this is a very old metal signal light of some sort. Crumpled metal label on back reads PERKINS MARINE LAMP& HDW CORP. Brooklyn NY so I assume it is a boating or navigational lamp of some sort. 11 1/2" tall. About 6" wide and 9" deep with the flap that separates the two ridged glass lenses, one is green and one is red. Lenses are held in with copper or brass fittings and cap is same metal. The metal body is rusted out on about the bottom 3/4 inch and fits over somekind of lighting mechanism but I don't know what kind. this could be used for parts for another lamp of the same type or possibly restored, I don't know. back has a flat mount of some sort. don't know if it goes over an electric or gas light on a post, or how it was used. Here is an antique oil burner Boat Signal Lantern. I could not see a makers name on it. It measures 8 1/2" high. The glass lense has some scratches and is dirty and needs to be cleaned. It is not broken. The burner is there and the door has a spring lever that works good. Painted Black. I am not sure if that is the original paint. Has some rust also but not bad. Antique Boat Semaphore Signal Lantern Keystone Ware Here is a great antique semaphore or signaling lantern for boat use. It is made of painted steel. Is about 8 1/2 inches tall, and it has a great magnifying Fresnel lens. Inside is a kerosene lantern with an adjustable wick. A spring loaded shutter can be hand actuated to cut off the light so that it can be effectively used as a signal device. It is marked“BOAT SIGNAL LANTERN” above the lens. I cannot locate a makers mark but it looks like a Keystone(Keystoneware) lantern. I've been told that Dietz made a lantern that was virtually identical in appearance to the Keystone version. Condition is excellent with very little paint loss. Although it is a little dusty. The lens is undamaged, as is the oil lamp. The gate spring is still strong and the shutter functions smoothly. Richards Estate Sale Perko Boat Signal This is an amazing piece from maritime history. This piece was made by Perko(Perkins) and has really withstood the test of time. Unlike many of these lanterns this one still has the original Perko lamp inside as shown in pictures. The sliding hatch mechanism still works on this piece. It was used as a display piece in the house and they had a screw in the base of the signal to hold the sliding hatch open. This is the most complete piece of this kind that we have seen on eBay and a great addition to all maritime collectors. I don't think this has ever been issued- some minor paint chip. But no major scratches, dents. Well marked' Boat Signal Lantern' but no maker name that I can find. Oil burner with working wick is present and looks unused. Spring-operated open/close inner door used for signalling is strong and in proper working order. Overall a very nice example. Antique Vintage Brass Ship or Railroad Lantern Dresser Railway Lamp & Signal Co
This stunning old lantern belonged to my parents. And has been in my family for as long as I can remember. I do not know the exact age or the original function. The high level of craftsmanship in this lantern is amazing. It appears to be of solid brass with a wooden handle attached at the top. The only place that a magnet will stick to the metal is on the fitting that holds the wick. There are two rectangular glass windows. The hinged door is opened by pulling up on a slide loop. There are two round silver metal reflectors on the inside walls of the lantern. The footed base has a bolt and nut for attaching the lantern to a surface. The Round knob that adjusts the wick is marked Dressel and the number 0. I believe that this stands for the Dressel Lamp Works of Arlington New Jersey. Aldis Lantern Handheld Nautical Maritime Ship Signal Light Lamp 4 Inch
For your consideration today is a beautiful example of a 4 inch. Handheld Aldis lantern used as a ships' signal light. Included. Is an old custom made oak box with a missing handle/strap, an extra blue lens and connecting cable with brass fittings. The extra lens does have a crack as shown in the photo. I did look for identifying marks, but none were found. What looks like a nameplate on the side and another on the bottom of the unit, is rubbed clean evidently from years of use. Although I don't have a power source to test this lamp. When I depress the switch, I get a good continuity reading on my ohmmeter, and when released, it shows none. This tells me that the cable, switch and lamp are still good. The signaling trigger appears to work, as when it is pulled, the mirror does pivot slightly up and down. The areoscope(telescopic sight) ... moreis clear and the sighting cross-hairs are crisp and visible. All-in-all, for its age, this wonderful piece of maritime history is in good condition. For your consideration. A J.Vogels-Boon Fabricants copper and brass ships signal lamp with a Fresnel lens, and original oil burner. This is a rare beauty in both availability and condition. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. The signal lamp operates by depressing the side lever to open the inside brass door in front of the oil lamp, emiting a brief burst of light to the next ship. The door mechanism does need some adjustment to make it operate smoothly, and the oil lamp is missing a glass chimney. Please look at all 12 pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. Overall condition of lantern: NO DAMAGE/ Old brass lantern with old age brass patina along with some very minor issues of some oxidation ... morespots on it in a few small areas such as under its top hood located just around its top smoke stake area and a small little bit also around its top handle mounts. Overall its a pretty clean brass lantern/ Also I think these light oxidation areas will clean off nicely with a small tiny brass wirer brush or some very fine steel wool/ I left lantern alone and as is over the years with its old ageing patina/ the old wick turns up& down nicely/ The inside of this old lantern looks to be pretty clean and it does not appear to have much aging. Overall this old lantern looks to be very well made and very well kept over the years. Lantern has hardly NO visible lead solder on it only just a little bit around its door hinges and oil tank ring handle all welds on it are factory done/ Also the lantern looks to be mostly bolted together with little small brass factory screws and little brass nuts: such as bolted on its brass& wooden handle and its bolted on brass smoke stack hood covering and it has bolted on brass wire grating also. It was built in the early 1900’s by Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp. And has their name, city, state, and the“PERKO” trademark stamped on the belt clip. Also, BOAT SIGNAL” in a very large font) is stamped just above hinged door. This lantern features two adjustable handles, belt clip, 3” round clear bullseye lens, and a rotating shutter. Included is the original brass oil font tank and burner, which has“PERKO U.S.A. signed on the wick adjusting knob. Overall, the lamp measures 8½” tall x 3½” wide x 5” deep and weighs two pounds. Originally this unit was zinc plated and painted black. The black paint is almost gone and the zinc plating ... moreis still visible in the non-ware areas. Please note that there is a dent in the hinged side of the door. With the paint and plating gone, most of the lead solder joints stand out. Vintage National Marine Lamp Co. # 11 Boat Signal Lantern
This Handheld Oil Burning Boat Signal Lantern is in fairly good condition considering its age. Has the scratches that I would expect to see. The wick is new in the burner which leads me to believe it was replaced because the interior does have some burn marks from use. The lens is in great shape and spring loaded action is as stiff as ever. Probably made between 1900- 1950 and the exact date of manufacture is unknown to me. Stands 9" tall and has about a 3 1/2" diameter.

Very Rare PURPLE Masthead Signal Lantern made by Perko from the early 1900s. This piece is in remarkable shape including a lens with no cracks and only a couple minor chips. Additionally it contains all of the original lamp socket hardware. Once it has new wiring installed it will function as new assuming you can find the appropriate light bulbs. Five bulbs are included but have not been tested. The Brass/Bronze casing has some residual paint spots from a few paintings over the years. The Brass up rods also have some discoloration. This all lends itself perfectly to the wonderful patina of this maritime treasure. Due to it's amethyst colour. The Fresnel lens is likely to have been made of manganese dioxide decolorized glass which was produced up until about 1920. The PERKO trademark was registered by Perkins Marine Lamp. Inc. in 1922. ... moreSo a lens made from manganese dioxide glass after 1920 may be rare. The casing is made of heavy cast brass or bronze. Dimensions 11.5" x 6" 12 lbs The illumination shown in the product photos is produced by a small LED torch held behind the lens. A two second exposure time was used for photographic effect. This is an interesting old lantern. Made from tin and with a glass lens. It reads BOAT SIGNAL LANTERN on the front. When you open the lens, there is a spring loaded lever that slides back to reach the burner. Mirrored on the back side of this. I see no maker marks. The lantern measures 8 3/4" in height and is 3 1/2" in diameter across the bottom. Original black paint shows quite a bit of wear, but the lantern is intact. Neat old lantern. VERY RARE ANTIQUE JAPANESE NIPPON SENTO NAUTICAL SHIP BRASS LANTERN SIGNAL LAMP
For sale is an Antique Japanese Nippon Sento Co. Ltd. Ships Brass Oil Signal Lamp Lantern. This is a very rare lantern I have never seen another one like it listed on Ebay. The lamp is in excellent condition as evident by the photos. It has a very nice patina on the outside and looks great as is. Or can easily be polished for a brilliant shine. The lamp has a wooden handle, and on the left side of the lamp is a thumb toggle switch that opens and closes an aperture behind the lens that allows the light to have the appearance of turning on and off. I'm no expert, but I believe the lamp was designed for semaphore which is a method of using light to visually communicate with another ship, or from ship to shore, and vice a versa. The toggle switch works smoothly, and the door opens and closes freely. Please closely review all of the photos ... morefor the material condition of the lamp. The lamp has the original oil/kerosene pot, but it is missing the glass chimney and possibly a reflector that may have fit in the small rectangular slot at the end of the pot. A replacement glass chimney can be easily found online. The lantern measures approximately 20" inches from the top of the handle to the base, and it is approximately 10 1/2" inches wide. Hi folks. I'm back after an absence to auction more incredible, authentic items from parents' collections. These are items they've kept in storage- they were collectors of anything and everything old, unusual or beautiful starting their collections back in the 1950s. The past year has had me busy researching, inventorying and cataloging their items. Now I have the dubious task of selling some. For starters, I am not an expert in anything. I have some knowledge of some things, but sometimes I'm not exactly sure of what I have so feel free to contact me to either correct me or educate me. I believe in the"auction" process, so the starting bids on all my items are fairly low to encourage bidding. Here we have an absolutely magnificent antique ship's lantern. Or to be more specific, a Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware ... moreCo. distress or signal lantern circa about 1915-1925. It is made of galvanized steel and brass- all galvanized steel except for a brass top and brass burner which were polished quite some time ago. The lantern shows old solder repairs. Has a little bit of surface rust here and there, but is otherwise really clean. The fitted burner seems to be very good condition. Is a Plume and Atwood and on the thumb wheel it reads"P&A Mfg Co, Waterbury. Conn. Made in U.S.A. Plume& Atwood made the burners for Perko and many other makers. This lantern has NOT been electrified. The clear globe is marked PERKINS 8 and while it has a little dust. It shows NO damage and is protected by 8 wire guards that are firmly in place(some have some surface rust) The base has two tie-down clips. Although he never used it. This had been hanging in my father's workshop many years ago and I just presumed it had been sold or lost until June when I discovered it had been packed away. The lantern measures about 14.5" tall without the loop standing up(about 16" tall with the loop up) Is about 9.5" wide looking down on it and measuring it wire guard to wire guard. The base measure

Very Rare Masthead Signal Lantern made by Perko from the early 1900s. This piece is in remarkable shape including a lens with no cracks. The Brass/Bronze casing has been painted black. But you can see the true color in the pictures. A great maritime treasure. The PERKO trademark was registered by Perkins Marine Lamp. Inc. in 1922. The casing is made of heavy cast brass or bronze.
