The front/face is about 9.5" in diameter plus the three mounting thumbscrews. The swivel beacket is 10.25" wide. The unit is about 30" long to the elbow joint at the bottom. The above deck(from deck flange to top of the light) is about 18" The light front to back is about 10" long. It is in as used condition. Looks like it is all there with the exception of the handle on the end of the shaft through the deck. The reflective mirror in the back of the light has lost it's ... moresilvering(see last photo) The light will need to be re-wired as I can see some bare spots on the wire inside the case. Huge Great Lakes Brass Searchlight ~ Carlisle & Finch
HUGE ANTIQUE GREAT LAKES BRASS SEARCHLIGHT ~ CARLISLE& FINCH CO What a Find! This is a fabulous very old brass searchlight from a Great Lakes vessel. It has been stored for many years at a Bay City. Michigan shipyard and recently made available. It is absolutely huge. Measuring 14-1/2" diameter. It is 23" long and measures 32" from the bottom of the base to the top. It has a 12" diam cast iron base. There is a long shaft extending from the bottom. Which we have inserted into a barrel in order to get photos. As you can see from the photos it has been painted. But much of the paint has flaked off revealing the brass beneath. It is just as found. The lens is made of a number of strips of glass inserted in the front frame. Two of those are missing. Maritime search spot light. It has a japanned. Military flat finish. 32 inches long,10 inches wide, Solid brass, weight of 20 pounds. it has two adjustments. The lower 5 inch wheel smoothly adjusts the up and down tilt of the lense via a gear drive, excellent mechanics. The 7 inch wheel adjusts the swivel mechanism. It also functions excellent. And received the following information: Manufacturing date July 3.1957, 10" light, 16" overall from the bottom of base to centerline of the large wheel. The serial number was verified and the light is authentic and original. Light is in beautiful condition. I have a copy of the original bill of sale from the Carlisle and Finch Co that shows the provenance and history of the item: The light was made for the Canadian Fairbanks Morse Co LTD(of Saint John New Brunswick Canada) and was shipped on March 23, 1928(from Cincinnati, Ohio) The light is all brass and has been re wired with modern wiring and is fully functional. 12" Carlisle & Finch spot light, USCG spot light
12" Carlisle& Finch spot light off of the Coast Guard bouy tender Basswood WLB-388. It has the original Brass tag with the serial number and the NSN number. Also comes with the fork bracket and the brass Base. And bolt that the fork fits in to. It Has been repainted white. The light has a working 300 watt bulb in it now, but the original would have been a 1000 watt bulb. The 300 watt bulb that is mounted inside did not alter the the light. It comes with the original light socket base, but was broken. The left side plastic handle is missing, and the rear handle is a replacement. The signaling mech. works, There has been some small repair to the rear cover hinge area. This was off of a scrapped out tender. This is a large item, and will be hard to ship in one box. Rare Carlisle & Finch 12" Signaling Searchlight Nautical with Shutters and Bulb
Up for your consideration is this rare. Old, Carlisle& Finch signaling searchlight with shutters and original bulb. Overall diameter is 14.25" 12" opening. Overall about 15" deep. This is a really cool rare find. Only flaw I can see is the flapper handle is missing, but the shutters can still be moved manually. Please examine all photographs, they are part of the description. VTG Carlisle & Finch Maritime Spotlight Shell
This piece has been on quite an adventure and I am hoping that someone can continue its journey. I found this spot light intact and rewired it and mounted it onto a tripod to create a floor lamp. You can see the finished product in the last photograph. I drilled 2 small additional holes into the shell and used the existing holes. The light was then sold and shipped across the country. But it was damaged in transit. The mirror that was at the back of the light was smashed, there was a dent put in the back, and the wiring for the lighting was damaged.so it was returned to me, unusable. I disassembled the piece and am hoping that someone else can reuse this shell. It is a beautiful piece made out of copper and painted Army green. It came to me with all of the orange paint already on it so I left it that way. Measurements: 10" in diameter ... morex 10" deep and weight 6 lbs.
