The lamp stays level at any angle. It also has wear to the finish with corrosion on several spots. So study the pictures carefully. Although most of the piece is made of brass I suspect the shade is a different metal, perhaps copper. I have not tried lighting the lamp(no oil) so I can't say how well it works. There is not any residue from smoke. Additonally. There are no burn marks on the wick. The tanks/bases measure approximately: 4 ½" tall 4.75" in diameter at the base 3.75 at the top of the tank. The glass chimneys/globes are a little different in size.one is about 6" in height and 3" ... morein diameter at its widest. The other is approx 6½" in height and 3½" at it's widest. As seen in the photos they are original Perko glass. Both have"Perko" screened on to the top of each piece. These are highly coveted pieces. Fancy cast brass back brackets, shiny font holders, tin fonts with#2 size collars. No markings I could see, could be Pullman, Dressel, Adams Westlake, or Miller, ca. 1880s. Brackets are similar. But not exact, one has(drain? holes underneath, one has arms more swept, and one is part copper/pink brass. They measures 7 1/2" from wall to font rib. And 6 1/4" from bottom to top of the collar. Condition is good. No major damage, some light denting throughout with one font holder having some stress cracks, both fonts will hold ... moreoil, the burners are not usable. THE TOP.TAG AND DOOR MOUNT ARE ALL BRASS AND THE LAMP IS METAL. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL RED GLASS THAT'S IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL BURNER AND FONT POT. THE FONT POT HAS RUST AND SOME SMALL HOLES. I BELIEVE IT HAD SOME WIRES IN THE FRONT THAT ARE MISSING AND THE TOP DOME IS PUSHED DOWN INTO THE BASE OF THE LAMP. Antique Neptune maritime Nautical lantern light with oil lamp
This auction is for a Antique Neptune maritime Nautical lantern light with oil lamp.This is missing the panel of glass that is where the latch side is. The total height is 15" tall. The base is 6" tall. The sliding oil lamp section is unmarked- it does original to the lantern. It has the Neptune tag on the front. This is fresh from an old New England barn and will need cleaning- I have not attempted to clean this up at all. The glass globe has a flake of the bottom edge. It measures 14" tall and 7" Diameter amd weighs about 5 lbs. Not sure if it is an original or reproduction. If it is a repro. It is a good one because it is highly detailed with cross bars and green glass(it has an outer pane of clear glass and an inner pane of green, it is not thick green glass) It also has a functioning oil lantern that can be taken out fron the bottom. I have up for sale a rare vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s Marine Division ARTISTIC BRASS& BRONZE WKS NY ship oil lamp lantern complete with original hanging bracket. The lamp is complete with the inside oil lamp with original chimney and reflector. The lamp stands approx 18-3/4" to the top handle and approx 16-1/2" to the top of the lamps upper section. It weighs approx 9 1/2 lbs and the bracket approx 3 lbs +. It is in Good as found original condition- normal general wear but no real issues. Some light surface rust that will clean off. For this reason I would say it is one of the earliest Models of the design. The glass is blue with no chips. The lantern itself has some very minor dings in one area and one minor dent. Huge 22" copper Masthead Maritime Ship Lantern Oil burner nautical antique This is a big piece. Measuring 22" tall(not including handle) width of about 11" The piece is painted but as far as I can tell the most or possibly the entirety of the piece is made of copper. The lantern is a forward facing type with mounting rings on each side, an access door on the back an a top hatch that looks down into from the chimney above. Inside the back hatch, the burner assembly is on a track and is removable. It appears to be an oil/kerosene burner with a large reflector. The glass globe appears to be intact. There are three attached metal labels or tags on the front. I will try to decipher them for you, due to age and paint there are partially legible. Vintage drop fount for bottom-loading oil lamp. All brass construction. Some tarnish and patina. However very clean inside and in overall very good condition. Does not appear to have ever been filled with oil. Fitted with Simplex burner which used a 3/4" flat wick(not included) Wick adjuster knob is marked E. Miller& Co, Made in U.S.A. Top of burner is slightly bent. No maker markings on fount itself. Threaded collar where burner screws in measures 1-1/4" diameter. Three spring clips along side of fount held burner in place inside of lamp. All three are securely attached. Small brass filler cap is in place. Bottom bell measures 6" in diameter. Top of fount measures 4" in diameter. Height of fount is(not including burner) is approximately 3-1/4" Height of portion that would fit inside the lamp is around 2-1/4" ... moreProbably used in a maritime rather than railroad lamp. However I am cross listing in the railroad lamp category as it could have been used in a navigation lamp on or about a railroad bridge. While this fount looks similar to the type used in Adlake Santa Fe and No. 63 railroad switch lamps. This is way too large and won't fit in those lamps. Weather-bronzed’ Perko De-lite Bow lantern. Oil-burning allbrass lamp with glass lens, 12.25” tall. This model was carried for quite along time by Perkins Marine, This particular lamp was made in the late 1930s(1934 and earlier models has two brass safety bars protecting the lens, whichwas removed from all models by 1939, per the Perko catalogs) Based on estimatesof the Perko stamp in back, it may have been made in the 1940s– 50s. The oil fount was drilled out and electrified. And promptlyrestored to oil burning capability once I acquired it over two years ago. Alsorepaired was lower brass band that holds the lens in place. There is no identification of manufacturer on it whatsoever. It is in good condition overall including a working hinge and latch. The lighthouse lens has some minor scuffs and scrapes. Early Oil Lamp Burner / Font for Railroad or Maritime Lamp
Great early font and burner for either a railroad or maritime lamp or lantern. Can't say which. But this assembly is for a very specific application, and is probably very rare and desireable if you know what you are looking at, and absolutely useless if not. Somewhere out there is a great nautical or railroad lamp or lantern desperately in need of this part. Hopefully it can go to the right home. Details are as follows: The greatest diameter is 4 1/4 inches. And as you can see in the images there are three pegs extending out from the sides of the font, evenly spaced at 120 degrees apart, so it goes into a very specific holder. With the burner it stands 6 inches high, and the burner is a standard American#2, with two spring clips to retain the early lip fitter type chimney. Two spring clips generally indicate to fluid lighting collectors ... morea railroad item. The burner appears to be an E.F. Jones, but it is not, and is marked WILLIAM S PACE& CO BOSTON. No patent date. Condition is about perfect. With no splits in the brass, no dents, and the burner is in good working order, with both spring clips for retaining the chimney intact and tight. This item is ready to go, if you have a use for it don't let it get away, and at my price if you are a collector or dealer in this type of lighting then it's a great item for your parts shelf. Has a tamper proof lock on front(no key for this one) Removable font is heavy tin construction with a very heavy brass chimneyless burner. White porcelain reflecting back has some enamel loss and scratches. Paint worn on handles wooden grip. Shows good tin below original paint. Underside has surface rust. Rare Wm. Porter Brass Maritime Marine Steamboat Binnacle Whale Oil Lamp Lantern
Just out of a local house is this Rare antique William Porter's Son and Co. binnacle lamp. The lamp is all brass and has a half round design. It is fitted with its original whale oil burner. These were made and advertised for use in steamboats of the period. The lamp measures 9 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches wide. The front measures 6 7/8 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is in excellent condition for its age with only some lines in the brass cap on top and the font looks like it may have leaked. See photos. The lamp is nicely marked with the makers tag of William Porter's Son and Co. 194 Water Street New York. A similar example is pictured in William Porter's and Sons 1891 catalog and lists this one as the large size model.
