for a working tool. Antique RARE Large LIGHTHOUSE Oil Measure Oiler 1800's Copper Pre Civil War
I recently purchased a large collection of nautical items. This is part of that collection. From my research I believe it is a lighthouse oil can but I am not 100% sure. There are no marking on it but from the way it is made I know it is an early piece. It was handmade with a sandcast handle. The rivets to attach the handle are very early. The piece stands 16" tall and is 12 1/2" wide at the base. It is a very impressive piece. If you have any additional information about it fell free to send me an email. VERY RARE ANTIQUE JAPANESE NIPPON SENTO NAUTICAL SHIP BRASS LANTERN SIGNAL LAMP
For sale is an Antique Japanese Nippon Sento Co. Ltd. Ships Brass Oil Signal Lamp Lantern. This is a very rare lantern I have never seen another one like it listed on Ebay. The lamp is in excellent condition as evident by the photos. It has a very nice patina on the outside and looks great as is. Or can easily be polished for a brilliant shine. The lamp has a wooden handle, and on the left side of the lamp is a thumb toggle switch that opens and closes an aperture behind the lens that allows the light to have the appearance of turning on and off. I'm no expert, but I believe the lamp was designed for semaphore which is a method of using light to visually communicate with another ship, or from ship to shore, and vice a versa. The toggle switch works smoothly, and the door opens and closes freely. Please closely review all of the photos ... morefor the material condition of the lamp. The lamp has the original oil/kerosene pot, but it is missing the glass chimney and possibly a reflector that may have fit in the small rectangular slot at the end of the pot. A replacement glass chimney can be easily found online. The lantern measures approximately 20" inches from the top of the handle to the base, and it is approximately 10 1/2" inches wide. If you are a serious collector you do not want to miss the opportunity to own this lantern you may never see another one like it on Ebay. Rare 1920's original 8" fog bell lamp marked on inside of bell. PERKO, Perkins M.S. Co. Bklyn, N.Y. 07-61" Since I couldn't find a similar Perko fog-bell-lamp form anywhere, I contacted the Perko Marine Lamp Corp in Miami Florida with photos of the lamp. They said that this was originally manufactured by Perkins in this lamp-form and that it is not a custom piece made outside the factory by an individual. In their library they found only a 1920 and a 1932 catalog. In the 1920 catalog, they found a lamp that had similar fittings. I believe the markings inside the bell date this lamp to sometime between 1922 when the"PERKO" trademark was created and 1932 when the company name was changed to Perko Marine Lamp and Hardware Corp. It has a well-aged patina. Height from bottom of base to top of eagle finial is 20" ... moreDiameter of bell is 8" Bell has a wonderful resonant. Distinctive fog bell sound. Lamp is in good working order. Not sure if the wiring has been changed at all- the electrical plug is the old-style with prongs of even width. ANTIQUE Stag Horn Gimbaled Handle Ship Oil Lamp This auction is for a Very Rare Hallmarked Antique Stag Horn Gimbaled Ship Oil Lamp. This little old lamp. Gimbaled to balance on a ship, is in great antique condition with some patina. It stands approximately 3 ¾” high and is approximately 9” to the end of the horn. The hallmark appears on the gimbaled portion of the handle. It takes a 3/16” round wick(not included) The base of the lamp appears to be brass, the flame cap copper and we are unsure of the metal in the wick holder. The glass is melon shaped and very heavy. This lamp is in excellent antique condition. eather studied at Oris/Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles before travaeling to France in the early 1990’s. Antique Perkins Marine Lamp Great Nautical Lantern Red Globe Copper Rare! Look!
Offered with no reserve. A rare Perkins Marine Lamp. This is made by the Perkins Marine Lamp and Hardware Company of Brooklyn New York. Has a small brass ID tag just under the toggle switch. See picture#3. The lamp stands 15" tall and is 7" in diameter at the base. Copper construction. Features 2 tie down hooks at the base. Also has hook on the top cover. There are several metal"arms" that protect the globe. One of these is missing the top screw. See second to last picture. This is a dry cell battery operated lamp. It appears the necessary wires are in place. See pics#6.7,8, cannot guarantee the lamp will light and it was not tested) There is a on/off toggle switch just above the ID tag that has a screw on"cover nut" attached to a chain. See pics#3 and 4. My father purchased this ship lantern in 1964 at moss point Mississippi.It came from one of the ships in the National Defense Reserve(Ghost Fleet) that was anchored in Blakeley River. AL. It's in good shape with a few signs of age and wear. The glass does have a small ship in it. Its condition is further detailed in the photographs. This is a great antique nautical find This is a ships table lamp light. Keyhole on bottom attaches it to table or wall to hold secure and yet can be removed. I was told that it is extremely rare to see a 7" lantern lamp piece designed as an electric table lamp. The lantern is signed and numbered"kingedwheel" No. 350.made in japan. see pix The condition is excellent for its age. With the only noticable wear being on the brass pole above wooden ball. large rare antique handmade Folk Art electric lighthouse nautical table lamp
This is a very rare large antique handmade wood and meta nautical light house electric table lamp. it is a lovely piece of nautical Folk Art and completely crafted and painted by hand. the actual lighthouse is made from metal and riveted together. the top watch tower is made from several detailed pieces of wood and has a handmade metal fence wrapping the edge. it has a clear glass shade with a carved wood and bronze finial. the bottom structure is made from wood with metal accents. it also has a light inside and both are operated from a switch in the back. the door opens and closes on hinges and is very well made. it is mounted to a rectangular wooden base. it measures 28 inches tall 18 inches long by10 1/4 inches wide. it's overall in nice condition and displays very well. it has normal ware from age and some paint loss on the bottom ... moreof the lighthouse cylinder. there is also a couple window panels missing on this structure. the lights both work wonderfully and is a great piece of nautical Folk Art. When Smith purchased 6,000 velocipedes{ a mid-19th century bicycle} on company credit, Dietz decided he was a bad business partner and bought Smith's interest. He continued to run the company as R.E. Dietz. In 1897, a devastating fire destroyed the R.E. Dietz factory in New York City. To avoid going out of business, R.E. Dietz merged with the Steam Gauge and Lantern Company of Syracuse, New York, and eventually moved the company's manufacturing center to that city. THE DIETZ CONVEX LANTERN: This is a great antique lantern of large size. It measures 20" high to the top of the ring holder. The clear blown glass globe is 9" in diameter. The protective cage around the globe is 11 1/2" in diameter. The lantern weighs 6.3 pounds. It has a great old antique red paint patina that was applied over the base tin metal. The burner slides out through the bottom of the base. CONDITION: The lamp is in good antique condition. There are use and age marks. Including paint loss in several areas. Antique Vintage Ship Cabin Tabletop Lamp With Bell Rare Nice Works
This is a genuine old nautical tabletop bell lamp that was designed not to turnover in rough seas. It also has a working bell at the top. I suppose the bell would ring as the seas became rough enough to rock the lamp around. Thus waking the sleeping occupant of the cabin and alerting them to the conditions(just a guess on my part) Either way. This is one cool and rare old lamp! It appears to be in original condition. The cord is old and frayed and probably should be changed. But I did not want to alter the originality. The lamp does work. As you can see in the photos. It has a switch on one side. Frosted glass shade and a bell on the top. You can't knock this thing over! It just rolls until it comes back to its upright position. Please review the detailed listing photos.
