It is rather large, and I believe it is made out of copper and brass, based on the way it has tarnished, but I am unsure. The burner itself, and the glass pieces appear to be in good shape, but the exterior needs to be refinished or polished. This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. Early. Copper& Brass Starboard Side Ships Lamp. This antique lamp was found at an estate sale in Henderson. NY on the eastern shore area of lake Ontario. The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. Pair Vintage Copper Brass NEPTUNE NR Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical Maritime Cage NR
This auction is for a pair of vintage NEPTUNE NR copper and brass ship oil lamp lanterns. These lamps are in EXCELLENT estate found condition with a stunning and even patina. They are beautifully crafted from copper and brass and secured with a chain and hook in the front. These lanterns both have a badge at the top with the Neptune hallmark and NR. All of the glass is in beautiful condition(with the exception of some dust from being displayed) The globe inside is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The oil lamp inside is secured to a metal wire that stays in place by sliding down two opposing corners inside. And sits very securely inside with no wobble. I do not know the age of the lanterns, and have seen only a few similar, but most of then have all brass cages(die to the reddish tint I do believe this is mostly copper) ... moreor have been polished. None have been found also with this exact badge in the same place and this stunning copper patina with the reddish copper undertones that almost glow through. This has not been cleaned or polished, but I'm sure would polish up nicely if the buyer wishes to do so. Each lantern stands 15"high without handle, and 17 1/2" tall with handle, by approx 7"wide. This is a beautiful lantern from the HMS Leith. Which had a long history of service, including D-Day, and can be read about in this link) The lantern bears the brass name plate of the ship and the lantern maker- M.P. Galloway Limited Manufacturers. It also has a brass plate with the Galloway crest and the number 236. Which I assume identifies the type of lantern or some type of lot number. A third identifies it as a lantern used for"SHIP NOT UNDER COMMAND. The lantern is 21"tall(26" with the handle) and 13.25" wide with the side rings. As you can see from the pictures. The lantern still works, and I included angles that show the broken glass, plus the other side where the broken glass is not noticeable. If you were to use this for lighting, you would probably set aside the red insert to enjoy the warm glow through the ... moreclear, thick outer glass. I can picture this lantern on a covered porch, hanging from a beam in a timber frame home, or being used as a showpiece in a nautical themed setting. Antique MARITIME NAUTICAL SHIP LANTERN Red Glass Copper & Brass
Up for bids is a great marine piece- an antique ship lantern. This nautical lantern is made of brass and copper metals and a beautiful piece of red onion glass. It has a sloped top which keeps water and rain from the inside of it. The red onion glass is encompassed by protective brass pieces which prevent it from being damaged when it swings. This lantern also has both the top pivoting brass hanger. AND the bottom one. I see very few of these lanterns that were made with these, and if so they no longer have the bottom one. At some point someone has removed the kerosene drum/holder and started the process of making this electrical. I have not attempted to complete this. It is fitted with a very simple bulb holder and a turning switch which still turns and clicks. This has in no means detracted from the beauty of this lantern and will make ... moreit simpler to electrify if someone chooses to do so. This lantern is in fantastic vintage condition. It has wear associated and common with its age but overall really nice! If someone chooses to polish this it will shine like new. The glass is in very good condition. It has some wear marks. Rough spots, or minor chipping on the rims/edges but no breaks. The wear is only from where it is fitted into the copper ends. These marks are not seen or noticable when the lantern is put together. The glass itself has some air bubbles but only visible upon close examination. The sloped top has several small dents in it. The two copper caps look very good and I do not see any dents or tears in them. The brass hangers and glass protectors have only age patina to them but otherwise perfect. The measurements of this lantern is 25 1/2" when hanging from the top of the hanging attachment to the tip of the bottom attachment. The glass is approx. 6 1/2" high by 8 1/2" around. I've taken this apart to show the insides of the pieces and the area where the electrical work was started. Also. When I ship it will come separated like this. Very, very simple to put together and take apart

Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. This is a really unique Antique Neptune Kerosene oil lamp. Is little different from the ones I have searched& It seems to be in very good condition for it's age. The ship lantern stands at a tall 15" without the handle and is 8" wide. The oil glass pot comes out from the top by unhinging the front side then the lantern and flipping the top backwards. With a hook and a latch with a chain for closer. The glass brass oil lantern stands at 4" tall without glass lamp. Seems to be heavy about 6 to 7 pounds. Made out of brass with copper rivets. Has a handle. Also four glass panels. It has a new wick. Not sure if the wick is original it does appear unused. For sale is a vintage/antique brass and copper maritime ship's lantern made by Anchor in England. It's in great shape. Obviously used and showing normal wear and tear with lots of patina. The lantern has been retrofitted with an electrical ceramic light socket although it does not come with a cord. Beautiful globe- would be a wonderful light fixture for any collector or nautical buff. The glass in the middle is in good shape with no chips or cracks and has a red lens inside signifying that it would have hung on the port side. Antique Ships Lantern in as found condition. I am not an expert here. Tried to do some research and found similar Lanterns made by Anchor and Meteorite. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Lantern is 15 + inches tall/ 18 inches if you include the handle and 8 inches wide. Made of Brass. The latching piece on the top of the Lantern looks to be copper. There is some light chipping on the Lens Globe but nothing serious, No cracks or breaks. Could use a good cleaning or leave the patina. Very impressive. This Is A Very Large Antique Lantern With A Kerosene Lamp. This Piece Is Very Large And Measures 23 Inches Tall. 9 Inches Wide, And 8 Inches Deep. I Would Date This Piece To The Later Part Of The 19th Century. Might Even Be From The Civil War Era. It Has A Chain On The Back That Was Used To Hang It On A Wall Of A Home Or Stand. A small tag is on the top of it with the name of the company, and the top also has a serial number on it. This is probably a marine lamp, originally made of copper and brass and painted black on the outside. This has a heavy glass Fresnel lens that goes all the way around the source of light inside, which is currently an electrical light bulb, which we believe was a later addition to this piece. The electrical cord has been cut and tied in a knot, so it would need to be rewired, or you can easily remove the socket. The swing handle is made of heavy wrought iron. This lantern, which stands approx. 11.25" tall and 7.5" in diameter, has been put to work in its past, and shows scars of close encounters with various dings and bends. Dutch Vintage Maritime Ship Mast Lantern Heklicht Copper Brass Netherlands DHR
This item has me puzzled. I don't know if is made of copper and then brass coated or if is brass. It is embossed"HEKLICHT" on top. The glass front has a logo which is a triangle with 3 Gs on it. In the bottom it is marked"DHR Netherlands 07-02" It has some tarnish and oxidation. I hope you can see that in the pictures. It is very nicely made and it appears old but, I am not an expert in this items so it might not be very old. I have had it for about 7 years or so and bought it from an estate sale. It has not been used by me and when I bought it the wick was brand new. It still is. There is a some damage in the fluid container. See last two pictures, the piece that broke off is there and it can be soldered back on, I think. Measurements: 14-1/2" tall. 6" deep and 7-1/2" wide. For your consideration. A J.Vogels-Boon Fabricants copper and brass ships signal lamp with a Fresnel lens, and original oil burner. This is a rare beauty in both availability and condition. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. The signal lamp operates by depressing the side lever to open the inside brass door in front of the oil lamp, emiting a brief burst of light to the next ship. The door mechanism does need some adjustment to make it operate smoothly, and the oil lamp is missing a glass chimney. Please look at all 12 pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN MARITIME NAUTICAL COPPER RIVET
Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. The lamp is equipped with substantial brass bail handles on the top and bottom. These are attached to heavy cast brass brackets riveted to the body of the lamp. Antique Brass/Copper Lantern Display Piece
I don't know a lot about this piece. I know its Brass or Copper or both, I know its old, and its kind of flimsy. The solder joint on the top hinge for the door has come loose, the hinge is intact but it needs to be reattached to the body. The door stays closed with the latch, and it has 3 intact glass panels, a half circle handle, and a standard size candle holder inside. For what its worth, it works, I would say this is more of a decoration at this point then a functional lantern. It is old and dusty, and I am not cleaning it, it is roughly 7.25" tall without the handle, and each side is about 3.25" across, or deep. U.S. shipping to the lower 48, PayPal, and payment is due within 48 hours of auction end. It will be packaged safely in bubble wrap. The candle has been in there for at least 10 years and goes with the lantern.

This interesting old lamp is most likely from the early part of the 20th Century. Perhaps before. It looks as though this piece has all its necessary components including a key, at one the end of the original chain, in order to control light(it moves the wick up and down) Even the wick looks like it would most likely work with a bit of fuel. There is no key available for the front hole(not sure what that one does, see last photo) Definitely a charming piece for the just the right decor.
