Early. Copper& Brass Starboard Side Ships Lamp. This antique lamp was found at an estate sale in Henderson. NY on the eastern shore area of lake Ontario. The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. There is a crack in the copper in the pierced trim that goes around the chimney(see image 9) The bottom door also has a split or crack(see image 5) The curved, green glass is in excellent condition for its age, just a few fine scratches and some dirt. It is is very good condition considering its age! It has a very nice patina to it and all of the glass is still intact. It also has all of the reflector plates on the inside lid. This is important because there are reproductions out there and they do not have the reflector plates. Reproductions also don't have the lead flaps at the tops of the glass panels to hold the glass in. The other thing to look for is the data plate. Reproductions are usually thin and cheesy looking. This lamp has the nice thick data plate. I did my research before buying this at the auction and am 100% confident that this is an original. In fact there is still some soot in the corners of the reflector ... moreplates to indicate that it was used. Measurements are 24" tall and 14" across. I have up for sale a rare vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s Marine Division ARTISTIC BRASS& BRONZE WKS NY ship oil lamp lantern complete with original hanging bracket. The lamp is complete with the inside oil lamp with original chimney and reflector. The lamp stands approx 18-3/4" to the top handle and approx 16-1/2" to the top of the lamps upper section. It weighs approx 9 1/2 lbs and the bracket approx 3 lbs +. It is in Good as found original condition- normal general wear but no real issues. Some light surface rust that will clean off. Has three 8 x 3 1/2 inch glass panels wrapping around its front, one being the door. Heavy(10 lbs. before packaging) and very well constructed. Has a key which enters through a sliding door to adjust the flame. Very wind proof. Large bronze hanger on back. Has a tamper proof lock on front(no key for this one) Removable font is heavy tin construction with a very heavy brass chimneyless burner. White porcelain reflecting back has some enamel loss and scratches. Paint worn on handles wooden grip. Shows good tin below original paint. Underside has surface rust. This is a vintage brass ships lantern. Most is brass with glass panels and a white ceramic piece on the burner. From looking on the net. This one appears to be a Viking but I cannot find any markings on this lantern or the lamp itself. It is complete. The wick is inside of the oil tank as shown. Has a black wooden handle on the top. The door opens and closes shut properly. Looks to have never been lit. There is one small dent in the side of the top. otherwise no damage. Measures about 6 1/2" X 7" X 16" tall including the hanlde.
